  • DECEMBER 22, 2014 AMNESTY PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION HEARING (Hostage)

    Point of order:

At least some Presidential Memoranda are published in the Federal Register (see example at https://www.federalregister.gov/blog/learn/regulatory-improvement)

    And, some additional information:

Like executive orders, presidential memoranda don't require action by Congress. They have the same force of law as executive orders and often have consequences just as far-reaching. And some of the most significant actions of the Obama presidency have come not by executive order but by presidential memoranda.

    When these two forms of directives are taken together, Obama is on track to take more high-level executive actions than any president since Harry Truman battled the "Do Nothing Congress" almost seven decades ago, according to a USA TODAY review of presidential documents. - USA Today (17 December 2014) {emphasis added}

I'm white, and I've been treated like "the help", so it's not necessarily a race thing.

If you've ever lived in the Middle East, traveled there, or had much contact with Muslims, you most likely know what I'm talking about. And, if you are the help (maid, nanny, driver, etc. - I haven't been any of these, but I've seen how they are treated), you are treated like the scum of the earth.

So, if you are tempted to choose to be insulted if someone treats you in what you think is a demeaning way, GET OVER IT! Life is too short to go around looking for ways to be insulted.

I have two public-school-educated, dumb questions:

    1) If Native American-associted names are soooo offensive to soooooo many people (actually, only a few, most of whom are not Native American, including Elizabeth Warren), why are names like Ambassadors, or Anchormen, or Bishops, or Boilermakers, or Cowboys, or Dutchmen, or Engineers, or Friars, or Knights, or Ladies, or Lumberjacks, or Mariners, or Mechanics, or Olympians, or Patriots, or Saints, or Vixens not offensive to those groups of people?

    2) How long before PETA decides that the use of animal names for team nicknames are offensive?

    . . . 48-hour advance notice . . .

Translation: we need time to get our peoples here from Chicago.

. . . so-called “sanctuaries” in nearby churches where protesters can retreat during potential unrest . . .

Translation: where's a brutha to stash his haul and where's he to go when the PO-lice are in hot pursuit?

    Proposed Rules of Engagement

    1) The first priority shall be preservation of human life.
    2) Channels of communication will be established so that situations can be de-escalated if necessary.
    3) Police will give protesters 48 hour advance notice before grand jury decision is announced.
    4) Police will provide to the public information that makes clear the chain of command, who is making what decisions and the processes for deciding when the police response will be escalated.
    5) Every attempt should be made to communicate with protesters to reach "common sense" agreements based on these protocols, both ahead of time and at the scene of protests.
    6) Clear standards of professionalism and sound community friendly-policing will be maintained and adhered to at all times.
    7) Police will wear only the attire minimally required for their safety. Specialized riot gear will be avoided except as a last resort.
    8) Crowd control equipment such as armored vehicles, rubber bullets, rifles and tear gas will not be used.
    9) Police or other government authorities will not interfere with the free flow of information through tactics such as limiting cell or internet access, interception of cell or other mobile conversations or unwarranted wiretaps.
    10) Every attempt will be made to pinpoint arrests so that only individual lawbreakers will be arrested. "Kettling" and mass arrests will not be used.
    11) Safe houses shall be considered sacred ground and only entered by police when called upon or if extremely necessary.
    12) Media and Legal Observers shall not be considered participants in protests and shall be allowed to do their jobs freely.
    13) Every attempt will be made to provide alternate routes or other means for non-involved persons to get to places of employment and meet other transportation necessities.
    14) Strategically, police commanders will allow protests to take and occupy larger and more disruptive spaces than would normally be tolerated, and will allow occupation of those spaces for longer periods of time than would normally be tolerated.
    15) Police will be instructed to be tolerant of more minor lawbreaking (such as thrown water bottles) when deciding whether to escalate the use of force.
    16) Police rank and file will be instructed to provide every latitude to allow for free assembly and expression, treating protesters as citizens and not "enemy combatants."
    17) Excessive force and other forms of police misconduct will not be tolerated.
    18) Intimidation and harassment of protesters will not be tolerated. This includes pretextual pedestrian or traffic stops, contacting of employers or family members, pre-emptive arrests or detention of "leaders," publishing of private information and any other means of intimidation and harassment.
    19) Bond for arrestees will not be set above the levels which would be considered average over the last two years, and arrestees will not be held for periods longer than average lengths of time. Medical care will be liberally made available. Attorneys will be able to travel to and meet with clients without impediments.

Skin color doesn’t play much of a role for either person involved... A white thug would have been shot and a black police officer would have shot.

