I was a huge CC fan. I was moved by his speech at the Reagan library... I especially remember when a mother of a teenage girl pleaded with him to run for the love of country...

I admit I am more of a social liberatarian and fiscally and militarily hawkish and so I fancied CC as being in the mold of a Guiliani.

In the primary..if it is Palin against generic fiscal conservative...the generic candidate gets the vote.

If fellow Rs vote her as the candidate...she gets my vote in the general regardless.

I run into lots of apolitical folks who are not fans of Barry and co. but voted for him anyway because quite frankly Palin and her statements and lack of presentation scared them. I desperately want the rats out of power and would be very disappointed if we give carter his third term because of a reflexive emotional tilt toward “Sarah”

Which leads to another point that worries me..the ‘Sarah’ phenomenon..in which her most avid supporters are in Hillary! esque fashion chanting her first name and personalizing their affection for this person.

One thing I have always liked about conservatives has been their more mature view of life and politics and their tendency to shy away from the cult of personality.

Granted I am a huge fan of Reagan...but that personal and historic adoration he gets is well deserved for decades of tangible success in sticking it to the left and liberating the American economy and power - while at the same time puching a massive hole in the iron curtain.

Sarah! has few if any tangible accomplishements to merit such a huge response.

so ... when you go to the consultant surgeon, ask and get a good fix on where your loved one is in terms of the severity of scolisis and how fast its changing. This will give you a better grasp of potential problems down the line and how much your hand is pushed toward surgery.

with that settled, then you ask the surgeon and make sure you get good answers about the number of surgeries performed, complication rate and hopefully the existence of a pediatric acute pain service. often , at the end of scoliosis surgery but still under gen anesthesia, the surgeon can put an epidural catheter under direct vision and this can be used for superb pain control post op.

As far as 2012, I dont have a short list. But I suggest that instead of focusing on the superficial (WHOS our leader), lets solidify the conservative message and pound the dhimms (in 2010) and highlight the damage they have dealt this country.

Take back the house, neutralize the senate. Get back to core principles, and hold the elected GOP to account (unlike the W years).
