No, there is not. You need to study the nation's demographics. There are not enough American working age people. Period. Full stop. There is no way around this. The population of the US does not have enough working age people to fund SS. The way to address that is very precisely what you suggest, and what I suggest. We're in agreement. Have the job done by legal immigrant workers -- which is what an illegal becomes after enduring his punishment and parole.

Only in this way can the SS tax base keep your parents from starving and allow you to retain your conservative credentials by opposing tax increases.

No, we are not in agreement. You want to reward illegal alien lawbbreakers and I don't. There are currently millions of able-bodied Americans on welfare. We need to kick these Americans off of welfare and put them to work, or let them starve. In addition, we need to increase the number of legal immigrants that we let into the United States. There are currently tens of millions of foreigners around the world who have already filed their paperwork and who are waiting patiently for their turn to legally immigrate to the United States. These are the people who I want to reward with jobs, not the illegal aliens who have no respect for our laws.

By deporting the illegal aliens and letting in more legal immigrants (along with kicking Americans off of welfare), Social Security will continue to get funded and we won't need to increase taxes.

But this is not how the world would work if illegals are punished and paroled. As fully documented workers, they would insist on jobs where SS is witheld from their paychecks for the very obvious reason that this is how they would qualify for their own pensions someday.

There you go again, advocating rewarding lawbreakers for violating our immigration laws. We don't need illegal aliens in the United States for any reason. Any job currently being done by an illegal alien can be done by an American worker or a legal immigrant worker.

If you advocate deportation rather than punishment through fine, documenting and expanding the SS tax base, then you are advocating tax increases. There Is No Mathematical Way Around This. Demographics define this.

Make your choice. Do you advocate extra government spending on escorted busrides to the border and sharp, painful increases in SS taxes or do you want to punish illegals, parole them and make them contributing members of society. There are no other choices.

Yes there is another choice. Deport all illegal alien lawbreakers and replace them with American workers and legal immigrant workers. By doing this, we will be expanding the SS tax base and we won't need to increase SS taxes.

Why is this called amnesty? Clearly it is, rather, punishment and parole. They are punished for their crime, they pay their debt to society and they then are documented and fund your parents' Social Security. What can possibly be bad about this?

Legal immigrants can also fund Social Security. If we need more foreign workers, we can let in more legal immigrants. We don't need illegal aliens in the United States for any reason.

This proposal I'm making is a punishment and parole program. They violated the law. They are punished properly as is any other lawbreaker. They then toe the line and fund Social Security. Get It Through Your Heads. There is No Other Source Of Working Age Adults Available. Period and Full Stop. If you advocate deportation of working age people, you are an advocate of Social Security tax increases.

I want to replace illegal alien lawbreakers with legal immigrants who haven't violated our immigration laws. By doing this, Social Security will continue to be funded and Social Security taxes will not need to be increased.

This proposal is about funding Social Security and it is about the men, or single non mother women. It is they who it makes no sense economically to deport.

If we deport illegal aliens and replace them with legal immigrants, we will keep the American economy going strong.

One who pays a fine and executes the process for becoming a proper legal immigrant can't really be called amnetized, can they? Would not amnesty presume no fine, i.e., no debt to society was paid?

If an amnesty is given to the millions of illegal aliens currently in the United States, our federal government will have forgiven the fact that these illegal aliens entered the country illegally by not enforcing the laws against them that mandate that they should be deported for having violated our immigration laws. Just because these illegal aliens might be required to pay a fee (or a fine, if you please) doesn't mean that these illegal aliens didn't receive an amnesty for having violated our laws.

well i just wanted to say that this may be a lie. it has been proven that immigration actually helps the economy

Legal immigration is good for the economy. Illegal immigration is lawbreaking, pure and simple. We don't need illegal aliens in the United States for any reason. Any illegal alien currently working in the United States can be replaced by an American worker or a legal immigrant worker without any harmful effect to the economy.

because i don't think any one alse is willing to go work out in a field in a 102 degree day. they help bring those wonderful fruit to the table everyday. and plus, almost everyone buys the stuff that the immigrants make.

