Trump stood before Congress and said “And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: All children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God,” he said.
That's a leader!!!
SCOTUS in overturning Roe v Wade said it "was returning the power to the states". And I think by that statement SCOTUS implied, it's not a federal power. So it would probably take an amendment to pass a national ban on abortion.
Meanwhile Trump needs to win elections. Leaving it in states hands, makes Trump good with states that want to ban abortions. And also good with states that want to permit abortions.
There is no doubt in my mind that given the statement he made before Congress that Trump would sign a federal ban. But it's likely without an amendment, it would be ruled unconstitutional.
It's possible that by linking a federal ban with sanctity of human life, that a Federal ban might stick. But there is no point in fighting that right now.
Trump has already proven himself both in his comments to Congress and in his SCOTUS picks. Anyone else spouting anti-abortion rhetoric is at best unproven.
And what's the point of this article now that Trump is the Republican presumptive nominee? There is no one else running. So this is just a hit piece to try to make anti-abortionists unhappy with Trump.
