You’re gum flapping is quite extensive... but in the end, no more succinct than anyone else’s. Bravo- you can quote a chapter or verse to rebuke a lay person- putting the poor bloke to shame, can’t you? The founders made it quite simple, in EVERY aspect that they conveyed. Kindly part with me. I part with you.

What did the founders want? Loyalty, or... divided loyalty? How could they prevent that? Could they establish a higher standard for just two positions of leadership in our government? Say- the Commander in Chief, and the individual that might be called upon to assume the role of Commander in Chief? Are you Fogbow-ing? 14 years in country, 35 years of age, and born of citizen parents. Dare I say- a natural born citizen? What? How dare they ask for loyalty and ask for these simple requirements. This particular issue has been run through the ringer for over six years here at FR. I don’t care how many court cases of limited relations you reference. I only care about what the founders intended. Did they intend for lobbying? Did they intend for homosexual marriages? Did they intend for gun grabbing and ammo restrictions? Did they intend for transgenders in the military? Such the F U! Take your filthy carcass back to whence you came you sh!t stirrer.

Some of the comments here attempt to make the Rangers out to be a bunch of chumps.

I served in a unit alongside Rangers, Ranger Instructors, and Ranger POW's- and I'd like those of you saying so much to tell them face to face what you think about the Rangers.

I served with SF too, and they didn't mouth off to the Rangers like some of you keyboard commandos.

The question is- How could he be expected to love America when he doesn't even like America? He despises America!

Obama is EXACTLY what the founders wanted to prevent from happening, which is why the classification of natural born citizen was instituted as a qualifier for holding one of only two jobs in a country of millions, whether the population was 5,000,000, 50,000,000, or 500,000,000. Fourteen years a resident. 35 years of age. A natural born citizen, which is to be born of citizen parents- (PLURAL) and- be born upon this country's soil.

All of you FOGBOW sons of bitches can pound sand!!!

A fear of a divided loyalty was the primary reason to establish a criteria that would give the country a Commander in Chief that had but one loyalty, a loyalty to one's birth right/nation.

Obama is a dreadful nightmare and his disloyalty to America is demonstrated on a 24-7 cycle, by his actions and the plague of his administration that is set upon us.

    Yeah, no kidding.

The Eighty Deuce- was the tip of the spear of the Rapid Deployment Force, which was established after the Iranians stormed our embassy in Tehran. Not to mention the grand history of the unit. I was at Ft Bragg, in 1983, when Operation Urgent Fury went down. I was attending tryouts for the USAPT. We were about a quarter mile from the end of Pope AFB. Cattle trucks and C-5's thundered in and out of the base for a solid 12 hours.

The U.S. Army's Rapid Deployment Force (1st, 2nd Ranger Battalions and 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers), U.S. Marines, U.S. Army Delta Force, and U.S. Navy SEALs and other combined forces constituted the 7,600 troops from the United States.

That's some pretty good company right there.

One can earn the Ranger tab yet not be in a Ranger unit. This is referred to as Ranger qualified. It's somewhat a technicality except for the fact that Rangers in Ranger units understand the distinction, and those that are Ranger qualified but assigned to a non Ranger unit, also understand the distinction. A Ranger wears the Ranger tab AND Ranger unit scroll on their uniforms. A Ranger qualified individual not in a Ranger unit, wears the Ranger tab and current assigned unit shoulder patch on their uniform. Both types of military personnel attend and graduate Ranger School, but some may never serve in a Ranger unit.

From a US Army perspective, when one qualifies for Special Forces, a billet in an SF unit is filled by the successful graduate. The SF Q Course is not just a school per se, but a pure qualification/training process. In other words, one doesn't attend the Q Course "just" to earn the Special Forces tab, expecting then to return to one's parent unit. The DOD assigns the graduate to an SF unit. I'm sure there are exceptions. There almost always is... If one leaves a SF unit, or a Ranger unit, that person is authorized to wear the SF tab or the Ranger tab on their uniforms for the rest of their career.

