But it's worth compiling these stories for another reason: if anyone ever blasts real cops as they bust in on a wrong-address no-knock raid, these fake-cop stories will be useful in defense.

Now when one of the local officers comes knocking on my door it is ususally someone I know asking for some advice on what to do to improve their shooting habits. The door is always opened and they are invited in for coffee or something stronger.

A no knock raid in the middle of the night would be met with accurate fire from firearm. I might go down but I would exact a price. Of course a no-knock raid in teh middle of the night is IMHO rather unlikely unless the Feds get the wrong address.

I do agree we need to reduce the burden on budiness but I find it interesting that Powell is trying to get India to reduce its trade barriers and not threatening some kind of retaliation in thi srealm. Everyone talks about us starting a trade war.

We are already in a trade war being waged against the USA by India China and some other nations all we are doing is disarming in the face of attacks.

Some companies must outsource to stay alive.

Then perhaps they should be the ones which are subject to the famous creative destruction as they cntribute little iif any to the US Economy.

More seriously the USA must demand that India remove its high tariffs andf other restrictions on entry of US goods and services to its markets if they wish to continue to freely export to the USA.

What the Democrats did was put into effect permanent MFN status for China, and agree to the current rules of the WTO which allow "Developing economies" like China and India to masintain high tariff barriers to American products and services while having free access to American markets.

Remember these are Clinton's trade policies in place and they are admittedly a form of wealth redistribution from the USA to poorer nations. Of course the Democrats will never discuss the truth and too many Republicans are in love with the rhetoric of Free Trade to lok at what we really are facing.

Actually it is very easy to make sense when one is not looking at the facts and putting up a straw man. The big problem is taxpayersubsidies for overseas investment, markets taht are not open to US produced goods and services, currency manipulations, government regulations on doing business in the USa and a tax structure that penalizes companies producing in the USA. All these problems need to be fixed.

It seems Squantos has listed the tests within the USA proper (lower 48). On this you are obviously contradicted by facts. Fallout danger is most from a major strike with hundreds or perhaps thousands of detonations within a day. One should not misstate risks based upon media coverage over the years. Get the facts about nuclear weapons they are scary enough in themselves without exaggeration.

Do not be so concerned about fallout during teh 1950's and 1960's there were numerous atmospheric tests and most of teh USA recieved fallout as did many other nations. A big hole in the ground may be just what it takes to discourage some of those who are overenthusiastic about killing Americans. I am not yet advocating using them but I am not ruling them out. I was merely pointing out some of the Islamic nations that are not aligned with us.

IMHO we should not rule out reponding with nuclear weapons in teh event of a Chemical Biological or nuclear attack on US soil if said attack were to kill thoudands.

Second and foremost you are either mistaken on your historical facts which since I asked you to show some facts and you attacked instead I must conclude you are merely another lying dDemocrat seeking to hurt the Republican Candidate in Illinois Mr. Ryan by defending him withlies.

Your complete ignorance of teh details of Smoot Hawley which contradict your statements and the mischaracterization of Fordney McCumber tariffs and teh economic effects associated with them merely shows you to be another gun grabbing anti-American Democrat who is trying to harm any Republican.

Excuse me the 1920's were normally regarded as a time of an expanding American Economy and the Fordney-McCumber tariff was given much of the credit for that. Now as to your qupting some propagandist for "Free Trade" when dicussing history I would suggest you learn some hiostory prior to doing so. Now since foreign trade was at most four percent of the economy please inform me how the actual decrease in foreign trade which was well in place prior to the Smoot Hawley tariffs taking effect lengthened the Great Depression. Show an econometric analysis which backs up this view. Jack Ryan may well be the best candidate for this office but as I stated he has not shown a knowledge of economic history or economics other than spouting the current mantras.

I further point out NO Conservative supports any bill that restricts the Second Ammendment.

I realize Illinois is a state where Conservatives have to take what they can get but do not state this gentleman is a rock solid Conservative with these views and do not misstate economic history.

Did Ryan have a basis for his statement based on reading the conclusions of many reputable economists? Clearly yes. Did that statement show a knowledge of the actual facts. Clearly, No.

Your mistaterments of history do little to help your preffered candidate and do much to harm him. Why do you persist? Are you actually a Democrat trying to hurt the Republican candidate? Are you merely another shill who will sacrifice every other principle in order to maintain the current fraud caled Free Trade which is merely a set of trade policies designed to discourage investment in the USA in favor of investment in "developing countries" and sociailist economies.

