On Howie Carr's show yesterday (WRKO Boston) a French immigrant called in saying that she came to America 20 years ago because back then they were going through what we are going through now in terms of immigration woes. Now she finds her personal history repeating itself.
I wonder when we will have "immigrant riots" like the ones they had in France recently? We came damned close last weekend in "protests" all over the country! Although it was nothing on the scale of what happened in Paris, there were recorded incidents of violence in various regional protests.
As for the boomers, they claim the 1965 Immigration Reform Act as one of their proudest moments and a big part of their legacy.
I'm glad that I'm not a boomer!