Likewise one can serve in an Airborne unit, and be Airborne qualified if that individual successfully completed basic airborne jump school. The individual would wear the unit shoulder patch... in this case- the 82nd Airborne (AA- All American) and would wear jump wings. Some Airborne units have non Airborne personnel (not the 82nd Airborne) so the Airborne unit shoulder patch would be worn but not the jump wings. The Airborne qualified individual would refer to themselves as Airborne, the non Airborne qualified individual would refer to themselves as being in an Airborne unit, but would not be Airborne. If an Airborne qualified individual were to be reassigned to a non Airborne unit, that person would not refer to themselves as Airborne, but Airborne qualified. Part of the semantics is technical but mostly an earned skill vs unit function definition... with pride or honor at stake as well.

As an FYI: Some individuals have multiple skill qualification badges. Special Forces, Sapper, Ranger, Airborne, Pathfinder, Scuba, EOD, LRRP, Jungle, Air Assault, Parachute Rigger... etc.

Individuals from other US military branches attend SF, Ranger and Airborne qualification/training schools. Also, foreign military members attend these same schools.

Did you read my post? I worked in Iraq and Afghanistan. Both are inhospitable environments, but for very different reasons compared to Antarctica. The last I heard was 1,250 a month. I got basic math down in 3rd grade. I’m hip to 4 x 1250 = 5,000, and I’m also hip to 1 x 1250 = 1250. If the gig is 5-G’s a month, it’s a competitive salary... all things considered. I understood the gig to pay 1,250 a month. For my last meal before execution at sunrise, I would like a dozen prawns drenched in melted butter, filet mignon- cooked medium well, a side dish of Portabella mushrooms, grilled white onions, a baked potato w/bacon bits and sour cream and chives, black cherry ice cream, and some maple flavored coffee with a ginger ale flavored spritzer.

Someone with a masters or doctorate will apply for a basic cooks position, so as to get their foot in the door. It’s quite fraternal from what I understand. There are high paying jobs, but due to the crush of applicants- high pay is the exception; even though one would surmise otherwise because of the austere conditions.

I spent 15 months there and goombahs would probe the perimeter wire now and then... always winding up dead. One Marine I worked with- operated diesel generators by day, and pulled guard duty... in this instance the previous night, as his turn had come up. My job was to put containers around the generators to catch any run away fuel, as the systems were pressurized and a leak had the potential to drain the fuel reservoir if undetected.

I arrived at the job site one morning, and a few of the Marines were ribbing one of their buddies. Seems he had detected 3 sappers trying to come onto the base from the north, the night before, and the guard spotted them from the tower he was in, killing all three. He was pretty stoked about it, but was reminded by his superiors to keep it on the down low (no end zone celebrating) but since I was a fresh face that morning, the Marine's buddies made sure I knew and were more than happy and willing to spread the good news. The young Marine was all smiles... word about base attacks spread like wildfire, so I already knew about the attempted breech. It was a moment I enjoyed that morning, by being allowed to share in the Marine fraternity. We did some fist bumping, hand shaking and oorah-ing, out of sight of the Marine's superiors... and damn it felt good.

Said 8 attackers, might have been smoked on approach to the base, inside the serpentine arranged concrete road barriers leading up to the gate, just inside the gate, or further on the base. There would have been automatic weapons including anti armor weapons manned in a watch tower, and on the ground. It'll be interesting to see where the firefight (if that's what it was) took place.

It's good to see that ISF took the attackers out.

The fixed open revetments in the foreground were positioned throughout the base, so the road in the image could be on the base, but might be a road outside the base, as the revetments were for Iraq's air defense weapons (which weren't exclusive to the inside perimeter.)

In review... I see a tug or two, plus a boom or hoist, in the left bay, something in the middle bay, and something else covered in the third bay. The posture of the Marines is pretty chill... some with body armor and some without. Plus no vehicles in view, so they likely walked to the revetment, from somewhere else on base. I can't see rifles, although some could have sidearms.

As an FYI, the last bird is a CH 46 Sea Knight (I think.) Hand me downs from the Navy... maybe even hand me downs from the Army, to the Navy, to the Marines.

To the far right, and about center of the frame, there appears to be a linear line, likely HESCOs, a form of revetment, which would indicate further that it's more than likely on the base. They'll use the smaller HESCOS like fence material to cordon off a parking area, which is what it looks like I am seeing.