I would also point out that the 1920's were considered boom years in the USA. That boom coincided with protectionist tariffs. Of course until Clinton the uSA maintained protectionist tariffs with a goal of free Trade with many nations. Of course until Clinton US traiffs were the bargaining chip to open up foreign markets to US goods. Nafta is not the issue but the current trade envirornment is the issue. Ryan should lay teh blame where it belongs on the Democrats who in teh name of Free trade enacted an anti-investment trade policy for the uSA.

The effects of teh Smoot Hawley tariff were relatively minor one way or the other and it actually had some positive effects. As to the Depression being inevitable after 1929 there may have been some actions that could have been taken to avoid it but they were in monetary policy and fiscal policy not tariff policy. In thew interim people who learn false lessons from non-factual history have tried to dominate the debate on trade. The Smoot-Hawley tariff did nothing to cause the Onset of the Great Depression and the fall off in US exports was easily attributable to the decrease in the business activity in most European nations that had started as early as the mid 1920's in Austria.

The above said I was not a fan of a number of provision of Smoot Hawley but argue the tariff on the basis of fact.

According to Elliott Jackalope's source, he's right on the ball about the Great Depression and the disastrous protectionist policies that the sheeple are putting forward these days

That indicates a complete ignorance of the actual history involved. The Great Depression came to the USA in 1929 as a result of Fedreal Reserve policies put in place to coordinate with Bank of England policies. The Smoot Hawley traifs were enacted in June 1930 after the Depression was well underway. These tariff increases were put in place alongside other tax increases which caused even more damage to the American economy. The Smoot Hawley tariffs were mostly a response to foreign tariffs which had already been in place and foreign reponses to them.

Now as to disaterous protectionist policies please show one example from American history of disaterous protectionist policies since from 1789 until the Clinton era we had in place protectionist tariffs.

By the way I happen to believe in Free trade I only wish we actually had some. Now once more since this candidate supports making all private transactions involving firearms a subject of Federal inquiry by his supposed support for "closing the gun show loophole" and his trade stance is clearly based upon bad information regarding teh Great Depression no matter what "elliot Jackalope" states tell me how this man is not just some other Republican candidate who says he is conservative but will still go along with the liberal line.

By the way remember it was teh Clinton administration that negotiated our current trade envirornment and if he is suipprting that he is running on a Democrat platform.

One possible tax structure would be repeal of the Corporate income tax completely and its replacement with a Value added tax on imports. This could be entirely revenue neutral in that the same amount of money could be raised from both. Of course that would mean American businesses would be more competetive both here in teh USA and overseas.

That according to many of the so called Free Traders would be a bad thing.

There is no unalienable right to a job. Young people in college who can't find work and who turn to revolution -- is the stuff of failure.

I agree there is no right to a job but when the political envirornment makes jobs unavailable for a large and educated section of the populace there will be a revolution that is merely fact. Maybe it will be done via a Socialist government put in place as happened in the weimar Republic or it might well be some other mechanism but the results are still bad.

The job market was terrible in the 1980's but money was still going into R&D in the USA the result was a lonmg term increase in jobs. We also had Ronald Reagan in the White House who used his clout to help force open foreign markets and attract investment into the USA. The current economic envirornment is such that new investment is not pouring into the USA. We need to change that and that means such things as making the tax cuts permanent, cutting back on government over regulation, getting reasonable trade policies in place so foreign markets are open to American exports, getting a better still tax policy (eventually eliminating the business income tax and hopefully the personal income tax), tort reform, etc.

Then there is still the question of whether the ban is right or wrong.

What part of "not be infringed" do you fail to understand? Seriously go to a dictionary and look up assualt weapon and you will find that it is capable of fully automatic fire that is it is capable of firing more than one cartridge with one action of the trigger. The national firearms act of the 1930's sets very specific standards for possessing any firearm capable of fully automatic fire. This bills deals with semi automatic firearms. If a semi automatic firearm possesses more than two of certain features it is banned.

The fact that according to the US Constitution the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed makes any such ban prima facia unconstitutional is another matter.

According to contemporary testimony when the ban was first before Congress there was more chance of a police officer being killed by an escaped tiger than being shot with one of these so called "assault rifles." The features listed make the rifles look more military that is all. Perhaps teh pistol grip makes them easier to fire accurately but that depends upon the individual. Suffice to say most copetition target rifles outside of the Camp Perry competition do not have pistol grips.
