Trooper Bonderanka said the officers in the 17-member Canonsburg police department responded to a call for a domestic disturbance at 3:13 a.m. and were ”ambushed upon their arrival.” The call came from the occupant of the adjoining residence. The officers — Scott Leslie Bashioum, who was killed, and an unidentified officer who is currently out of surgery and in stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital — arrived on Woodcrest around the same time in separate vehicles. They got there within about six minutes of the 911 call. It was not clear whether either got out of his police car or...

...he doesn’t like the gang effort he’s seeing to tear down Trump and push him out. He says it’s like 12 against 1, and there’s no question in his mind that this is happening because he’s seen this kind of gang attack before.

"The Maronite leader said the meeting with Obama was productive, according to the Daily Star.” Productive for whom and in what manner? It seems Iran has found a way to influence American foreign policy even while they denounce America and build a nuclear capability. There can be no doubt that this whole episode was devised by the Ayatollahs, Hasan Rouhani, their best proxy army Hezbollah, and its leader Hasan Nasrallah. How better to infiltrate D.C. at this time than to masquerade as holding a conference on defending Christians — interestingly enough there was no support from the major Christian conservative...

Funding for the conference was provided by Clinton donor and Lebanese-Nigerian billionaire Gilbert Chagoury, according to organizers. The wealthy businessman pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009. Chagoury is also reportedly backer of Lebanese politician Michel Aoun, Hezbollah’s top Christian ally in the country, according to U.S. diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks. Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Raï, who was scheduled to speak during the same keynote slot as Cruz on Wednesday evening, has called Israel an “enemy state that is occupying Lebanese territory” and defended Hezbollah’s right to attack the Jewish state... What I discovered the next day is that Cruz had known exactly what he was doing. Indeed, he had read the article that had been published about the event just that day and which essentially repeated Frank Ghadry’s allegation that the conference organizers were close to Hezbollah.  Whether Cruz ever contemplated withdrawing from the event is not certain, but what is clear is that he was keenly aware of the alleged links between the organizers of the event and Hezbollah, and he was not going to let that go untested. Many have criticized Cruz since the event, saying he should have...

The Pentagon moved swiftly to shoot down a New York Times report Thursday afternoon that American military forces had bombed at least two places in northern Iraq targeting fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS). "Press reports that US has conducted airstrikes in Iraq completely false. No such action taken," Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, wrote on Twitter. President Barack Obama is preparing to make a statement Thursday evening, the Times reported. The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The Times reported, citing Kurdish officials, that U.S. military forces...

Our Lord and Savior has shuffled off the mortal coil of my father and called him home to his kingdom after 63 yrs. of faithful service on Earth. He leaves behind a grateful, joyful, and sadenned Wife, Son, Daughter, Grandchildren, and friends. I apologize if I'm not posting this correctly, but I kindly request any prayers that you might offer for my Dad. About six weeks ago, my Dad went to the Cardiologist (after months of feeling increasingly sluggish). It turned that a previous lingering cold gave him a heart infection that (although gone at the time) reduced his heart function dramatically. ..to about 15%. They gave him a vest that acted as a defib and compression to strengthen the heart. He was feeling much better but last night he exhibited heart attack symptoms and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital....

Earlier this week, there were reports and commentary to the effect that the House Republican leadership had surrendered and fallen in with those conservatives who think that the continuing resolution to fund the government can be used to stop funding for Obamacare. Then there were claims that Senator Cruz had given up on fighting Obamacare in the Senate. Both of these perceptions were false, and they’re related. Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor are just as convinced as ever that a partial government shutdown would not advance any conservative goal, and just as determined to avoid one. They...

Once a clear Common Core supporter, Scott is in a political bind. Tea party groups, which make up an important part of his base, want Florida to jettison the new standards and tests. But schools across the state are already teaching Common Core, and Republican leaders in the House and Senate are standing behind the benchmarks. The Common Core standards outline what is expected of students at each grade level but do not include suggestions for books or how teachers should plan their lessons. The benchmarks, created by the National Governors Association and Council of Chief State School Officers, have...

(Reuters) - The U.S. National Security Agency has secretly developed the ability to crack or circumvent commonplace Internet encryption used to protect everything from email to financial transactions, according to media reports citing documents obtained by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. The Guardian, The New York Times and journalistic nonprofit ProPublica reported on Thursday that the U.S. intelligence agency used a variety of means, ranging from the insertion of "back doors" in popular tech products and services, to supercomputers, secret court orders and the manipulation of international processes for setting encryption standards. The publications said the NSA and its British...

Heritage Action on Wednesday said it opposes a military strike against Syria, a position that will put pressure on Republicans to block President Obama’s request. The group said Tuesday’s Senate hearing made it clear there was no vital U.S. interest at stake. “Further, there is not a clear, achievable, realistic purpose to the use of force being contemplated by the Obama administration and officials offered little evidence such action would prevent further abuses,” the group said in a statement.

By Pete Williams, Kristen Welker and Erin McClam, NBC News Federal agents on Wednesday arrested a suspect in the mailing of letters to President Barack Obama and a U.S. senator that initially tested positive for the poison ricin. The suspect was identified as Kenneth Curtis of Tupelo, Miss., federal officials told NBC News. Both letters carried an identical closing statement, according to an FBI bulletin obtained by NBC News on Wednesday. According to the FBI bulletin, both letters, postmarked April 8, 2013 out of Memphis, Tenn., included an identical phrase, "to see a wrong and not expose it, is to...

In the agenda, he predicted the total destruction of the coal industry by as early as 2030. He said conditions for his business would deteriorate because of more regulation and taxes, weaker economic activity and reduced energy pricing. In the prayer, Murray wrote, in part: “The American people have made their choice. They have decided that America must change its course, away from the principals of our Founders. And, away from the idea of individual freedom and individual responsibility. Away from capitalism, economic responsibility, and personal acceptance.” He concluded by asking God for forgiveness for the layoff decisions. “Lord, please...

Con Ed officials said they offered to extend the current contract until July 14 in an effort to reach a new deal, and sent NY1 a signed document showing it made the offer. The company says it dismissed the workers because it could not get assurances from the union that it would not call a sudden strike. The utility also says the contract extension offer remained on the table. "We offered a two-week extension of the current contract letting all of the members continue to work this week and the next, as long as there was no threat of a...
