KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - A military helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan, killing 31 U.S. special operation troops, most of them from the elite Navy SEALs unit that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, along with seven Afghan commandos. It was the deadliest single incident for American forces in the decade-long war. The Taliban claimed they downed the helicopter with rocket fire while it was taking part in a raid on a house where insurgents were gathered in the province of Wardak late Friday.

After all of the latest news on the "capture and execution" of OBL, I went back to an "Opinion Piece" that I wrote almost 10 years ago. -- -- -- Osama bin Laden is Already Dead By Highwheeler at In the weeks since the terrorist airliner hijackings and the subsequent attacks on the WTC and Pentagon, both U.S. military and U.S. political strategies have been slowly revealed. Not every piece of information was overt and obvious to the casual observer about these operations. While certain pieces of information were outwardly and proudly proclaimed, most were the carefully and heavily...

The United States military is claiming that they have killed the world’s top terrorist in Abbottabad, Pakistan. This news has been met with much skepticism, however, as it is widely believed that the real Osama bin Laden died in December 2001. After decades of frivolously meandering around the Middle East in a “hunt” for Osama bin Laden, the United States military claims to have killed the world’s most wanted fugitive inside a million-dollar compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan yesterday. There have been no pictures released yet and bin Laden’s body was reportedly “buried at sea”. Was that the real Osama bin...

Executives at Goldman Sachs sold almost $700m worth of stock following the collapse of Lehman Brothers last September, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Most of the sales occurred during the period in which the investment bank enjoyed the support of $10bn from the troubled asset relief programme. The surge in selling among Goldman partners, at a time when the US government had thrown a lifeline to Wall Street, is likely to draw criticism from lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Having survived the crisis, the bank is expected to report strong second-quarter earnings on Tuesday on rebounding trading...

To get an important job, you have to be qualified for that job. Many times qualifications and skills are related. Demonstrated Education is one thing, Desire is another good character, and appropriate Experience counts for a lot. A job candidate should be able to express these in detail during their job interview. The list of important aspects of a person who will be chosen as The President of the United States should be wide and deep in all kinds of categories. I'm not talking about how a candidate stands on issues. Issues are like the obstacles you encounter while you...

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The city's police chief wants to give free bus tickets to the homeless so they can find housing with out-of-town family and friends and get help with problems such as mental illness. It is Chief Michael Chitwood's latest proposal to deal with the homeless population he thinks has given the beachside city a bad image. Chitwood thinks the bus-ticket idea will help the homeless and reduce their...

WASHINGTON -- U.S. companies will need to keep track of all the e-mails, instant messages and other electronic documents generated by their employees thanks to new federal rules that go into effect Friday, legal experts say. The rules, approved by the Supreme Court in April, require companies and other entities involved in federal litigation to produce "electronically stored information" as part of the discovery process, when evidence is shared by both sides before a trial. The change makes it more important for companies to know what electronic information they have and where. Under the new rules, an information technology employee...

Under the U.S. government's "wet-foot, dry-foot" policy, Cubans who reach dry land in the United States are usually allowed to remain in the country, while those caught at sea are sent back. How much do you like it? Enough to go to jail if you're caught doing it? If a new copyright and intellectual property omnibus bill sitting on Congresss desk passes, that may be the choice you'll face. How can this be possible?
