According to so-called voting totals, Joe Biden is the most popular presidential candidate in the history of this nation. His vote totals have surpassed both of Barack Obama’s runs by millions. But there are very good reasons to doubt that this is actually the case. One anecdotal reason popped across my Twitter stream tonight.

I looked all over FreeRepublic, and couldn't find anything on Larry's passing. I just happened to stumble upon it a few minutes ago myself on Larry's YouTube channel. Larry was a good guy who spent years fighting against the Clintons every which way he could. Even throughout his long illness, he still fought. May God rest his soul and bring comfort and peace to his family.
  • There’s No Evidence Taylor Swift Caused a Massive Spike in Voter Registration

Here's a sampling of headlines today from what are generally respected outlets: Buzzfeed: "Taylor Swift's Instagram Post Has Caused A Massive Spike In Voter Registration" Daily Beast: "Taylor Swift: Voter Registration Spike Follows Star’s Political Awakening" Washington Post: "Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Democrats causes spike in voter registrations" Variety: "Taylor Swift’s Political Comments Lead to Spike in Voter Registration" I'd give the Daily Beast a little credit for hedging some, but then there's the lede: "Taylor Swift’s first foray into politics appears to have produced impressive results." All the outlets made the same argument: that, a.) there was an increase in voter...

Mat Staver, in a Friday interview on Focal Point, revealed for the first time that the Liberty Counsel press release detailing Kim Davis’s private meeting with the Pope was pre-approved by the Vatican.  Here is the transcript from the relevant portion of the interview (starts at about the 6:41 mark):  Mat Staver: On Tuesday night we get word from the Vatican that it is time, appropriate now, to release the press release, and so we do, at 8:15 Tuesday night. We don’t usually release press releases at 8:15 at night, but we held it. … And that was the time they said was good to do...

It’s a funny old world. Environmentalists are dancing with glee after Pope Francis issued a statement calling on every man, woman and child to stand together to tackle the issue of climate change. The Pope, after all, is the highly influential leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics around the world and a man who can bend the ear of any president or prime minister he wants at any time. Getting him on board the green bandwagon is an undoubted coup for the eco-lobby. His statement came in the form of an encyclical, a papal letter to bishops usually aimed at ending...
  • Senators: Pentagon Shouldn't Pay NFL for Patriotism

The Senate wants the Pentagon to stop paying the National Football League to publicly salute soldiers, hold pregame reenlistment ceremonies and perform on-field American flag rollouts. The chamber on Thursday approved an amendment from Sens. John McCain, Jeff Flake, and Richard Blumenthal to the annual defense authorization bill that would not only end this practice but require NFL teams to return the millions in past payments and give them instead to charities supporting troops, veterans, and their families. This practice, which has been dubbed "paid-for patriotism" by critics, has cost the DOD nearly $7 million over the last three years,...

Beginning in September, Google plans to block firearm, ammunition, and gun accessory ads. According to Google Support's "Dangerous Products or Services" page, the company "[wants] to keep people safe both online and offline, so [they] won't allow the promotion of some products or services that cause damage, harm, or injury." Included in the dangerous products for which ads will be blocked are "Guns & Parts." This covers "functional devices that appear to discharge a projectile at high velocity, whether for sport, self-defense, or combat."

Do you have a young male child who occasionally walks around in heels and plays with a barbie doll from time to time? According to some you need to send him to a secret summer camp to have him trained to be homosexual. No… this is not a joke. Unfortunately, it’s the real deal.

Tunis (AFP) - It happens every April ahead of the summer marriage season, says Tunisian gynaecologist Faouzi Hajri -- desperate brides-to-be beg for surgery to make them "virgins" again for their wedding night. Fearing rejection as "used" women in a conservative Muslim country where premarital sex is nevertheless common, Tunisian women are increasingly opting for the sort of surgery offered by Doctor Hajri. But it doesn't stop them regretting the need to convince new husbands of their purity. "A woman's honour shouldn't be determined by a few drops of blood," says Salima, a 32-year-old who admits she had the operation...

