  • Spending bill hits hurdle as Pelosi demands changes, conservatives peel off

Okay, as a staunch conservative Christian conservative, let’s have a reality check here. We can bluster and carry on, win the battle and beat our chests, but we lose the war. We have control of both houses in January All the dynamics change, committees, investigations, on and on. We can dominate the narrative and the main stream media will have to pay attention and report

Again, let’s not win the battle and lose the war. This is a long slog

Okay, for all of you who have never been in a race car,one of the things you preach in to you in racing school issssssssssssssssssssss. DON’T GET OUT OF THE CAR AFTER AN ACCIDENT UNLESS IT IS ON FIRE!!!! THE CAR IS YOUR PROTECTION

Repeat after me. If the kid had stayed put like he should have nothing would have ever happened. You steer sprint cars like this by goosing the throttle to slide the back end out. Stewart may be a hothead at times, but he is a pro and never try to hurt someone. REPEAT AFTER ME, DON’T GET OUT OF THE CAR.

This could be one of several things. Terrorism is certainly a possibility. Having sold these boats, particularly the Fountains, you are looking at speeds in excess of 75 mph. There is plenty of cabin room down below to store explosives, easily a thousand pounds or so. Think the weight of five or six people. Also could have been stolen for parts. Take the engines and outdrives, strip out the other useful components and sink the hull. Third, could be to be used for human trafficking or drug smuggling. Big problem in FL over the last five to 10 years, with smugglers using boats like this to smuggle illegals in. Think about shoving 20-25 people on a boat like this at $2,500 a head and doing that for a couple of months. You can do the math. We had one of our Fountains stolen from the dealership on a holiday weekend and despite the best efforts of the police, marine police in several states and a client with a private plane flying up and down the Chesapeake Bay looking for the boat we never found it.

This article puts what happened in the proper perspective. I have also raced open wheel cars and sports cars for the last 10 years with Skip Barber and SCCA. Mark’s description of how a sprint car reacts to throttle and steering inputs is right on. You are sliding and drifting these cars to turn. I have been in situations racing in the rain, where it is very hard to see, or because of high humidity, your helmet is so steamed up after you slow down coming in to pit lane it drastically reduces your vision. Mark is correct again, in a yellow flag situation, you as a driver are checking your gauges, making adjustments to the car or your belts, you aren’t expecting a person on the race track to jump out in front of you. Add to that he had a black race suit and helmet on, it is a dirt track and dimly lit. It is a terrible tragedy, yes, but Ward should have never gotten out of the car until they safety crew got there.

They preach that in to you in racing school from day one. Unless there is a fire on board,DON’T get out of the car. It is your protection. My prayers are with Ward’s family and for Tony. This is something he will have to live with for the rest of his life. I agree that the uniformed media and low information voters that don’t have a clue about racing need to lay off Tony at this point.

Reality check. Rule #1 in a race car accident DON’T get out of the car until the safety crew unless there is a fire. I drive with SCCA as a hobby and every racing school preaches this to you. Black race suit, black helmut, dimly lit dirt track,, he should have never been there. I’ve been there in the rain racing and it is an extremely challenging environment.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.

Have you ever actually driven an Indy car or Nascar car yourself? Not a ride around, follow the leader but driven in a competitive mode? If so, maybe that gives you a little bit of credibility to grade her. Otherwise, until you have been there and done what she has so far, I say again back off on the criticism.

Sitting in front of a racing simulator in your easy chair doesn’t count. When you can tell me you’ve been at Road America running down the main straight in the rain in an open wheel car half blinded by the rooster tail from the car in front of you, looking for your braking point references for turn one, then you maybe you can past judgement on her talent. Been there, done that at Road American personally. I can speak from experience. Scary and incredibly exhilerating at the same time.

Andretti Green was competitive and winning when they were on the same technological level and financing level as Penske and Ganassi. If anyone remembers she qualified up front at Indy and had a couple of poles early on.

Since then, Andretti has been behind the curve in funding and engineering, including losing two of their top two engineers in the last year or so.

So I say again to all the naysayers out there, till you achieve what she has to date, I’d say everyone needs to back off a little on the criticism.

Enough of the Danica bashing. Until anyone posting here with silly, petty comments about where she finished has been there and done what she has accomplished you should keep your coments to yourself.

I’ve raced open wheel Formula cars in one of the developmental series for the last couple of years as a hobby. Until you strap yourself in to the car and learn the skills necessary to drive at the limit she is, shame on you. Been there, done that from the Daytona Rolex course, Watkins Glen, and Laguna Seca to name a few. I’ve raced in the rain. I know how difficult it is do do what she is doing and we’re running in the 130 to 140 mph range. She’s doing over 220 miles per hour at Indy, flat out. Do you have any concept of how much skill and concentration it takes to do that? Obviously not.

So lay off the girl. I look forward to seeing her in more Nationwide races and along side the other three highly skilled women, including one who was rookie of the year last year the beginning of May for qualifying at Indy.

This new bill is more devastating than anyone knows. I am part of a financial services company that specializes in recreational lending, i.e. boats and RV. Under the new regulations the banks will have to create a contract for every state they do business in, will be subject to audits on a whim by the government, we will have to disclose how much we are making, will keep banks from charging a prepayment penalty, (which prevents people from just using the banks money for a little while, when they say they are committing to a long term loan).

In short the lenders we are talking to are basically saying they are going to get out of the lending business. When no one can borrow money to buy something, guess what happens, businesses close, manufacturers go out of business and more people lose their jobs. Obama and his socialist buddies are determined to destroy the private sector in this country.

This bill affects every business that extends credit, down to your local appliance store. Guess who they are looking at exempting? Car Dealers and manufacturers. Does the word UNION come to mind?

Get involved, call your congressman about what this really means to every small business.

It is time to take the protests over Barrack Obama's health care coverage and the rest of his administration's and the liberals controlling Congress's left wing socialist policies to a level that the main stream, state run media can't ignore. I haven't posted on FR for a while, but it is time to take the battle to the enemy, and yes they are the enenmy of everything that are founding fathers stood for and the constitution they crafted.

I pose the question that through FR and associated legitimate groups whether we could organize a rally and march to coincide with Congress's return from recess that would start at the WH and end at Capitol Hill? It needs to be respectful and with no reason to give the left which has labeled us as the "mob" any ammunition to mischaracterize us as a bunch of fringe fanatics.

Between sections of Baltimore City who vote Democratic no matter how bad the candidate is and the far left fringe in Montgomery county we have one of the most incompetent politicians in office out there in power now.

Until the US automakers deal with the union issue and stop relying on old engine technology they are never going to be able to compete with the likes of Toyota, Honda or Audi, BMW or Mercedez on the high end

Interest rates rising are a normal part of an economic recovery. Let's put a little perspective on this. On a $30,000 loan for five years the difference in payments for example between 5% and 6% is $14 per month.

On a $200,000 loan for 30 years the difference between 5% and 5.5% is $62 per month. Neither situation is going to realistically affect peoples buying decisions.

George W. Bush is a Christian, his faith is real. I know that from people that are very close to him. But he is being pulled in many different directions right now to keep from upsetting the muslim world. We need to pray for him to get focused on his savior again and Christianity and stop talking about Islam. This is the prayer the country should be praying 2nd Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
