Is Bruno really porn? I haven’t seen it, but based on Borat and Cohen’s other work I seriously doubt it. Obscene yes, porn no. Porn is intended to sexually arouse, Cohen’s movies, while crude, are clearly inteded to be humorous (and at times are indeed very funny). Or as the post on this thread states in quoting the actual law, “such depiction lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value”. Cohen’s movies are satire, crude, but as I said often funny, and often on point about those they mock. As such they clearly contain “artistic value”.

I’m sure these people mean well, but really I don’t think it’s their business to tell other parents what movies they can take their kids to.

I remember listening to Reagan’s radio commentaries during the Carter adminstration, before syndicated political talk radio. They helped turn me from a young, naive lefty to a nationalist/libertarian Reagan voter in 1980.

The point is, I don't know if she will run, and neither does Steele. In fact my best guess is she hasn't decided whether she will, and there is no reason for her to rush that kind of decision. She is going to do the same thing through 2010 either way, and can decide sometime in 2011. In the meantime, keeping her options open also will keep up public interest in her.

Resigning from governor will allow her to help other conservative candidates and causes accross the country in a way she could never do while running the state government in Alaska.

Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell is a great guy who will be an excellent governor. Allowing him to establish himself in office and run for reelection should provide Alaska with good leadership for many years.

To say she didn't explain her "real reason" is like the leftie moronic claim that Bush never explained the "real reason" we went to war with Iraq. There are many reasons, all valid. Weighed together, they made her choice obvious. What part of that don't they get?

I agree with you except that I beleive Sarah truly hasn’t decided whether or not to run for President. In any case, she will by the end of 2010 she and her family will be financially independent, (reportedly a 7 figure book advance and 50-100K per speech). She will raise a ton of money for her PAC, for conservative candidates and causes, and can make the decision if she wants to run in 2012 sometime in 2011. It would be a huge decision, and would depend on her family, the state of politics including who else is running. If she doesn’t decide to run for president in 2012 (believe me, I hope she does), I could see her serving in some private capicity, such as president of National Right to Life or the National Rifle Association, and keeping the door open for a run later.

I don’t think she will wait, if she intends to run at all. The Obamunists will have screwed up the country so bad in 4 years it will be a now or never opportunity for change.

The Repbulicans problem is not that they don’t have good ideas. It’s that they have no credibility that they will do what they promise once elected. When they had both houses and the White House they failed on Social Security and Medicare reform, energy, balancing the budget, controlling illegal immigration, etc., etc. That why the Democrats could run as supposed tax cutters and budget balances. That anyone could believe that shows how pathetic the Pub business as usual corruption has gone.

What needs to be done isn’t dependent on new ideas. What’s needed is someone who really believes all that stuff that the beltway people ridicule about smaller government and American values. Yep. The only person I saw on Fox who seemed to have any sense was Lt Governor Parnell. How all those talking heads, Dems and Pubs alike can find her statement “confusing” is beyond me. I believe it was Parnell who said he didn't understand why they all were saying we have to wait and see what she was planning on doing when she made it very clear in her statement. He seems like a good successor to Palin.

Biden’s problem is he is used to bloviating on any subject without any consequences to his words. That’s pretty much the job description of a senator. He just encouraged every Jihadist in Iraq to go slaughter their neighbors if they want us to leave.

You don’t know what “kind, insightful comments” McCain may have offered her. It’s quite likely that they do have a good personal relationship, despite the backstabbing by some former campaign aides. By all accounts McCain was quite taken with her when he first met her, which led him to choose her. And she has never expressed anything but gratitude to McCain for choosing her. Exactly what I would expect from someone with Governor Palin’s class.

She’s not going to do a third party.

As for Obama, no he didn’t have a machine in 2005. He was a junior Senator, and all the unions and pols in the democrat party were ready to line up behind the defacto nominee, Hillary. He built a grass roots organization from scratch (actually Axelrod did) based on ideologically driven lefties who were tired of “moderates” like Clinton, and ran in oppostion to the party establishment.

Much as I would love to see her as our statdard-bearer, it’s possible she won’t want it. I think it’s very likely she hasn’t made up her mind yet, but is positioning herself to go either way (see my previous post).

McCain staffers with names stand up for Sarah Palin

Also speaking up to defend the governor was Jason Recher, who served as senior adviser and trip director for Palin during the general election. Recher told the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza that in the two and a half months he spent traveling with Palin, he:

“grew to like and respect her even more as did many of the folks on the plane.” Reche added that the people attacking Palin should “stand up and prove them on the record or move on with their lives like Sarah Palin has.

Like Recher, former McCain national finance committee chair Fred Malek has been consistently supportive of Sarah Palin:
“She has been vastly underestimated as a result of one or two interviews,” said Malek of Palin. “I have spent a lot of time around her and can state unequivocally she is smart, perceptive, curious, and absolutely on top of issues like energy which are pivotal to her role as Alaska’s Governor.”

The RNC should take note...

Unfortunately the RNC seems to fear Sarah almost as much as the left. After all, she didn't go to an Ivy League school, isn't a lawyer, hasn't lived in Washington, and she actually believes that limited federal government, follow the Constitution crap. She just doesn't get how things are supposed to work.

How many can’t pay, as opposed to people who can afford to pay, but choose not to on a house that will not be worth what they owe in the forseeable future? Many people who are upside down with no chance of selling have chosen to simply “walk away”.

Somebody should make a poster of Obama, Pelosi and Reid with the caption, “We're spending your kids’ inheritance!”
