A proposed new law in Denmark could be the first step towards an economic revolution that sees physical currencies and normal bank accounts abolished and gives governments futuristic new tools to fight the cycle of “boom and bust”.... But if notes and coins were abolished and the only way to hold money was through a government-controlled bank, there would be no escape.

Question for all freeper computer experts. I have a case where I have reason to believe that my opponent has faked the date and content of a website as it appeared in January through April 2011. I have used the way back machine and found that my opponent did not the information that they claimed to have had on the website between January to April 2011. I have not yet received any paperwork or computer file from my opponent. But when I do get the computer file, could it be faked with respect to the date and content? What would...

In a deliberate “show of force,” federal and local police forces raided a political meeting in Texas, fingerprinting and photographing all attendees as well as confiscating all cell phones and personal recording devices. Members of the Republic of Texas, a seccession movement dedicated to restoring Texas as an independent constitutional republic, had gathered Feb. 14 in a Bryan, Texas, meeting hall along with public onlookers. They were debating issues of currency, international relations and celebrating the birthday of one of their oldest members.

Employer mandates and penalties exist only in states with ACA subsidies, which are only available through state-based exchanges. Most individuals will also be exempt from the mandate and penalties because there's no "affordable" (subsidized) coverage.

In today’s Swiss gold referendum, roughly 78% voted against expanding central bank gold reserves to 20% of central bank assets from the current 7%, according to Swiss national broadcaster SRF. The vote is a blow to the movement to “Save Our Swiss Gold” that had the hopes of moving Switzerland back toward a gold standard which the country left in 1999.

November 17, 2014 Dear Physician, Each year, influenza results in an estimated 226,000 hospital admissions and 36,000 deaths. As you know, unimmunized individuals infected with influenza may be asymptomatic but still contagious and able to infect others. Health care personnel who are not immunized can unintentionally expose patients to seasonal influenza. Reducing influenza transmission from health care personnel to patients is a top priority both nationally and in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Healthcare Influenza Prevention Coalition, a group comprised of the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA), Wisconsin Medical Society (the Society), LeadingAge Wisconsin, Wisconsin Health Care Association (WHCA)/Wisconsin Center for Assisted Living...

The practice has been controversial since its inception at the height of the drug war more than three decades ago, and its abuses have been the subject of journalistic exposés and congressional hearings. But unexplored until now is the role of the federal government and the private police trainers in encouraging officers to target cash on the nation’s highways since 9/11.
  • Which Roman emperor does Obama most resemble, with respect to conduct and actions?

In the West, Imperial Rome begins in 27BC with the reign of Augustus and ends in 476 with Romulus Augustulus. Throughout this period, we can find good, mediocre and horrible rulers. America has often been compared to Rome, and today, like Rome, we see the transformation of our country from a republic to something closer to a dictatorship or autocracy. I know that many Freepers are Roman history bufffs, so we should come up with a pretty convincing consensus view.

Will Israel be the first cashless society on the entire planet? A committee chaired by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff has come up with a three phase plan to “all but do away with cash transactions in Israel”. According to a study conducted by MasterCard, approximately 80 percent of all consumer transactions in the United States are now cashless. If a government can track all of your transactions, it will essentially be able to monitor everywhere you go and pretty much keep track of virtually everything that you do.
  • New Medicare Harms to Home Health: Saving Dollars, But Costing Lives?

Obamacare has made drastic changes in Medicare procedures for obtaining durable medical equipment (DME) for home health services. Most patients will not be aware of the hidden new rules until they are hit with higher costs or denial of services or needed supplies. Medicare's new rules cut prices by 45 percent below the current fee schedule, on average, and 72 percent below current rates for diabetic supplies. What reputable business can survive a 45 percent or 72 percent cut in revenue? When patients' home health services are cut, the hardest hit are patients with chronic lung disease, congestive heart failure,...

The FOID Mental Health Reporting System was authorized by the FOID Act (430 ILCS 65) The FOID Mental Health Reporting System website provides clinicians and facilities with 24-hour and immediate access to report an individual that is receiving mental health treatment or is determined to be a "clear and present danger". DHS is responsible for comparing the data reported against the State Police FOID files to identify possible matches. The ISP is then responsible for investigating and processing the application for the FOID...
  • AAPS Warns Against Proposed “Permanent Fix” to SGR

    02/12/2014 10:45:26 AM PST · by grumpygresh · 6 replies
Once again, the American Medical Association is calling on patients and doctors to barrage Congress with pleas to permanently end the Clinton-Gingrich Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula for cutting Medicare costs. The proposed tiny yearly “updates” (0.5%) for 5 years are even less than the inadequate Social Security cost-of-living increases. The cost of a postage stamp, for example, increased by 6.5% in January. “How can the AMA possibly agree to a virtual 5-year fee freeze when the value of the dollar could deteriorate drastically?” Orient asks. AAPS argues that Medicare can calculate reimbursements however it likes, but the fee should...

Documents from an Ohio National Guard (ONG) training drill conducted last January reveal the details of a mock disaster where Second Amendment supporters with “anti-government” opinions were portrayed as domestic terrorists.... After excerpts of the report were read to him, Sims said it was “not relevant” to understand why conservatives may feel unduly targeted by ONG’s training scenario. “Okay, I’m gonna stop ya there. I’m going to quit this conversation,” Sims concluded. “You have a good day.”

The Boston Tea Party (initially referred to by John Adams as "the Destruction of the Tea in Boston"[2]) was a nonviolent political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, on December 16, 1773. Disguised as American Indians, the demonstrators destroyed the entire supply of tea sent by the East India Company in defiance of the American boycott of tea carrying a tax the Americans had not authorized. They boarded the ships and threw the chests of tea into Boston Harbor, ruining the tea. The British government responded harshly and the episode escalated into the American Revolution.

How does that geo-location work? Devices in the network's coverage area are "heard" by more than one radio in those APs (the off-white boxes). Once the network hears a device from multiple APs, it can compare the strength and timing of the signal to locate where the device is. This is classic triangulation, and users of Aruba's AirWave software—as in the Cabela's example—report that their systems are able to locate devices to within a few feet.