Millions of Americans work in the fields every day, planting, raising, and picking our fruits and vegetables, and bringing them to our tables. These Americans, who work in all kinds of weather, including 102 degree days, are the people who I buy my fruits and vegetables from.

in my opinion i don't think you should judge the "illegal immigrants" as much as you do.

Illegal aliens should be judged for what they are, lawbreakers.

To save Social Security, there must be a procedure put into place to convert these people into tax paying residents.

Or we could simply replace him with a legal immigrant worker, and then the legal immigrant worker would be paying into Social Security.

Capital punishment does not deter murder. States with the death penalty have a higher rate of murder than those without it.

It seems to me that the states with the highest murder rates would naturally have more of a need and desire to have the death penalty available to use against the many convicted murderers in those states.

There is nothing in any article that contradicts the fact that we don't need illegal alien lawbreakers in the United States. If we do need more foreign workers, Congress can increase the number of foreigners who will be allowed to legally immigrate to the United States, even under a guest worker program if necessary.

The bottom line is that we don't need illegal aliens in the United States for any reason. Any job that needs to be filled can be filled by either American workers or legal immigrant workers. If we need additional workers, Congress can increase the number of legal immigrants that we let in, either by way of a guest worker program or other visa programs. We can also kick able-bodied Americans off of welfare to increase the number of available workers.

They wash dishes more cheaply than locals would, benefiting anybody who ever goes to a restaurant.

Yes, illegal aliens do drive down wages. And the money saved by restaurant owners who employ illegal aliens go into the owner's pockets, benefitting solely the owners.

This nation became GREAT by taking in the GREATNESS of MANKIND.

Our FOUNDING FATHERS were FRENCH, or RUSSIAN, or INDIAN, or IRISH, or BRITISH, or DANISH, or AFRICAN, or..... So were those who flock to these shores for the promise of a chance to OPENLY COMPETE FOR THE BEST OF LIFE.

As long as foreigners who "flock to these shores for the promise of a chance to OPENLY COMPETE FOR THE BEST OF LIFE" come here legally, I have absolutely no problem with that. But I do have a problem with foreigners who violate our immigration laws by coming to the United States illegally or by staying after their visas have expired.

If you CLOSE the borders, you have a serious financial collapse from various sectors of the involved countries.

When people talk of closing the borders, they're talking about closing the borders to illegal immigration and terrorism. They're not talking about closing the borders to commerce or to people legally crossing back and force.

The men that come across the border and work for contractors (against the law, only because the contractor WHO USUALLY IS AMERICAN, saves money by paying under the table) have to get to the hiring depot and take their chances. They are very orderly and behaved about the process, and show much more civility than AMERICAN women at KMART on the day after THANKSGIVING.

You're dead wrong about this. I have read numerous accounts of "day laborers" harassing women who walk by, of urinating in public, of littering, and of swarming around any vehicle that pulls into the parking lot of the stores that the "day laborers" are standing in front of and frightening the people in the vehicles who are there solely to patronize the stores.

They have the same goals as you and I.

They want to feed their families, and they want to be free some day.

Many Americans had ancestors, long ago, or even recently, who had and pursued those same goals.

Good. Then they can do what my ancestors did by applying from within their home countries to legally immigrate to the United States. There are millions of foreigners around the world right now who have already filed their paperwork and are now patiently waiting for their turn to legally come here.

WE DON"T WANT TO KEEP EVERYONE OUT. JUST THE BAD GUYS.

The vast majority of Americans want to keep out terrorists and illegal aliens.

What a simple idea. Problem is it will never happen.
Something needs to be done to track these workers WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS and Bush is trying to do that. The reason even Reagan chose amnesty at one point ought to point out to people the great difficulty in this issue.