Last week, a woman in Overland Park listed a wedding ring set on Craigslist that she wanted to swap for tickets to the Chiefs-Broncos game at Arrowhead on Dec. 1. ....... Since listing the rings — a story that quickly went viral — the seller has endured backlash from people who criticized her for giving up her wedding rings for football tickets. She asked to remain anonymous. What she didn’t tell anyone: The rings were from a previous marriage and have no emotional importance to her anymore.

I have seen the light. After all these years, I now agree that it’s fruitless to give the benefit of the doubt to people who are so obviously corrupt, so clearly malevolent, so bent on hurting innocent people for their own sick gain. No more due process in the clear-cut case of insidious terrorism. When the facts are so clearly before all Americans, for the whole world to see, why bother with this country’s odious and cumbersome system of justice? Send the guilty monsters directly to Guantanamo Bay for all eternity and let them rot in their own mental squalor....

Over the weekend, Facebook took down a message by the Special Operations Speaks PAC (SOS) which highlighted the fact that Obama denied backup to the forces being overrun in Benghazi. The message was contained in a meme which demonstrated how Obama had relied on the SEALS when he was ready to let them get Osama bin Laden, and how he had turned around and denied them when they called for backup on Sept 11. I spoke with Larry Ward, president of Political Media, Inc -- the media company that handles SOS postings and media production. Ward was the one who...

Throughout today we've learned more details about the possibility that 'moderate' Republican Dale Schultz may bolt the GOP and join with the Democrats. He is under intense pressure from Senate Democrats to switch sides - in fact Schultz once was a Democrat. Schultz also was the ONLY Republican who voted against Gov. Walker's budget reform bill and then publicly criticized Governor Walker for his efforts to bring fiscal sanity to Wisconsin. We learned today that Schultz even went to the Democrat Leader in the Senate and offered himself as a vote for them in the Senate. This would be disastrous...

Former PBS omnipresence Bill Moyers is at it again, agitating against Republicans for daring to oppose National Public Radio subsidies. In the latest installment (with Michael Winship) on The Huffington Post, Moyers concluded with a quote illustrating "the importance of a public media whose obligation is not to a political or corporate paymaster, but to the integrity of the work and the trust of the listener." NPR, he claimed, was like Kennedy's tribute to the poet Robert Frost: "The artist, however faithful to his personal vision of reality, becomes the last champion of the individual mind and sensibility against an...

In his post-suspension debut on Tuesday night, Keith Olbermann invited liberal filmmaker Michael Moore on his program. Moore was his normal annoyed self. But what really annoyed him Tuesday? NBC’s coverage of George W. Bush’s new book: that coverage was not balanced enough, he said. As a remedy, he offered to give NBC exclusive rights to his September 11 documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11“ to ”run on NBC as balance to all this publicity”: Video at link.

Radio interview with Dr. Gina Loudon. Dr. Loudon was the woman who busted Michael Gross for his lies in the hit piece that was published in Vanity Fair. At the 18:50 mark in the podcast (grand total it's about thirty minutes long), she brings up that Michael Gross visited Joe McGinniss in Alaska. McGinniss if you'll recall is the creep who rented the house next door to the Palin's in order to spy on them. I highly recommend giving this a listen

Russia has threatened to suspend all child adoptions by U.S. families after a seven-year-old boy adopted by an American woman was sent alone on a one-way flight back to Moscow with a note saying he was violent and had severe psychological problems. The boy, Artem Saveliev, was put on a plane by his adopted grandmother, Nancy Hansen of Shelbyville. In a case that has caused outrage at the highest levels, Torry Ann Hansen packed off Artem with a note to Moscow officials saying 'I no longer wish to parent this child'. The single mother even paid an associate to take...

COVINA - When she died on Christmas Eve with eight members of her family, Alice Ortiz unwittingly broke the lease she held on an apartment in Upland. Now the landlord, Broadstone Foothill Apartment Homes, wants its money, $2,821.23 in all, according to documents obtained Wednesday. A Jan. 29, itemized invoice to Ortiz's survivors claims the dead woman's estate owes $1,655 to the apartment complex on North Central Avenue for "insufficient notice to vacate." The company also billed Ortiz for 12 days' rent and other fees accrued in January, weeks after she died. "This is just low," said attorney Scott Nord,...
