Kerry received three purple hearts and therefore, upon his request, was allowed to leave the combat area of Vietnam. I understand that the Navy's policy of letting those leave the combat area after getting three purple hearts was rarely used. Does anyone in this vast knowledge of military history and facts know how many others (besides Kerry): 1. Left the combat zone after receiving three purple hearts? 2. Got three purple hearts in the Navy during Vietnam? I think this could be a most excellent point of discussion...

The following is but a portion of Cruz Bustamante's plan: “McClintock” phone calls to Republicans The phone calls that have been received by Republicans throughout the State bashing Arnold were not put out by the McClintock campaign. The end message of the pre-recorded phone call says that it was paid for by the California Republican Assembly Independent Expenditure Committee. The attack ad against Arnold Schwarzenegger was a poorly conceived attempt by the CRA to “help” Tom McClintock. Even my own wife thought she would not want to vote for McClintock because of “his” attack on Arnold. What is important here...

The big final push began yesterday with the “YES on RECALL” Victory Lap Rally. All of the pro-Recall candidates for Governor were invited and many of them came. The event was timed so the major Republican candidates could come down from the GOP Convention that will be taking place that same day in Los Angeles. One candidate notably absent was Arnold Schwarzenegger. In his opening remarks, Howard Kaloogian thanked the candidates that included Republicans, Democrats, American Independent and Libertarian Parties. In his opening remarks, Kaloogian queried “Where’s Arnold?” which drew laughter from a mostly McClintock crowd. Kaloogian went on to...
  • Hugh Hewitt Lays Down the Gauntlet to Tombots

The following resolution is proposed by Hugh Hewitt: Proposed resolution from the floor at the California State Republican Convention: "Resolved, that if the vote totals on October 8 are Cruz 40%, Arnold 39.5% and Tom 6%, that it is Tom's fault that Cruz is the new governor." Now that would be a debate worth broadcasting on C-SPAN. Odds are that the Tombots would deny they are pulling a Thelma and [Louise] sic, even under those circumstances.

DAY OF INFAMY 2001 Atheists still fighting against WTC cross Group calls symbol an 'insult' to non-Christians -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: September 9, 2003 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2003 WorldNetDaily.com Just shy of the two-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, an atheist organization is once again warning against using a steel-beam cross at the site of the World Trade Center disaster from being used in a permanent memorial to the victims who died there. "Many people who died on Sept. 11 weren't Christian. There were Jews, Muslims and atheists who died," Ellen Johnson, president of American Atheists, told the Trentonian newspaper....

Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 11:00 p.m. EDT Claremont President: McClintock Can Win The head of California's leading conservative think tanks says Republican Tom McClintock could win California's special election set for Oct. 7. Brian Kennedy, president of the Claremont Institute, told Fox News on Sunday that while McClintock remains a "long shot," he also has been a "conservative hero for many years" and that he will get a significant portion of the vote. Kennedy said Schwarzenegger has yet to connect with the Reagan voters who make up the Republican party. He added that actor Schwarzenegger "made a mistake" not appearing...
  • Edward Kennedy (Democrat) for Governor of California

This just appears too easy. The Democrats have a candidate Edward Kennedy running for California Governor. Review his website: www.kennedygovernor.com He appears to be an okay guy. He says “I am a lifelong Democrat. The recall is not an attempt by Republicans to steal an election.” He compares himself to Arnold (but he laments that he has zero movie kills to Arnold’s 441…). Since he is a democrat with limited resources, I believe the people at Free Republic should help him. Though precinct walking for the Republican is considered a good idea, I think posting signs for Mr. Kennedy in...

In listening Tuesday to Hugh Hewitt’s show I got the message loud and clear. McClintock supporters are stupid and don’t understand that they are advancing cause for Bustamante. Sure there were the occasional, “McClintock is a good man” was thrown in followed quickly by “But he can’t win”. After listening to that Hugh’s diatribe, two things are evident. Either I must become smart and vote for someone on the wrong side of the pro-life, gay rights, gun issues or I can vote for Bustamante. Principles are now set aside, for the “bigger picture” which only Hugh and the other Arnold...
  • L.A. Times Poll (Is the Poll Skewed?)

