  • Why Wal-Mart's Shrinking Profit Should Scare Liberals

I went out to Walmart this week, browsed the computers, selected one and came home and purchased it on-line...but from a company based in the south which has not banned the sale of confederate merchandise. I don’t fly the flag but I deeply resent any corporation attempting to affect my right to honor my heritage in a peaceful manner. Guess what? There are hundreds of thousands of us who may very well feel the same way. In fact, Walmart has gotten rich off the working men and women of the rural south...their major demographic target...what sheer stupidity for Walmart’s CEO to put his dog in that fight.

    dunblak to US Navy Vet

This is a completely accurate account of the fire on the Forrestal...I was the Public Affairs Officer for RAdm Harvey Lanham and was on the Forrestal’s flag bridge for much of the day, as the glass was blown out by shrapnel, as men were vaporized by unstable bombs on deck, and as our shipmates were killed by explosions that reached as deep as seven decks. McCain was a hotdog, just as he is today, but he did not start the fire, nor did he have any responsibility to fight the fire. We had well-trained, fire control parties and he would have been in the way. McCain’s service in the U.S. Senate is much more of a disgrace than his actions on the Forrestal.

Thanks for your comment...Mitt Romney is certainly not a mainstream conservative who believes all Americans have the right to honor their ancestors in any way they see fit. What he also does not realize is that we vote...and there are more than a couple of million of us who had ancestors who fought and died in that war to repulse an illegal invasion...we will never vote to elect an establishment republican with his skewed attitudes toward the south...and let me remind us all, those boys that came from Michigan and Ohio and other northern states never heard that they were coming down to give their lives to free slaves...that is hogwash.

The tone-deaf First Lady, Michelle Obama, is preparing for a celebrity-studded 50th birthday party with performances by Adele and Beyonce as thousands of school children planning spring trips to Washington find their White House tours cancelled. Although the party is private and said to be paid for by the Obamas, taxpayers will foot the bill for secret service and plenty of other accommodations at the White House. It is likely that “donations” will be solicited for the champagne, caviar, and cake with reimbursement from the government coffers coming at another time and place. Wouldn’t it be delicious if thousands of unemployed and other hardworking Americans living in reduced circumstances surrounded the White House on the night of the gala and flung birthday cake over the fence as a historical reminder of Marie Antoinette’s excesses? Would it matter anymore?

Thank you for your comment...there are, indeed, no men of this stature in the political or military life of this country...both were recognized for outstanding leadership in the Mexican War and I am reminded of a question (paraphrased) the tyrant Abraham Lincoln made to General Winfield Scott when he asked him why he could not take Richmond when he had taken Mexico City in one day. General Scott replied that it was the same men who had taken Mexico City that were holding Richmond. Well-educated historians with no axe to grind recognize that Lee and Jackson were the true patriots who could no longer defend a country that had abandoned its constitution and rule of law.

The simple truth is that, after hearing the experiences of a physician soninlaw, a physician brotherinlaw, and a physician fatherinlaw, a young white male will be passed over time and time again for a black female in entering med school...many times the affirmative action candidates are then incapable, academically, of making it through the full course, or in some cases, have been dropped for cheating, in an effort to keep up. The end result is a tremendous loss for taxpayers financing their education, as well as contributing to the shortage of physicians...just the facts, my friends, untinged by political correctness.

The current Bishop, Henry Parsley, who also voted to consecrate New Hampshire’s gay Bishop, has made the church a party to a lawsuit to have the law overturned. Our most senior church leaders deny the Virgin birth, the Trinity, the Ascension, and are more interested in the cocktail parties they attend than the great commission. But fear not, as they are turning on the spit over the hottest grill in Hell, there will be a rebuilding of the church, just as a great awakening is going to bring back our constitutional government. It is imperative for Episcopalians to remain firm in principle and ready themselves for this future battle.
