    Incumbents benefit from cheaper fuel prices. In the two months before the 2012 general election, fuel prices dropped 9% (37 cents) with OHIO (key battleground state between Romney/Obama) dropping 55 cents. Low fuel prices boost consumer confidence. Obama was re-elected. We all know (or should) that it is the Wall Street speculators who control the price of oil (not demand) but we also know that Wall Street gives more to Dems than Repubs. Quoting Jim Demint of the Heritage Foundation “...it amazed me while I was in Congress to see the big Wall Street banks, the big corporations — they give more to Democrats, many times more, than they do to Republicans because the big government, and the more it grows, the more it advantages them.”

    These low prices are a temporary gift to the incumbent Dems for Wall Street’s future advantage. Wink wink. Bought and paid for. Simple.

    met her in Winston at my old job. She needed a video made and my employer did the filming, editing, etc. I was the lowly secretary that delivered her lunch, messages, etc.

    She spent several days at our studio with Oprah’s boyfriend, Stedman. She was famous for a quote that went something like “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” She learned that from practice.

    Other than that experience, I had never met anyone so uppity and entitled. And I am 54 years old. Not a humble bone in her body. Maybe she hated me because I was WHITE...not rich...whatever. She was a hateful woman to those she considered beneath her...or those she imagined as the spawn of her oppressors.

    Regardless, condolences to her family.

    Your words are true...and that approach worked for many years in this country. One only had to work hard, pull oneself up by the bootstraps when things got tough, and persevere. This story illustrates the new truth.

    ObamaCare strikes again...this time it is getting personal. My adult child with three children and spouse worked approx. 40 hour week. 4 weeks ago, he began the process to get 2nd job to make ends meet. Planned to work 60+ hours a week.

    Meanwhile, with no notice, his full time job hours were cut to 20 hrs/week because of ObamaCare and federal standards requiring companies provide insurance to full timers.

    Nationwide, Federal standards have reduced full time status from the 40 hour week to 32 hrs.

    Thank God the 2nd job was already in process and he was officially hired last week. “Training” was set up for M-Th this week. As with his original employer, 2nd job cannot give him more than 32 hours because of ObamaCare rules.

    As soon as his hire/training schedule was known, his managers at the former full time job (the job that reduced 40 hrs to 20) were informed of a schedule conflict on Tuesday (two days ago). This was one of the few days he was scheduled to work. He was told by his employer that the 20 hr. job must take precedence and if he did not show up on conflicting day, he would be fired.

    With hat in hand and a humble heart, he approached the district manager asking to keep his job, thanking them for the job, explaining that 20 hours was not enough to feed his family, that he wanted to work, and asking for consideration concerning his conflicting schedule. He was fired because he had not given two weeks notice.

    So now, he is back to under 32 hours a week and looking for another job.

    He has no other choice but to apply for food stamps. You and I will be paying for their food stamps (out of our taxes) because federal regulations and ObamaCare have destroyed his ability to work fulltime. He wants to work.

    Thank you Obama for destroying the backbone of America’s productivity...our people and their ability to work hard and survive independent of government programs. May God help our children.

    Just had an interesting phone call. Friend of mine works for an Eye Surgeon in NC. Got their first ObamaCare patient. Early 50’s with cataracts both eyes. Too young for Medicare but no matter, as of this year, the practice no longer accepts it. Eyesight 20/1200 but he managed to pass his Department of Motor Vehicles driving test. ObamaCare deemed his surgery “medically unnecessary” because he passed the DMV test.

    They consider his cataract surgery elective i.e. he must pay for it in cash and it does not count towards out of pocket. IF he files the procedure under Obamacare, his deductible PER EYE is $11,000.

    In order to get his surgery “deemed” medically necessary, he must figure out a way to retake his driving test and FAIL it on purpose i.e. the ophthalmic exam is not enough proof. Then according to the insurance guidelines, the DMV must submit the required government paperwork documenting the failed eye test, and approval for the surgery may take up to 90 days. Government bureaucracy at its absolute best.

    That is a $22,000 incentive to purposely fail DMV testing.

    Who knew the DMV would be involved with our healthcare.

    This patient will be out driving. He can’t see and can’t afford the surgery. Motoring public beware. This will be happening everywhere.

    It was down to 21 degrees here last night so I hear you on the Zone issues. Hasn’t been that cold here even in the dead of winter for years. Even so, it gets up to the 50’s during the day and we try to roll back the cover’s if only for half a day.

    I was worried about one of my neighbors too. He is an older man who likes to bully everyone, I suppose, because he is bored. He hasn’t said a word about it (thank goodness) and we’ve had the flock for about 5 months.

    We are in a “restricted” neighborhood and the house behind us (not under covenant) came up for sale. We bought it for rental property and part of the agreement is we get to use the backyard for gardening and coop. It was the only way to one up the homeowners association.

    City ordinance does limit our flock size but as long as nobody complains we are good to go. I built an attractive coop and we keep everything clean to avoid odor. We even fenced off a paddock area for free ranging but the girls need supervision. They are bad to jump the fence into the garden area when no one is looking. We decided against a rooster because of noise. Usually get an egg a day per chicken so we had plenty available for Thanksgiving recipes.

    Luckily my husband is very proactive in the garden and we work as a team. I generally keep up with the weather and he helps me when a cold snap requires extra manpower.

    This is only our second winter garden and we didn’t expect such cold weather so early on. We had to order the row covers online and they got here the day before the first freeze. The plastic was when we went into panic mode and it was all that was available quick and economically.

    So far so good. No loss of any plants except a couple of ferns we were trying to save. We are going to cook a big pot of greens tonight and make cornbread. Good eat’n.