The only difference is that, if it had been a black policeman shooting a white thug, there would not have been any riots.

Does it not bother anyone that the real victims of the rioting are the citizens of Ferguson - those who have had their windows broken, their property looted, and their businesses ruined (or at least diminished)?

Oh, that's right, the rioting thugs don't care because most of them are not from Ferguson - they view this as an opportunity to get that TV Obama has been promising.

If a significant number of Ferguson residents would commit to standing up against the rioting thugs, a significant number of folks (white and black) would go to Ferguson to support them!

Standing against a wall naked, being in the same room as a pig, being without oxygen for a few minutes, sleep depravation - not even close to real torture!

    Some things to consider:

    - does it have a safety (maybe not so much for you, if you're well-practiced, but someone else may pick it up sometime).

    - is it single-action or double-action (affects accuracy and ease of trigger pull).

    - caliber (I wouldn't even want to get in front of a .22 hollow point).

    - how does it fit your hand (some smaller calibers have a pinky extension on the magazine)

For me, a Sig-Sauer P-238 (.380, semi-auto) is the right balance between concealability and stopping power.

I am about to retire and think I have planned fairly well ... for things I can control (mortgage - get it paid; car - don’t need a new one; expenses - don’t need all the movie channels or to eat out all the time; etc.).

But, what concerns me are the things I can’t control (stock market - not looking rosy in the near future; cost of living - the price of everything is increasing; tax rate - it’s bound to go up; Medicare coverage - it’s bound to decrease; Medicare Supplement cost - it’s bound to go up; etc.).

And, what’s most frustrating is that this president seems to be doing everything in his power to try to make my retirement as difficult as possible. What he doesn’t know is that my happiness doesn’t, in anyway, depend on him - it depends on Him.

    what design?

If you're really interested, Hawking is the one who admitted a design, which I interpret as exemplified by the following:

    - The obvious design in the size/distance relationship between the sun, earth and moon (called angularity, that rsults in the spectacular lunar and solar eclipses) - a relationship that is not even close anywhere else in the known universe.
    - The obvious design that allows a giraffe to bend over to drink and its head not explode, and then stand up and not faint.
    - The obvious design that allows a woodpecker to peck wood.
    - The obvious design of DNA - too complicated to have "evolved".

I could go on, but if a few of my favorites aren't enough to at least make a skeptic think, then nothing will.

Let me quote a few statistics and see if any liberals can connect the dots:

    - 85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes – 20 times the average. (Center for Disease Control)
    - 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes – 9 times the average. (National Principals Association Report)
    - 85% of all youths in prison come from fatherless homes – 20 times the average. (Fulton Co. Georgia, Texas Dept. of Correction)
    - Children who live absent their biological fathers are, on average, at least two to three times more likely to be poor, to use drugs, to experience educational, health, emotional and behavioral problems, to be victims of child abuse, and to engage in criminal behavior than their peers who live with their married, biological (or adoptive) parents.
    - Fatherless boys and girls are: twice as likely to drop out of high school; twice as likely to end up in jail; four times more likely to need help for emotional or behavioral problems. [US D.H.H.S. news release, March 26, 1999]
    - 57.6% of black children, 31.2% of Hispanic children, and 20.7% of white children are living absent their biological fathers. (Census Bureau)

There’s NOTHING racist about those statistics. What is racist is the poverty pimps’ refusal to recognize and address the problem!!!

  • On Claiming ACA Victory

    04/28/2014 10:22:06 AM PDT · 1 of 7
    jda
On April 18, the President claimed victory regarding his signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare). The fact that 8 million people have "signed up" was his excuse to assert that "this thing is working", that "it’s well past time to move on as a country and refocus our energy on the issues that the American people are most concerned about" and that "the repeal debate is and should be over".

But, the end zone victory celebration is kind of like claiming victory after scoring the first field goal, even though there are still 14 minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Before agreeing that ObamaCare is (in total) working, let's get little less propaganda and a few more facts, such as:

    - How many people have lost their doctor because of Obamacare (remember, "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor - period!")?
    - How many people lost healthcare because of Obamacare (remember, "if you like your healthcare, you can keep your healthcare - period!")?
    - How many of those enrolled were newly eligible for and enrolled in Medicaid?
    - How many of the remaining have enrolled in Obamacare?
    - How many have paid?
    - What are the demographics of those who have enrolled in Medicaid and Obamacare?
    - How many are eligible for a subsidy?
    - What is the total amount of subsidies?
    - What is the total amount to be paid by paying customers?

