Do most liberals believe the U.S. deserved 911?

This is my second vanity this week and I apoligize for it. I really don't post vanities often. But, I am in a quandary and need some information and advice. I make jewelry and belong to a Yahoo Group with other people who make jewelry. A bunch of these people decided that they want to purchase some jewelry items from an online vendor. I went to the vendor's site and found a very disturbing essay where the author pretty much stated that the U.S. deserved what happened to it on September 11. I want to alert the group to this...

Need help with a liberal....ugh

Today I got into a discussion with a liberal who announced to the two of us who were working out at the gym this morning that "George Bush is an idiot." I kept my mouth shut for a while and then decided to let her know that I like GWB. That didn't deter her. She repeated that he was an idiot and then tried to set me straight. One of the things she said was (and this is where I need your help) that all of New England voted for Kerry and now all the funding has been cut for...

Check the Map! Are we in Vermont Yet?

Check the map! Are we in Vermont yet?By SHAWNE K. WICKHAMSunday News Staff Jeannie Johnson actually groaned aloud when she heard they had to cut down New Hampshire trees for two Vermont billboards that are quickly becoming infamous. The story just keeps getting worse. Johnson is the coordinator of the governor’s highway safety program in Vermont. That agency paid thousands of dollars to put up two billboards in the middle of New Hampshire that have been turning heads and sparking conversations. Trees were cleared to provide a view of a new billboard on I-293 promoting seatbelt use in Vermont. (BOB...

I need help with "View Partial Source" download.

I want to post an article, but not the advertisements, so I decided to go find that nice little utility I had ages ago that will give me the "View Partial Source" choice in my "View" pulldown menu. I am using Windows Explorer 6.0 and the only download I could find was for 5.0. I downloaded it hoping that it would work. It's not showing up on my menu. Is it because I can't use the 5.0 version? I reset my computer and that didn't do it. Can anyone help?Is this an acceptable vanity? I never know! I read last...

I need help with research on global warming

My son has to take a position on global warming (believe it's real or not?) for a paper he's writing in a robotics class. He's working with three other high school students and has to make a presentation on Friday. Does anyone here have any good sources of info on the Internet for this? I'd like to find information that is from "respectable" (according to the libs) sources. Somehow, I think that if my son quotes Rush Limbaugh, he won't be believed, lol. Thanks!

Sadly, an Honest Creationist

Sadly, an Honest Creationist by Richard Dawkins The following article is from Free Inquiry magazine, Volume 21, Number 4. Creation “scientists” have more need than most of us to parade their degrees and qualifications, but it pays to look closely at the institutions that awarded them and the subjects in which they were taken. Those vaunted Ph.D.s tend to be in subjects such as marine engineering or gas kinetics rather than in relevant disciplines like zoology or geology. And often they are earned not at real universities, but at little-known Bible colleges deep in Bush country. There are, however, a ...

My sister's view of Fox News

Yesterday, around the Christmas table, my sister made an interesting comment about Fox News. We don't get Fox News because we only have basic cable and I mentioned that. After I said that, she said, "Well, Fox News is kind of like the National Enquirer. There's a lot of sensationalism on it." Now, I've seen Fox News from time to time at other people's homes and it looks like a great news station. Obviously, it is growing by leaps and bounds. And, of course, all my fellow Freepers love it. But, I'm wondering if she's alone in her views. Do ...

How can we get to GW and tell him how to pronounce "nuclear"?

I hope this doesn't sound petty, but I just heard Bush say "nook-you-lar" for the word "nuclear" again and it makes me cringe every time he does it. I keep thinking that someone close to him will tell him how to pronounce the word. I always associate the mispronounciation of that word with Democrats, for some reason. Hey! Maybe that's why he does it! It's intentional; he wants the Dems to think he can relate to them! Is there some way to get the word to him that he's pronouncing it wrong? Please don't flame me. I love our president!

Self0Search question

Why is it that lately when I click on "self-search", I get a list of threads that I cannot find myself on? It looks like someone has pinged me, but I can't find my name there. Is it because someone has put a huge list of names into the "to" box and my name isn't showing? The only thing that makes me think that's not what's happening is that I'm being pinged by people I don't even know.Candi

These Ungodly Acts are Anathema to Islam

These ungodly acts are anathema to Islam By M.K. JasserSept. 13, 2001 As I watched the horror unfolding on the TV screen, the feeling of pain and sorrow was alternating with extreme anger. Mass murder of innocent men, women and children, destruction and pillage, all in the name of what? To a Muslim American, the horror of it all is accentuated by the recurring use of the Islamic adjective in describing terrorist individuals or countries. For a loyal and patriotic U.S. citizen, the whole thing is too hard to bear. No individual, group of individuals, country or institution represents Islam. ...

Need help--my son is writing a paper on the Bill of Rights

A little background...my son is homeschooled, but he is being tutored in writing by a friend of the family (who happens to be of the liberal persuasion).
Housing Assessments question

My husband came across something on the Internet the other day that surprised us. Our town has hired an assessment firm that will be sending people out into every home in our town to reassess our property. We have to let these people into our homes, I guess. Is this standard practice? We've never had anyone do this before, but I'm guessing that we didn't live in our other houses when they were doing reassessing. It bothers me, but I'm hoping my Freeper friends will tell me it's nothing to be concerned about.

My homeschooled son is being tutored in writing by a friend of the family. His latest assignment is on the U.S. Consititution's Bill of Rights. Part of the assignment is to find proposed amendments that didn't make it. I'm not sure if he's referring to amendments that were to be included in the first ten amendments, or any amendments in the constitution's history. Does anyone know of a source? An Internet source would be great! I have a book on a shelf somewhere called "Original Intent".