In the background, the road appears to split, and some kind of barrier crosses the road. It could be a gate to egress off post, or simply a checkpoint.

If you use Google Earth, and zoom in on the location, the base- circa. 2004, is visible. You can then walk the view over to Ramadi, and see the road that connects the two. If you can't find Ramadi, just search for Ramadi, in the address box and walk the view back to Al Asad.

Ain Assad Air Base, Haditha, Al Anbar, Iraq.

You are welcome- I cringe when I post to a thread without having read all of the posts, just knowing I've stuck my foot in my mouth... I was pretty confident there was some confusion with the reporting versus the facts on the ground. I imagine that there are AH 1 Cobra helo gun ships, UH 1 Iroquois helo gun ships, FA 18 Super Hornet fighter jets and 105mm and 155m artillery ready to repel ISIS. There are probably some drones overhead, armed and unarmed, along with some AC 130 Hercules Spectre gun ships on base, nearby, in flight to, or on call for the bases's air support.

Thank you for your service as well.

No one’s getting close to the base without detection/annihilation. Whoever said radio contact was lost with the base is hyperventilating. What? Did they have two tin cans and a string linking the two together? Ramadi is not Al Asad.

Alien - Any person not a citizen or national of the United States.

Migrant - A person who leaves his/her country of origin to seek residence in another country.

Safe Haven - Temporary refuge given to migrants who have fled their countries of origin to seek protection or relief from persecution or other hardships, until they can return to their countries safely or, if necessary until they can obtain permanent relief from the conditions they fled.

Illegal Alien Also known as an "Undocumented Alien," is an alien who has entered the United States illegally and is deportable if apprehended, or an alien who entered the United States legally but who has fallen "out of status" and is deportable.

I meant to post 500 billion as part of the cash trade, not 5 billion. Sorry for the insult to the good people of Jordan for taking part in trying to trade worthless POTUS for your King.

There’s no way Jordan would go for that trade. We would have to offer a sweetener to the deal. Throw in the states of Illinois and Hawaii, and $5,000,000,000, and they MIGHT send a representative to a negotiating conference and make a counter offer. They’d probably trade his worthlessness to a third party (Pockeestahn) for some nukes or something. That’s about the only thing I see as working, and IT would be a LONG shot at best.

    Great job by the couple.

Rule # 1: Fly the airplane... ALL the way to the ground.

People kill themselves all the time over far less severe issues because they focus on the problem instead of flying the plane. Ex: an exterior luggage compartment door opens in flight and starts banging and flapping. The issue doesn't affect the integrity of the plane or hamper flight characteristics to any degree that can't be corrected by a little trim or rudder input, yet pilot's have fretted and over corrected or simply come unglued, losing control of the aircraft in the process.

Arizona by law is already doing this and has been doing so for a number of years.

I’m from the tangential area where both these youngsters hail from/REPRESENT, in IL., and they are both PURPLE at best, and deeply disappointing. They both LOVE being on camera. If John McCain had a SON...

It obviously offends some people or else there wouldn’t be a thread/post about it here at FR. Do you have trouble paying attention? Comprehending facts? That FR is a conservative website? 50 Shades of Grey is more dumbing down of a dulled sedate society where anything goes. Push back is required!!! Go away and find others of your kind... there’s bound to be plenty of websites worshiping 50 Shades of Grey. Of course it’s intelligently written and cutting edge... grabbing vomit bag. Enough is enough. Behold the magnificent artistic unveiling of women’s liberation. How could we have been so blind to this groundswell of support and enthusiasm for such a brave film. What’s next? A renaissance of Broke Back Mountain? Cue a bleating sheep... bah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

You can currently enter Canada without a passport... but you cannot reenter the US from Canada legally without one- the exception is if you are an illegal alien crossing the southern border. Absurd reality. I’ve applied for permits to enter Canada the last three years in a row at monument marker # 78. That is where the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail terminus is, and the location is not staffed by either US or Canadian border security agents. The trail continues on for 8 miles into Canada, leading to Manning Provincial Park. Because the crossing point is not staffed, US law prohibits reentry at this point on our northern border.