    - How many people were uninsured before Obamacare?
    - How many of those were newly eligible for and enrolled in Medicaid?
    - How many of the remaining have enrolled in Obamacare?
    - How many have paid?
    - What are the demographics of those who have enrolled in Medicaid and Obamacare?
    - How many are eligible for a subsidy?
    - What is the total amount of subsidies?
    - What is the total amount to be paid by paying customers?

Answers to these questions will provide answers to the following:

    - How many are still uninsured (this was the purpose of Obamacare)?
    - What is the average cost of Obamacare versus the cost before (this was also a major selling point)?
    - What will be the total cost of subsidies?
    - How much of the subsidies will be covered by poremiums from paying customers?
    - Where will the money for any deficit come from?
    - What is the average deductible versus before (another major selling point was that people were just an illness away from bankruptcy - that may not have changed and, in fact, may be a greater risk now because of the high deductibles)?

When the facts match the selling points, then the victory dances can begin.

Bundy is the cattleman who grazes his herd on federal land operated by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, but unlike more than 15,000 other ranchers, he refuses to pay the associated grazing fees. After 20 years of disagreements and court battles, the U.S. government began rounding up his cattle this month. The rancher and a group of armed supporters confronted the federal authorities, leading to a standoff; the authorities withdrew.

Once again, the MSM fail to comprehend the real story!

Let's assume for a nanosecond (for you liberals with a public education, that's not very long) that everything they say about Bundy is true. How does that justify the BLM bringing in 200 armed thugs, aiming their weapons at American citizens, and killing several of Bundy's cattle??

Bundy's supporters aren't saying he's innocent - they're reacting to the over-the-top, totalitarian display by the BLM!!

This is a very large stumbling block for me with faith.

I could have gone on and on with the evidence. But, in the end, true belief requires a step of faith - there comes a point when we all have to decide that it's all either true (there is a God, He created the heavens and the earth, He sent His only begotten son to die on the cross for the sins of all of us - even those who called out for Him to be cricified, and He rose from the dead to be seated at the right hand of the Father), or it's not, and then live accordingly.

I made that decision many years ago and have seen nothing since that causes me to question that decision. In fact, the more I learn, the more I am convinced that my decision was the correct one.

How and why do people believe this?

I can tell you why I believe it:

    1) There are over 600 prophecies about Christ in the Bible, and nearly 400 of them were fulfilled at His first coming - all in the most exact detail (born of a virgin; born in Bethlehem; lineage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David; etc.; etc.; etc.).
    2) Many of those were fulfilled at His death (coming into Jerusalem on a donkey on the exact day; marred more than any man; falsely accused; side peirced; bones not broken; etc.; etc.; etc.) and resurrection.
    3) The tomb is empty - even the skeptics at the time didn't dispute this.
    4) The tomb was covered by a heavy stone that took several men to move (a few women could not have done so).
    5) Ten of the 12 apostles, who all cowered during Jesus' "trial" and crucifixion, died because of their belief in a Risen Saviour (something they would not have done had they not believed with all their heart).
    6) He appeared to several people after His resurrection, including 500 people at one time.
    7) He appeared to Saul (who presecuted believers), who became the apostle Paul. If there were anyone who would have not wanted the resurrection to have occurred, it was he. But, he became a devoted follower and died for his belief in a Risen Christ.

    The evidence is overwhelming!!!

    04/04/2014 6:10:28 AM PDT · 27 of 31
    jda to 2ndDivisionVet

This is a good lesson for all of us, although the liberals are unteachable.

    1) The gun was purchased legally, with background check, so more gun laws or restrictions (even a total ban on guns) would not have made any difference.
    2) The gun was carried onto the Base where it was already illegal to have or carry a gun without special permission, so more gun laws or restrictions would have made any difference.
    3) Because others on the Base were not carrying guns (in accordance with Base rules), other than the MPs, the shooter was able to do considerable damage before he was confronted by someone who was carrying.
    4) Although there may have been extenuating circumstances in this instance (an altercation?), it is interesting that shooters don’t choose to go to a gun range, gun shop, or police station to do their evil.

Bottom line: people kill people - guns don’t. This is a concept that is beyond the intelligence of most of the low-information crowd (read liberals).

One thought I have had though: allowing concealed carry on a military base could put the MPs in a precarious and potentially dangerous situation because, (my assumption) a larger percentage would carry and the MPs would not who was or wasn’t and mistake certain actions as going for a weapon (it’s different in public, where I presume a smaller percentage of people actually carry). Maybe a better answer on military bases is to allow open carry?

    How moronic!

