The shooting rattled a North Little Rock neighborhood earlier this week; many called it an act of domestic violence. The mother of the victim says this is not the first time she has dealt with the murder of a loved one. She says she is relying on family and her faith after seeing her brother, her husband and now her daughter murdered in the last few years. Family pictures lined the table inside the home of an 18-year-old whose life was...

El Cajon, California (CNN)Activists dismayed by the police killing of an unarmed, possibly mentally ill black man in El Cajon, California, demanded Wednesday that authorities release video of the shooting. They also want a federal probe into the man's death. Police have not released the man's name. As of Wednesday afternoon, police had released little information about the incident, aside from a still photograph showing the African-American man, in what authorities describe as a "shooting stance," facing off with two officers in a parking lot.

Breaking down the numbers The study found at least 6.8 million people were "food insecure," meaning they didn't have reliable access to affordable, healthy food. Another 4 million were in "marginally food secure" households, where the "threat of running out of food is real." All of the 10 communities surveyed in focus groups...

The apocalypse has become big business. And it’s getting bigger every day. In the ’50s, homeowners fearing Communist attacks built bunkers in their backyards and basements, hung up a few “God Bless Our Bomb Shelter” signs and called it a Cold War. But today, Americans en masse are again preparing for the worst—and Communists are just about the only thing not on their list. What is? Terrorist attacks, a total economic collapse, perhaps even zombie invasions. Or maybe just a complete societal breakdown after this November’s scorched-Earth presidential election. In around 500 million years, scientists believe that the Sun’s expansion will leave our planet completely uninhabitable, with conditions so unforgiving that the Earth will return to being the scorched, lifeless lump of rock it once was. However, there is still hope for Earth’s future inhabitants, as researchers claim there are extreme measures we may be able to go to in humanity’s hour of need. CABOT, Ark. - A pit bull attack almost turned deadly for two horses at Roman's Training Center in Cabot. Trainer June Roman said a pit bull came out of the woods Sunday and attacked two of her American Paints, Porche and Flashy. "No provocation whatsoever," Roman said. "Just murder on his mind. He was ripping Flashy's nose and leg off." "She [Porche] was covered in blood on her legs, her face, chunks hanging off," said Dana Bailey, Porche's owner. "I was just crying because I have the horse gene and she's my baby." After the horses stomped the pit bull,...

President Barack Obama is sending Congress his eighth and final budget, proposing to spend a record $4.1 trillion on a number of initiatives. They include launching a new war on cancer, combating global warming and fighting growing threats from ISIS terrorists. The new spending plan, for the budget year that begins Oct. 1 -- just 3 1/2 months before he leaves office -- is facing heavy fire from Republicans who hope to capture the White House. The proposal had dim prospects of winning approval in a Republican-controlled Congress. In all, Obama's budget would increase taxes by $2.6 trillion over the...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Three people were fatally shot over the course of a day in Little Rock, including a mother who was holding her young daughter while she was struck, police said Sunday. The killings bring to five the number of homicides in the city so far this year, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan said 19-year-old Junius Pitts Jr. died early Sunday morning after being shot while apparently sitting in his car at a red light near the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus. A witness who was in the car...

(CNN)An Ohio grand jury has decided not to return an indictment in the 2014 police shooting death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, prosecutor Tim McGinty said Monday. Rice was holding a pellet gun when he was shot. It was "reasonable" to believe that the officer who killed the boy was facing a threat, McGinty said. The officer was in training outside a Cleveland recreation center in November 2014. The shooting sparked controversy given Tamir's age and the fact that he had a gun that resembled a handgun. McGinty called Rice's killing an "absolute tragedy." "But it was not, by the law...

  • Jeb Bush Demonstrates Fundamental Misunderstanding Of Hoodies With SF Tech Schwag

Jeb Bush doesn't understand how hoodies work. And for some reason, Jeb Bush believes, apparently, that publicly demonstrating his lack of understanding of hoodies with a SF-based tech company schwag hoodie will somehow benefit him in the polls. When the younger Bush brother came to San Francisco last July, the presidential hopeful made a concerted effort to show plugged-in San Franciscans that he, too, understood the disruptive power of technology. This manifested in predictable ways, such as when he hailed an Uber on his way to visit SF-based Thumbtack. He also, it seems, took advantage of the classic tech-job perk:...

In the second video released today by the Center for Medical Progress, yet another senior medical adviser to Planned Parenthood of America appears to negotiate the price of selling baby body parts to actors playing entrepreneurs from a start-up biotech firm. Dr. Mary Gatter, President of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Director’s Council, is asked, “What would you expect for intact tissue?” Gatter starts to haggle immediately, “Why don’t you start by telling me what you’re used to paying?” When pushed for a number, Gatter says, “Well, you know in negotiations the person who throws out the figure first is at a...
  • Obama collecting personal data for a secret race database

A key part of President Obama’s legacy will be the fed’s unprecedented collection of sensitive data on Americans by race. The government is prying into our most personal information at the most local levels, all for the purpose of “racial and economic justice.” Unbeknown to most Americans, Obama’s racial bean counters are furiously mining data on their health, home loans, credit cards, places of work, neighborhoods, even how their kids are disciplined in school — all to document “inequalities” between minorities and whites. This Orwellian-style stockpile of statistics includes a vast and permanent network of discrimination databases, which Obama already...

ARKANSAS (KFSM) – Following the shooting death of four Marines in Chattanooga, Gov. Asa Hutchinson has authorized Arkansas National Guard Adjutant General Mark Berry to arm full-time military personnel. The governor also ordered the Arkansas flag to be flown at half-staff on Monday (July 20), according to a news release. “Our hearts break at the news of another senseless act of violence and terror, this time out of Chattanooga,” Governor Hutchinson said. “Our prayers go out to all the families of the victims, especially the family of Staff Sgt. David Wyatt of Russellville, one of Arkansas’s own.” He continued, “I...