    NC garden update. We have been fighting really cold nights for the last couple of weeks. Below 30’s which has become quite unusual for our area this early (Piedmont). Last year only had a few weeks like this in January/February. So far the fall garden is surviving under floating row covers and 6 mil plastic but it has been a pain covering and uncovering. We have collards, turnips, spinach, kale, onions, snow peas, and carrots. Will try to post a pic taken about a month ago after we put up a few “cold frames” for the row covers. It has grown a lot since then.

    What we don’t eat we give to the chickens. They are doing better since we insulated the cracks and vents in their coop. One of my girls is in the chicken hospital with a broken toe. She is being “discharged” on Sunday.

    Our last project was a three chambered composting bin made out of pallets. Turned out pretty good and we have a full bin “cooking” and hopefully ready by spring. Our next project is a series of raised beds made out of 4X6 timbers. Found them for $10 a pc on Craigslist and picked up enough to keep us busy all winter. They were originally used to hold up guardrails and such along side the highways and are being replaced with metal. Cheap and no creosote either. Should last a good while.

    Will continue praying for you. Keep your chin up. Cancer is such a roller coaster ride.

    My first response was to learn all I could about my cancer (which led to challenges with my doctors which had definitive positive input on my treatments). My second response was to re-educate myself on nutrition and lifestyle strategies.

    My battle is in the early stages so the jury is out whether or not these changes have been physically beneficial. Certainly my lifestyle changes HAVE been beneficial emotionally. It gives me a sense of control and direction that a cancer diagnosis tends to take away.

    Spiritually, cancer has re-aligned my priorities towards a much healthier relationship with my Savior. I am thankful my church has a cancer support group called Harbor of Hope.

    Am I glad I got cancer? No. Has God used this disease to bless my life? Unequivocally YES!

    I pray the LORD continues to bless you and I as well as all other FR’s experiencing this disease.

    Be sure and research Oncotype testing of your excised tumor. It is a genetic test that determines if chemo will be affective against your specific tumor.

    Chemo would not have had any affect on my tumor and I was glad that I KNEW ahead of time. I did not have to endure the side effects of chemo for no purpose (and kept my hair)!

    Between 2008 and 2011 I wrote for a now defunct conservative website in the Carolina’s. We kept watch on the IP addresses of site visitors and were able to track consistent comments and log ons to the Navy out of VA, HOMELAND SECURITY, and the WHITE HOUSE.

    It was eerie and I wrote an article about these strange visitors to a local political site. We knew then something was going on.

    We were able to track the White House IP address to a particular office related to White House security but I cannot recall the name. Like an idiot, I just googled White House Security...so I will most probably be hearing the black helicopters circling in three, two, one....

    This dead argument offends our Constitution every time it is repeated. Repeating a lie often does NOT make it the truth.

    It is not a legal question for judicial usurpers to dictate definition upon their political agendas. It is a Constitutional question. The American people, NOT the Supreme Court, are the final arbiters of what is or is not constitutional. Nobody above a 3rd grade reading level needs a lawyer to explain the true meaning of three simple words, Natural Born Citizen.

    While it is true that our Judicial System was patterned after British Common Law and British court systems, it is FALSE to state that our Declaration, Constitution, Bill of Rights and system of self-governance were based upon British Common Law. Our Founders placed ALL faith in the people, not government or the courts, which they had seen corrupted from top to bottom in England. They entrusted ALL of our fundamental rights as “Endowed by our Creator” under Natural Law or the Laws of Nature, NOT British Common Law, which they had just separated from in the American Revolution.

    An “anchor baby” i.e. Rubio, is a child born in the U.S.A. to parents who are not legal U.S. Citizens AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD’S BIRTH. (Rubio’s parents, by his own admission, did not receive benefit of naturalized citizenship until he was four years old). Under the 14th Amendment and subsequent immigration and naturalization laws, the U.S.A. grants that child “naturalized citizen” rights at birth and then that child becomes an “anchor” upon which the foreign parents can apply and usually receive naturalized citizenship as immigrant Americans.

    While our immigration and naturalization laws currently offer general citizen rights to “anchor babies” like Rubio, born in the U.S. to foreign parents, the 14th Amendment has no bearing at all upon the definition of Natural Born Citizen or the Article II constitutional qualifications for the office of President and Vice President.

    A citizen is either naturalized under the 14th or Natural Born to legal citizen parents, exempt from all immigration and naturalization laws and amendments. It is not possible to be both.

    An anchor baby is NOT a natural born citizen. His parents were immigrants albiet legal IMMIGRANTS. Rubio’s parents did not begin their immigration and naturalization process until more than four years after Marco’s birth, more than fifteen years after they took residence in the U.S. Therefore, they could not confer upon Marco that which they did not possess at his birth, U.S. Citizenship.

    For heavens sake, this foreign aid package was “decided” in 2010, and its been THREE YEARS and the Republicans can’t seem to figure out how to regroup and stop this TREASON????

    Yet...we can deliver ON DEMAND and within hours of a vote FOUR 17 million dollar F-16’s!!!!!!

    Got a friend with a huge wide screen 3D. That’s some scary stuff right there. Watched some show with a murder and dead body on the screen. Seemed like the body was right next to my chair. Weird....

    Course, I am considering watching football at their house after tonight LOL.

    Hey Brian’s mom...we had the neighbors over and ALL of us noticed this “end zone” action. It was hubby who came up with “squirrel doing the twirl.” When the ladies perked up and started watching the game, all the husbands promised to teach us the “in’s and out’s” of the game LOL. Gracious mercy...we have laughed over this till tears!!!