It is entirely possible, in fact highly likely, she just doesn’t want to give him the attention - much like many conservatives (including Megyn) didn’t use the names of previous mass murderers, including the previous Ft Hood terrorist.

Your low-information attack exhibits your own liberal bent.

  • Why Obedience to all Ten Commandments is Essential

I do not provide all of the scriptures to support my points below, but can do so if you would like.

The primary sense of what I was saying is that by “curse”, I mean: specific damage to yourself and humanity . . .

Yes, sin has consequences - sometimes to us, sometimes to our loved ones, sometimes to others, and sometimes to all of the above. But, sometimes, although we should never expect it, in His mercy and grace, God keeps us from all or part of the consequences. And, sometimes, He goes beyond the consequences to discipline us.

Can you illustrate one place where Jesus fails Himself to keep all Ten Commandments?

Jesus was perfect, and He was a perfect Jew - He kept the Ten Commandments and every other Jewish Law. He had to, otherwise He would not have been sinless. But, because He was sinless and was the eternal sacrifice for our sins, we do not have to be, and, in fact, cannot be perfect.

It seems presumptuous to suppose that to fail in one of the commandments cannot play a role in the loss of our soul.

I attempt to follow God's leading and Christ's example because I am saved, not in order to be saved, and to be His light and salt on the earth such that others will follow Him. If my works have anything to do with my salvation, then Christ's sacrifice was useless.

Do you think that it is impossible to lose your soul after putting your faith in Christ?

Yes, I can lose my salvation, but it is not on a day-to-day basis, depending on how good I am. I did nothing to earn or deserve my salvation, except to repent and accept Christ as my Lord and Saviour. How can I, therefore, do anything to unearn or undeserve that salvation, except to willfully reject Him.

How about answers to the following questions (instead of the propaganda):

    - How many people have lost their doctor because of Obamacare (remember, "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor - period!").
    - How many people lost healthcare because of Obamacare?
    - How many of those were newly eligible for and enrolled in Medicaid?
    - How many of the remaining have enrolled in Obamacare?
    - How many have paid?
    - What are the demographics of those who have enrolled in Medicaid and Obamacare?
    - How many are eligible for a subsidy?
    - What is the total amount of subsidies?
    - What is the total amount to be paid by paying customers?

Some simple questions. How about some straight-forward, no-spin answers???

Good for him - his accomplishments should be advertised as an example to all students. But, don’t tell any of the poverty pimps - they will insist he live in the ghetto to prove that whitey is holding him down. They can’t stand it when a minority works hard and succeeds without their help (come to think of it, have they ever helped anyone succeed???).

    Some quick points:

    - Don’t fall for the 0% interest on new cars. Ask what the price would be if you paid cash and I guarantee it will be lower - they’re in the business to make money, not give it away.
    - Don’t lease - again, they’re in business to make money.
    - New cars lose part of their value the minute you drive them off the lot.
    - If you borrow the money to buy a car, you’ll pay up to 30% more by the time it’s paid off.
    - As my Dad taught me, you can’t make money trading cars.

My advice to my son and daughter (and they followed it) was to buy something dependable, that you can afford initially (and it might not be much to look at), drive it until it won’t go, and save the amount you would have paid to borrow the money to be able to pay cash for your next car, which, hopefully, will be a step up.

So, someone please explain to me (I only have a public education) how anyone with half a brain can get the last words wrong?? And, didn’t they spend a lot of time figuring out who spoke the wrong words???

And, the search was initially north (even though they knew the plane turned south), then west, then south, then not so far south.

You stated that "If someone practices all but one of His ten commandments, that person will experience the curse of that one omission . . ."

I was merely responding to that statement. If failure to keep all of the Law condemns me, then what purpose did Jesus serve? I did not say that the Ten Commandments (or Jesus's modifications to them) are not applicable, but keeping them is not the source of my salvation. And, note that God's mercy means that I don't always suffer the consequences of my shortcomings, nor does He promise I won't suffer any of the consequences, but He does promise I won't suffer the ultimate consequence - eternal punishment.

As someone else pointed out, your ranting was hard to follow. So, I responded to the portion that was understandable and I still don’t see anything that indicates that you think differently, so I stand by my response.

And, rather than discuss the comment, you choose to attack the writer - I guess you don’t have any facts to support your statements. You must be liberal.

If someone practices all but one of His ten commandments, that person will experience the curse of that one omission . . .

I hardly know where to begin, so let me make it simple: if I am required to keep all ten of the commandments in their entirety, with no slips (which, you would have to admit, includes Jesus' modifications) to avoid experiencing the curse, what was the purpose of Jesus' suffering, death and resurrection???
