Wonderful news, Teri. Wow, has it really been ten years? It’s really rotten that Rendell and Abramson didn’t get theirs...however, the outcome due to you and your brother Don’s decade-long tenacity not to give in was formidable.

Congrats to you both...and thanks to Physicist for all his help, support and updates.

Two quick tips for women: When grabbed around the throat, grab one of the attacker's fingers and pull back hard. When grabbed from behind, bend your leg and then kick back hard against your attacker's knee or shin.

Those are excellent tips. Now, if society could only recognize the increasing number of pyschopaths (who oft times wear a mask of sanity and normalness) in their midst.

I pray this creep is the guilty party. If so, he's not very smart. Shopping center parking lots are always under surveillance.

I hope this means he finally told the truth. I groaned when I heard his latest statement about phoning for meth, at least twice, and getting a massage and was tempted, but... Looks like he probably broke down and got honest with the Lord and his fellows. The church is doing the correct thing.

Yes, we all fall far short and are sinners, however, the Bible is pretty exacting about its leaders. If he hadn't been caught, (no matter what the circumstances, he is still to blame for his choices, actions and excuses) he would have hypocritically continued to preach while hiding his sin. In the long run, not getting caught would have been a terrible thing for him to do to himself and his church and would eventually bear bad fruit.

If I were a Colorado voter, it wouldn't change my mind one iota. Those who are for or against same sex relations/marriage won't be swayed. Somehow, I don't think there are that many undecided voters who would vote for it just because some foolish, prideful preacher got caught. At least I hope not.

Prayers for him, his family, and fellow Christians. It's a humbling experience for them (and me) no doubt about it.

    I believe him. Not.

After reading his latest statements, neither do I.

Yes, there but for the Grace of God go I, however, this man should not be brought back...after rehab, lead his church. When he does face up to the truth and truly repents, he needs to get humble, get a regular job, and prove himself to God, his family, and fellows.

These statements are preposterous in light of what we know. I believe he is lying's the old "I didn't inhale" and "I didn't have sex (depending on the meaning of the word "sex") with that..."

As for the gay escort failing the lie detector test, according to the article, the one who administered it said the results may be off because the subject was over tired, etc. There may be another test done next week. The fact that the accuser agreed right away to a test is telling...he felt he had nothing to fear.

It's a tawdry situation, but at least the majority of conservatives on this forum aren't defending the guy's behavior and are rightly suspicious. That's the BIG difference between the majority of conservatives vs. liberals. Conservatives don't condone such behavior. Yeah, we'll forgive, but only IF the sinner is repentant and tells the truth, the whole truth, and nothin but the truth.

TK-421, why aren't you at your post?

The Imperial Chicks ( website has a hilarious beefcake, er, banthacake calendar of Imperial stormtroopers in various states of undress. (Strictly PG, of course.)

I believe you can see it on the site's What's New page...or the Troopers & Guards page. I thought the Imperial Biker Scout in camo shorts was nice. :-)

Even the bad guys can look good, if given the right material.

I actually broke down and Goggled Rhodes. Thanks for the info about Gannon once being a FReeper. (Shivers.) I still can't figure out why a male escort was even allowed in the White House Press Corps given his sleazy background was discovered rather easily by internet slueths. It's a mystery to me.

Gary Aldrich (who wrote the very fine book "Unlimited Access") was right...the FBI no longer does competent background checks. You'd think this GOP administration would be wiser than the former.

Something is just not right about the entire situation. For some reason it gives me the creeps. I think I'll pass on watching the show...on the other hand, I wonder if he's going to blow the whistle on other closeted Republicans. If he does, I won't like it, but, heck, if a politician is frequenting male (or female) prostitutes, soliciting minors (male or female)...or engaging in other unsavory, illegal activities that can be proven, I say we conservatives need to take out the trash. (If it's just sex between two consenting adults, well, that's up to the voters to decide.)

OK, here I go, again. One thing I admire most about conservatives is that the majority of them are moral, accept responsibility, and won't excuse or put up with bad nehavior from their so-called representatives. (Unlike many of the leftist liberals who seem to view bad, illegal, and immoral acts from their politicians/representatives like a badge of courage, so long as their pol votes to save the spotted owl, a woman's right to abortion, etc.. )

Uh, I feel rather foolish, but who is Randi Rhodes? I don't watch much television news...I guess I could Google, but what fun is that? I'd rather have a FReeper set me straight. (No pun intended.)

I still think the whole Jeff Gannon thing was deeply weird...and pathetic in some ways. Was Gannon a FReeper at one time? I was back to work when all the ruckus hit regarding him, so I missed a lot of FReepin.

    Are you kidding?

Obviously the administrator didn't think so, cause my post was removed. :-)

What I was trying to say is: if the press didn't cover these incidents like a lookie loo carnival, there would probably be less incidents...and speculation as to why they occur. They seem to occur in bunches, but then what do I know?

I hope you read this, before it gets pulled. :-O

Foley's a pervert...who used his powerful position to try and take advantage of male minors. Even IF he is an alcoholic, it doesn't excuse his behavior and abject hypocrisy.

I've posted this belief before here on Free thing that I so admire about conservatives is, when confronted by solid proof of illegal or just plain bad behavior, they know how to take out their trash. (Can't say the same for Dems, but then that's why I left the Left.)

Foley resigned, not out of a sense of shame or honor, but because he knew he was caught and would get the boot by the voters. Shame on those Republican Party members who tried to cover this will come back to bite them...

    Thanks for the links.

You're so right about many folks not understanding the need for a Savior...or the meaning of being truly Saved.

I have a friend who attended a Billy Graham Crusade and thought she was saved for years afterwards...even though she never attended church or opened her Bible, let alone understood why Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. Fortunately for her, she met someone who set her straight. I know this may tick off some Billy Graham FReeper fans, but my friend has very little respect for Billy Graham Ministries for some reason or reasons.

Give me a camera and I'll find you a nutty religious group.

Personally, I prefer to "indoctrinate" my own child. I do not like the idea of sending my kids off to an isolated camp that uses such techniques...IF...the film is an accurate presentation of such.

I homeschooled, homechurched, and attended a Bible church with my eighteen-year-old son who is now attending college and considers himself a Christian. I never cared for revival-style (or TV preacher) Christianity, but I know some folks who got saved...and stayed saved because of it. However, a lot of revival style tactics involve route learning and pat sayings. They don't take unless there is regular reinforcement of the same techniques.

Give your child a solid background in the Bible...fellowship within a church that shares your beliefs and is not too legalistic or too your life as Christ would want it...and try your best NOT to be a hypocrite 99% of the time, (we all are sinners...there for the grace of God go I) teach critical thinking skills, and the child should turn out all right. No guarantees, of course...but then free will is a gift from GOD and a good example from the parents can do wonders.
