WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — Prosecutors say the case should move forward in adult court against two Wisconsin girls accused of stabbing a classmate to please the horror character Slender Man. In filings late Tuesday, the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office asked the court to find probable cause that both girls committed attempted first-degree homicide. Under Wisconsin law, that charge automatically puts the case in adult court. But defense attorneys want the case moved to juvenile court. They say the charge should be attempted second-degree homicide, which normally would be a juvenile charge.

Madonna’s show-closing number at the 35th Annual BRIT Awards, held Wednesday at the O2 Arena in London, marked her first BRITS performance in 20 years. It should have been a triumph for the “Living for Love” diva, but a scary onstage wardrobe malfunction ruined the moment and nearly led to disaster. After a processional through the crowd with Madonna dressed in a full-body shroud, the singer’s devil-horned dancers attempted to remove her cape as she stood precariously at the edge of the stage’s upper platform. It appears, from almost instantly posted YouTube and Vine videos of the live broadcast, that...

Governor Scott Walker was in Green Bay Tuesday, where he answered several questions about the Right to Work bill. He said he’s always supported Right to Work legislation and if it’s on his desk, he’ll sign it. Governor Walker said Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald began talking about the legislation in December and said it wasn’t on the governor’s agenda then in an effort to focus on the budget. “Our budget’s been presented, historically as it will this year, it takes several months for the Legislative Fiscal Bureau to go through it and Joint Finance Committee so if there ever...

Word has been circling for some time that Disney is mulling a reboot of the Indiana Jones series and wants Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt to take the whip. Deadline is now reporting that Steven Spielberg himself is interested in stepping behind the camera should all the pieces fall into place. It's remarkably early for this kind of news — Jeff Sneider of The Wrap points out that there's no contractual obligation or even script at this point — but any kind of reboot would certainly gain immediate prestige coming from Spielberg. The filmmaker directed all four of...

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – Illinois’ new Republican governor called Wednesday for deep spending cuts to Medicaid, pensions and other programs to fix the state’s budget mess without raising taxes — a pitch met with quick opposition from Democrats who control the Legislature. Delivering his first budget address since winning office last fall, Gov. The Assembly’s government operations committee unanimously approved a bipartisan bill Tuesday that would allow retailers with liquor licenses to provide small shots of booze to their customers. The measure would allow shoppers to sample one half-ounce of hard alcohol, the equivalent of one-third a shot. Rep. Joel Kleefisch, R-Oconomowoc, says he sponsored the bill to level the playing field for distilleries and other liquor producers as they compete with breweries and wineries, which can offer samples.
