Have a family member that recently retired from the Navy early because he was fed up with the lack of training of new recruits in regards to servicing the newer boats coming on line. As a big pleasure boat owner with diesels, you need to know the basics. It’s not rocket sicense.

I come at this as a staunch Christian conservative and small business owner. Come together, put a Republican in the White House, and then we can push our agenda.

By the way, GWB was one of the most down to earth people you could every meet. He is a real Christian, with all the deficiencies we all have, but always, always treated everyone with respect in his administration, including all those who worked in the Executive offices across the street

    I know that first hand.

Companies, corporations, and event planners are canceling coming to Balt left and right because of the situation there now, but they find a way to pay out this kind of money before the trial even starts? Really! Baltimore has been run by the DEMOCRAPS for decades. Most recently by blacks. The last 37 murders in Baltimore where black on black. Where is the outrage from the mayor on that. Both her and prosecutor are out of their league.

The place will blow up again regardless of how the trial goes and it will still be rich white republicans fault at the end of the day.

Now the cancer is back affecting her right rear leg making it hard for her to walk. Nothing we can do at this stage as the cancer is other places, BUT, she is still a happy dog. She still wants to go out and walk and smell and sniff as hard as it is for her to walk. She starts to hop on her three good legs. Okay, for all of you who have never been in a race car,one of the things you preach in to you in racing school issssssssssssssssssssss. DON’T GET OUT OF THE CAR AFTER AN ACCIDENT UNLESS IT IS ON FIRE!!!! THE CAR IS YOUR PROTECTION

Repeat after me. If the kid had stayed put like he should have nothing would have ever happened. You steer sprint cars like this by goosing the throttle to slide the back end out. Stewart may be a hothead at times, but he is a pro and never try to hurt someone. REPEAT AFTER ME, DON’T GET OUT OF THE CAR.

This could be one of several things. Terrorism is certainly a possibility. Having sold these boats, particularly the Fountains, you are looking at speeds in excess of 75 mph. There is plenty of cabin room down below to store explosives, easily a thousand pounds or so. Think the weight of five or six people. Also could have been stolen for parts. Take the engines and outdrives, strip out the other useful components and sink the hull. Third, could be to be used for human trafficking or drug smuggling. Big problem in FL over the last five to 10 years, with smugglers using boats like this to smuggle illegals in. Think about shoving 20-25 people on a boat like this at $2,500 a head and doing that for a couple of months. You can do the math. We had one of our Fountains stolen from the dealership on a holiday weekend and despite the best efforts of the police, marine police in several states and a client with a private plane flying up and down the Chesapeake Bay looking for the boat we never found it.

This article puts what happened in the proper perspective. I have also raced open wheel cars and sports cars for the last 10 years with Skip Barber and SCCA. Mark’s description of how a sprint car reacts to throttle and steering inputs is right on. You are sliding and drifting these cars to turn. I have been in situations racing in the rain, where it is very hard to see, or because of high humidity, your helmet is so steamed up after you slow down coming in to pit lane it drastically reduces your vision. Mark is correct again, in a yellow flag situation, you as a driver are checking your gauges, making adjustments to the car or your belts, you aren’t expecting a person on the race track to jump out in front of you. Add to that he had a black race suit and helmet on, it is a dirt track and dimly lit. It is a terrible tragedy, yes, but Ward should have never gotten out of the car until they safety crew got there.

They preach that in to you in racing school from day one. Unless there is a fire on board,DON’T get out of the car. It is your protection. My prayers are with Ward’s family and for Tony. This is something he will have to live with for the rest of his life. I agree that the uniformed media and low information voters that don’t have a clue about racing need to lay off Tony at this point.

If so, maybe that gives you a little bit of credibility to grade her. Otherwise, until you have been there and done what she has so far, I say again back off on the criticism.

Sitting in front of a racing simulator in your easy chair doesn’t count. When you can tell me you’ve been at Road America running down the main straight in the rain in an open wheel car half blinded by the rooster tail from the car in front of you, looking for your braking point references for turn one, then you maybe you can past judgement on her talent. I’ve raced open wheel Formula cars in one of the developmental series for the last couple of years as a hobby. Until you strap yourself in to the car and learn the skills necessary to drive at the limit she is, shame on you. Been there, done that from the Daytona Rolex course, Watkins Glen, and Laguna Seca to name a few. I’ve raced in the rain. I know how difficult it is do do what she is doing and we’re running in the 130 to 140 mph range. She’s doing over 220 miles per hour at Indy, flat out. Do you have any concept of how much skill and concentration it takes to do that? Obviously not.

This new bill is more devastating than anyone knows. I am part of a financial services company that specializes in recreational lending, i.e. boats and RV. Under the new regulations the banks will have to create a contract for every state they do business in, will be subject to audits on a whim by the government, we will have to disclose how much we are making, will keep banks from charging a prepayment penalty, (which prevents people from just using the banks money for a little while, when they say they are committing to a long term loan).

In short the lenders we are talking to are basically saying they are going to get out of the lending business. When no one can borrow money to buy something, guess what happens, businesses close, manufacturers go out of business and more people lose their jobs. Obama and his socialist buddies are determined to destroy the private sector in this country.

This bill affects every business that extends credit, down to your local appliance store. Guess who they are looking at exempting? Car Dealers and manufacturers. Does the word UNION come to mind?

Get involved, call your congressman about what this really means to every small business.

I haven't posted on FR for a while, but it is time to take the battle to the enemy, and yes they are the enenmy of everything that are founding fathers stood for and the constitution they crafted.

As a MD resident I am disgusted with O'Malley and his pretty boy left wing agenda. He had an absolutely horrible record in Baltimore as mayor on crime and education and the fools in this state elected him anyway. Between sections of Baltimore City who vote Democratic no matter how bad the candidate is and the far left fringe in Montgomery county we have one of the most incompetent politicians in office out there in power now.

Baltimore's per capita murder rate is higher than Baghdad's.

He is intent on raising taxes, doing away with the death penalty and going after business with increased regulation. Oh, and he wants to change our emission standards to be in line with CA's. Guess I'll be moving to NC sooner than I planned.

I had a 1969 Impala SS427 in 1978/79. Bought it for $650 and sold it for $900 after doing some work to it. Boy do I wish I had that car now. Wonder what it would be worth now. Oh well, shoulda, woulda, coulda. Thanks for the posting

God will judge this woman. I know first hand from White House staffers and secret service agents who worked in the White House while she was there that she had one of most foul, anti Gods mouths they had ever experienced. If you had to rate it according to movie ratings it would have been R bordering on X. True christians should be appalled and outraged by her using the Bible and Jesus's name to advance her agenda. Does the word "antichrist" mean anything to you Hillary!! Look that up in your Bible and then look at yourself in the mirror.

  • Fact check: Are American cars really that bad?

I wish american car manufacturers would build better cars. Our Ford Explorer starting falling apart with a little over 100K miles on it in spite of excellent maintenance. Our Lexus RX300 has 108K on it and has never had anything but routine maintenance done to it. Our BMW has 110K and other than a fuel pump that went bad it has just had regular maintenance. Until the US automakers deal with the union issue and stop relying on old engine technology they are never going to be able to compete with the likes of Toyota, Honda or Audi, BMW or Mercedez on the high end
