The reason China's economy is booming is because of it's economic type. It's NOT communist except in name. It's more militarist-facsist. It's getting more like Japan before and during WWII. When China was Communist (under Mousie Dung) the economy went nowhere. Yes, there are tight controls on business, such as written approval by the government to hire anybody. Then again there is no actual freedom, just perceived freedom, compared to what they had under chairdumb Mao. Greg leaves chat room.
Funny thing. This morning I took a peach out of a bag I have on my kitchen shelf, cut it open and took a bite. It seemed ripe, but wasn't. No sweetness at all. I said "phooey" and threw it in the trash can. I think the sticker said "South Carolina". Hold on let me check. (going to the trash to look)...It says "Tree Ripened South Carolina Peaches." What a lie! It wasn't ripe!
Hey, I can't stand when I see an ad such as "One bedroom apt $300, 123 Elm St." Only to drive there and find it's a crack house in the ghetto. They should somehow indicate (though I don't know what they can say that would be legal) that it's in the hood.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" I believe is the correct name of the story. I liked that as a kid, also "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator", though I don't remember it much. My fave was "James and the Giant Peach". I once saw a water tower in South Carolina and it reminded me of that story.
I saw Coke Zero at the store and couldn't figure what was the difference between it and Diet Coke. I figured it was a marketing tactic to get people who normally avoid diet sodas to try it. Personally, I haven't tried it. I do drink both Pepsi and Coke, but I also drink Diet Coke, especially the caffeine free type if I know I going to sleep soon. I don't want sugar or caffeine in me when I'm trying to sleep. I avoid Diet Pepsi because it's gross.