Welcome to the world of the Left Angeles Times… On August 24, 2003 the Los Angeles Times released the results of a survey which has been touted by many as a huge boost for Cruz Bustamante’s chances to become the next governor. Problem. The poll contacted 1351 registered voters but did not achieve the appropriate number of Latino voters. So the “main sample”, whatever that is supposed to mean was supplemented by an unknown number of Latinos in order to provide 125 additional Latino “likely voters”. Even by the Times own numbers, this little bit of skewing affects the numbers...
  • Response to Hugh Hewitt from a typical McClintock supporter, with Humility

Dear Arnold supporter, I have been set up. Like Tom Daschle demanding action against Afghanistan on the eve of the attack, my timing could not have been worse. Like Democrats demanding Congressional approval before attacking Iraq, as soon as the cyber-ink left my computer Arnold spoke. So publicly (in cyberspace) I will admit, I was … errr… well… possibly in error. In Hugh Hewitt’s article, his crystal ball said that Arnold would make us all proud. However, I believe that Hugh did not use the mandatory crystal ball but rather he used insider information. The SECPI (the Security and Exchange...

Dear Arnold supporter, This letter is the response of a typical McClintock supporter to your recent World Net Daily article titled “Dear Tom McClintock supporter…” http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34189 First I enjoy listening to your show, in spite of your Browns bias and Steelers animus. You provide a number of conservative viewpoints, but as Tarzana Joe proclaimed about Rush, you have missed the boat. As you pointed out in your article, you have had McClintock and Simon on your show and you are a conservative. This is borne out by your commentary regarding your six years in the Reagan Administration. However, I believe...

Hugh Hewitt’s endorsement of Arnold First, I want to wish my deepest sympathies to Hugh and his family for the loss of Old Bill, Hugh’s dad. I hope that everyone takes a moment during this wild election season to pray for the Hewitt family in their time of grief. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When Arnold first announced for governor on the Tonight Show, I was listening to Hugh Hewitt on his national radio program. Due to a weird situation, since I live in the Inland Empire of California, I had to listen through the internet on KCBQ San Diego. This is because the...

California's Corrupted Contracts At the height of California’s electricity purchases in March 2001, the Wall Street Journal quoted a trading floor manager for the Bonneville Power Administration. The expert was incredulous as he watched California traders bid on electricity, “at times offer(ing) to pay $50 to $100 per megawatt hour more than the available market price.” He said, “They agree to prices that make you wonder. You’d at least think they’d check to see what the prevailing price is before throwing out their offer.” At the same time, California officials were also committing consumers to long-term energy contracts at unprecedented...

While polls vary, Davis has remained unable to rise above the low 40s in his re-election bid – a factor that media analysts and pundits believe is dangerous for the incumbent. An overnight field poll conducted on...

MORE TROUBLE FOR THE GRAYSTER... Papers cleared by U.S. Supreme Court for release are unlikely to dispel the fragrance of corruption around Governor Gray Davis. A convicted felon formerly with the Coastal Commission asserts that Davis extorted campaign contributions from those seeking permits in coastal zones: In the letters, the lawyers claimed [Mark] Nathanson was Davis' longtime friend and fund-raiser and described a series of meetings in a local restaurant concerning the alleged permits-for-donations scheme. When they met, Davis would ask Nathanson to bring him lists of "names of persons that Mark had previously helped with Coastal Commission matters," as...

Calif. Gov. Davis Stumps at Rally Sunday October 20, 2002 5:20 AM GARDENA, Calif. (AP) - Gov. Gray Davis turned Saturday to one of the Democrats' most reliable allies for support, warning a union rally that Republican Bill Simon is a threat to organized labor and exhorting members to get out the vote. ``All the good work we have done and all the progress we have made is at risk, because my opponent does not agree with what we've done,'' Davis said at a labor rally and barbecue in Gardena, 15 miles south of Los Angeles. Simon was campaigning 30...

Carl Limbacher Friday October 11, 2002 10:30 a.m. EDT Latinos: Gray Davis Is 'One of Our Worst Enemies' In 1998, Gray Davis got 71 percent of California's Latino vote. A poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California in September shows that in this election, that number may drop by almost 20%. The Davis campaign is wondering, where's the love? Well, back in 1994, California voters, not Republican lawmakers or right-wingers or anyone else except the people who actually live in the state, passed Proposition 187, which eliminated public education and other taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants (i.e., those...

On February 16, 2000 two Plumbers Unions gave $15,000 each for a total of $30,000 to Davis (Transactions 645217-A33984 & 645217-A33985). Coincidently, a new member Sidney Cavanaugh (an employee of the United Association of Apprentices and Journeyman in the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry (the plumber's union) was appointed by Davis to the Building Standards Commission on February 24, 2000 (note that all the members of the Committee were appointed during the Davis term). http://www.bsc.ca.gov/abt_bsc/abt_cbscmem.html The "coincidence" happened in October of 2000. The Building Standards Commission was going to do the usual code adoption process which happens every three years, but...

The construction delay at San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system airport extension project cost a whopping $1.04 million. According to reporter Aaron Davis, finding the snake, which is listed as a member of one of those ...

American jets were also in action near the other major front south of the strategic northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif, according to Taliban and opposition officials.
