This idea of liberal elites not having to suffer the consequences of their bad ideas, and thus not learning from them, is what makes us view them as being “out-of-touch” with reality. The elites really do live in an artificial world.

  • Trump and the American Divide

This is a LONG, but very stimulating by Dr. VDH. He makes a political distinction between primarily rural people and urban progressives. Personally, I would make the distinction primarily between rural people who tend to be conservative and have traditional biblical values because they see what works and have to live with the results vs. smug urbane progressives who often are wealthy enough to remain largely unaffected by their stupid policies and thus don't have to reconsider the wisdom (or lack thereof) of their ideas. Dr. Thomas Sowell says that this is often true of academic intellectuals: they never have to consider if their ideas actually work because they are not punished for their bad progressive ideas. They don't suffer any consequences for their stupidity, so they never learn.
  • Academia May Now Be Beyond Satire

This article shows what an insulary bubble of groupthink that academia has become. Sokal, undoubtedly under tremendous peer pressure, had now recanted his exposing of the foolishness of academia, and is now blaming the right (conservatives) for the discrediting of the liberal professors who bought into his hoax in the first place. Leftist university professors have become a caricature of themselves. They are utter fools who think that they are bright.

Will also mentions Randall Jarrell’s “Pictures from an Institution.”

Higher education is not a swamp to be drained. It is a diabolical machine, and it is time to pull the plug. Rather than fight over individual cases of tenure-track professors facing blowback over things they say, we should move decisively after Trump's inauguration to starve academia. If Trump is looking to save a trillion dollars to pay for infrastructure, he should find this money by radically transforming America and shutting down higher education as we know it.

Liberal arts training is accomplishing nothing. Colleges have become a political racket whereby Democrats fork endless cash to tuition extortionists, and lousy scholars impart insane ideas to debt-strapped students who are made dysfunctional citizens in the process.

Let's stop arguing over whether this or that offensive professor deserves to keep his or her job. Cut off the money to colleges, let higher education grapple with massive layoffs, force the public to see the value of associate's degrees, and end the cycle of inflationary tuition and ruinous debt. Arguments about academic freedom function as a luxurious distraction from intractable problems.

This former tenured prof gave up his tenured position. He is in favor of exposing the whole college situation as being a scam, and then cutting off all federal funding for it. Yes, A.A. degrees in practical vocational training would be much more productive than at least 50% of the BA programs today. Students (and their parents) are wasting huge amounts of money on degrees that do not help them. In fact, the degrees often hurt them because of the stupid ideas that they have been indoctrinated with.

Finally, Trump sensed that the proverbial base was itching for a bare-knuckles fighter. They wanted any kind of brawler who would not play by the Marquess of Queensberry rules of 2008 and 2012 that had doomed Romney and McCain, who, fairly or not, seemed to wish to lose nobly rather than win in black-and-blue fashion, and who were sometimes more embarrassed than proud of their base.
Key is his emperor-has-no-clothes instinct that what is normal and customary in Washington was long ago neither sane nor necessary.

It may not work when opposed by determined military forces. However, if there are insufficient determined opposing forces, then it will win. Gramsci proposes using his methods to get rid of that determined resistance. His methods have been very successful with a large percentage of the American populace,as seen in the popularity of Obama, Bernie Sanders, et al.

This is a nice summation of the many incestuous relationships of Dem operatives/activists in the DOJ. We must always remember that it was Obama's DOJ that decided to NOT convene a grand jury which would have enabled the FBI to subpoena Cheryl Mills' and Heather Samuelson's laptops. It was Obama's DOJ that also gave the immunity agreements to them. It is Obama's DOJ that has been limiting the FBI field agents in their investigations. It is Dem operatives/activists in Obama's DOJ that are coordinating with the Clinton campaign to lessen the effects of the investigation. And of course, we must remember that Obama's State Department has been acting in the same non-cooperative way, by delaying the release of emails. They all are corrupt. They have no conscience. They are all power-hungry Alinskyites who think that the ends justify the means.

The ONLY way to cure this is with money. At the hospital where I worked, people (non-union) were allowed 10 sick days per year, but you got an extra week’s worth of pay (bonus) if you took 5 or fewer days off. There was one year, where I was truly sick for 6 days, but I took the 6th day as a vacation day, so that I could qualify for the bonus. The other years, when I wasn’t sick, I didn’t take ANY days off. The school’s union contract needs to be revised so that teachers are either penalized for taking more than 10 days off, or given an incentive for taking 5 or fewer days off.

  • Surrendering to the Spirit of the Age

    10/16/2016 9:46:16 AM PDT · 6 of 7
    DeweyCA to Kaslin

FTA: One of the ways the Left has sought to destroy the Church is by promoting and embracing the corporal works over the spiritual. It is not because they want to help people but rather they want to destroy Christianity, and to do so they must wage war with Christian’s own tools. The Social Gospel is a bludgeon to beat the Gospel of Salvation. Most liberals do not believe in the Christian concept of Salvation, thinking that they are just fine as they are and that there likely is no afterlife anyway. Corporal works are elevated, and this numbs the average Christian who want to obey the teachings of Christ to feed the hungry and cloth the naked. So, numerous Catholics supported Barack Obama, despite his positions being antithetical to most Catholic teachings, simply because he has usurped the corporal works of mercy. Many of these same Catholics will vote for Hillary for the same reason; they think she is in tune with Catholic beliefs because she wants to steal money from some to give to others and call it charity. Real charity is a voluntary act done on an individual level. Forced charity is nothing but theft, and it steals the opportunity of the giver to practice virtue. Oh... and it doesn’t work; few beneficiaries of the welfare state will have anything but a subsistence level of existence. It is a tool for enslaving swaths of the population.

Christianity is ultimately about eternal things. Therein lies the problem with so much of modern Christianity; it disdains the spiritual, ultimate purpose in favor of a social gospel. Jesus commanded that we do good works, the “corporal mercies” but only as part of the bigger picture, which is to save souls from eternal damnation. Feeding a poor person whom you then bless on their road to hell is of absolutely no value. Jesus said “if your eye offends thee, pluck it out; it is better to enter the Kingdom of Heaven with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into Hell.”

Or as Paul put it, “what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?”
