As Cyber Monday draws near and debate continues about the Stop Online Piracy Act, the U.S. government has again seized a bevy of domain names it says belong to Web sites that deal in counterfeit goods. Blog TorrentFreak ran a list of more than 130 domains it said were seized by the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security's Immigrations and Customs Enforcement division as part of "Operation in Our Sites." TorrentFreak called the move the largest such round of seizures to date.

In what amounts to the next initiative undertaken by the Obama Administration towards its ever-expanding program of government expansion and nationalization of various aspects of the lives of the American people (such as the government takeover of health care, intervention in banks, and the nationalization of various automobile companies, such as General Motors), the federal government is now embarking upon a program of government-directed wireless internet (Wi-Fi) delivery.

Uncle Sam Wants Your Vitamins! While Americans continue to fight the government takeover of our health care, Senator John McCain announced his plan for the government to regulate all dietary supplements. His Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 calls upon the FDA to regulate dietary supplements as if they are drugs. The language is so sweeping that the FDA would have a free hand to regulate all food products, which are manufactured to supplement nutrition. Why is McCain doing this? Who benefits?

The announcement that President Obama has caved in to Soviet demands to scrap the missile defense plans in Europe serves not just to appease the Russians but also clears the way for the Iranians to have a clear shot at European cities once they have their own nukes. This is the convenience of seeing everything having to do with defense as an expense and waste of money that could be better suited to other purposes such as spending money on programs that actually can buy and bribe the voters.....

A day after the great march in Washington my neighborhood held it's annual festival along part of 5th Avenue in Brooklyn. In many of the stands selling T-shirts one could find the image of that icon of the left Che Guevara. Oblivious to the fact the man was a murderer most of the Latinos of my nabe seemed to take it all in stride. I have no access to television at the moment but see some of the pictures being posted on the Internet. Some observations of the debacle 1) No doubt about it. The Democrats have a mandate, being defined as anything above 50% of the vote. 2) Sarah Palin will fade into the background, she is a candidate that excites the conservative base and for this reason they will try to neuter and discredit her before the four years are up. 3) Conservatives as always invested themselves heavily into the GOP. They forgot that conservatism is a political movement, NOT a political party and thus they acted accordingly by investing too much in a flawed candidate. 4) No matter how much McCain...

So in 1871, he colluded with the railroad industry to form a cartel called the South Improvement Company. The rate to ship oil doubled, but Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company would get rebates for every gallon of oil shipped, even those shipped by his competitors. South would also collect information on the destinations, costs and dates of competitors' oil shipments. Once word leaked, independent oil producers revolted and managed to stop South before it...

The persistent inflow of Hispanic immigrants threatens to divide the United States into two peoples, two cultures, and two languages. Unlike past immigrant groups, Mexicans and other Latinos have not assimilated into mainstream U.S. culture, forming instead their own political and linguistic enclaves—from Los Angeles to Miami—and rejecting the Anglo-Protestant values that built the American dream. The United States ignores this challenge at its peril.

The Hispanic Challenge By Samuel P. Huntington   March/April 2004 The persistent inflow of Hispanic immigrants threatens to divide the United States into two peoples, two cultures, and two languages. America was created by 17th- and 18th-century settlers who were overwhelmingly white, British, and Protestant. Their values, institutions, and culture provided the foundation for...

Jubak's JournalThe threat of the job-is-worth-less recoveryYes, jobs are finally being created, but U.S. workers will find their incomes increasingly pressured by lower wages, higher benefit fees and global competition. That’s good for your boss but could hurt the markets. By Jim Jubak Okay, it’s not a jobless recovery. It’s the job-is-worth-less recovery. The economic recovery we’ve anticipated for so long is here. Forecasters think the data will show the economy grew by 6.1% -- some say as much as 6.5% -- in the three months that ended Sept. 30. And the jobless recovery doesn’t look jobless after all. Payrolls...

Kissing Cousins No More  TCS  by Christian D. de Fouloy [ 10/07/2003 ]In a great variety of areas -- foreign policy, demography, religion, economics -- Americans and Europeans are growing apart. Some Europeans complain that the U.S. is increasingly heading off on its own without them. They are right. America's psychic link with Europe is dissolving rapidly. There are 32 million people living in the U.S. who were born abroad, and very few of these new Americans are from Europe. They come from Asia, Central and South America, the Near East and the Caribbean. America is becoming a cosmic nation...

Mr Blair said his government had to battle against both the right-wing and conservative parts of the left-wing. Obituary: Sir Denis Thatcher Denis Thatcher's motto: "Always present, never there" Often seen but rarely heard, Denis Thatcher was a loyal supporter, and occasionally a shrewd adviser, to the woman he called "the Boss".As Margaret Thatcher confessed in 1985, on the 10th anniversary of becoming leader of the Conservative Party, "I couldn't have done it without Denis." He met the young Margaret Roberts when she was the Tory parliamentary candidate for Dartford in 1951. They married the same year. His money, made in the oil business, helped sustain her career and twins Mark and Carol were born two years...

Mexico-Brazil Alignment: Fox's New Foreign Policy Goal Summary Mexican President Vicente Fox has announced a strategic alignment between Mexico and Brazil to advance Latin America's common interests and to support each country's efforts to secure permanent seats in the United Nations and Group of Eight. From the view of Mexican and Brazilian policymakers, the alignment makes sense. However, it also reflects Fox's frustration with the Bush administration's indifference to his efforts to bind Mexico more closely to the United States through a bilateral immigration agreement. Analysis Mexican President Vicente Fox began his six-year term in office in August 2000 by...
