  • More Faked Hate: Muslim Confesses to Burning Qurans in Front of Dearborn Mosque

Back on June 18th I reported on a notorious (but popular) imam in Dearborn calling for sharia restrictions on the first amendment in the wake of a quran burnings in front of his mosque. I wrote: As for the two qurans that were allegedly burned outside a mosque, color me skeptical. We have seen so many of these incidents actually committed by Muslims in order to advance their narrative of being victims of hatred, and in order to impose or secure some concession or accommodation to Islam. I find the timing a bit too coincidental. And I was right. The...

Hackers have already proven smarter than smartphones or just about any other connected electronic device, and soon they’ll hack into your fridge, thermostat, and toilet. The NSA got into your files stored in the cloud’s “secure” data centers. Chinese authorities got everything on your laptop that you left in your hotel room while going for quick beer at the bar downstairs. And now Dutch hackers, um “computer experts,” have commandeered Google Glass to take pics and videos of everything you're looking at. Which could be expensive – the PIN you key into an ATM. Or more than embarrassing – strangely...

There’s always Tunisia. Amid the smoking ruins of the Middle East, there is that one encouraging success story. But unfortunately for the Obama narratives, the president had about as much as to do with Tunisia’s turn toward democracy as he did with the World Cup rankings. Where administration policy has had an impact, the story is one of failure and danger. The Middle East that Obama inherited in 2009 was largely at peace, for the surge in Iraq had beaten down the al Qaeda-linked groups. U.S. relations with traditional allies in the Gulf, Jordan, Israel and Egypt were very good....

While giving a speech at the Chicago Humanities Festival in 2011, Elizabeth Warren asserted that she was the first nursing mother to take the New Jersey Bar Exam, as reported at The Boston Herald (link now dead, reprinted at Legal Insurrection[1]) (emphasis added): Warren, who had no public events yesterday, again refused an interview request from the Herald, responding to questions instead through a spokeswoman by email. BANGKOK (AP) — From the day Thailand's military coup leader seized power last month, he has promised unspecified reforms to restore stability and return to civilian rule and democracy. Yet, Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha has mentioned a striking obstacle to a "fully functional democracy" — elections. According to the general, elections themselves have contributed to years of bitter political division and sometimes-violent street protests in Thailand. The military says intractable turmoil forced it to step in and topple a government for the second time in a decade.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday that tenure, seniority and other job protections for teachers have created unequal conditions in public schools and deprive poor children of the best teachers. In a case that could have national implications for the future of teacher tenure, Judge Rolf Treu sided with a Silicon Valley mogul against some of the most powerful labor unions in the country. In a 16-page ruling, in the case of Vergara v. California, Treu struck down three state laws as unconstitutional. The laws grant tenure to teachers after two years, require layoffs by seniority, and call...

Forget the current polling as between Hillary and Elizabeth Warren. It pits Hillary against someone who “isn’t running.” For all my criticisms of Warren, and they are extensive, I am convinced that if she ran, she would crush Hillary, just as Obama did. Warren, as did Obama, has a unique ability to demagogue the core Democratic narrative of victimhood in ways that would make Hillary blush. She is more cunning than Hillary, more popular with the base, would bring an excitement the contrived Ready-for-Hillary movement could only dream of. Democrats may be “ready” for Hillary, but they don’t really want...

Across the nation, but particularly in cities such as New York and Washington, the rich are incessantly accused of being slyly manipulative and self-serving. For instance, they support charter schools. Apparently, there is nothing worse. I am mystified. Charter schools are not private schools.
