Computer "scambaiter" Mike (no surname given), 42, received a random email from a man claiming to be Prince Joe Eboh, chairman of a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Eboh said he needed to get money out of Nigeria and was offering to transfer $US25 million to Mike's account if he would send his bank details. Mike was promised $6.25 million if he helped.

Mike sent an email back, calling himself Father Hector and saying he would love to help but he could only have business dealings with members of his religious order, the Holy Church of the Order of the Red Breast.

Eboh said, of course, he would convert. Mike sent him details on how to paint a red circle over his breast to join.

Eboh duly sent Mike a picture of himself with painted breast and signed a membership form vowing not to covet his neighbour's ass, to never listen to hip-hop and to honour the words of church guru Shiver Metimbers. Eboh pleaded for $18,000 to register the church in Nigeria so he could transfer the $25 million.

Mike hit back, saying that under church rules he had to pay a clearance fee of $80 before he could withdraw $18,000. As a monk he had no money and asked Eboh for it.

Surprisingly, Eboh sent Mike the money by courier, which cost him $49. Eboh was down $129. He then got a message from church elder Father Mike Myers saying Father Hector had run off with $18,000 in church funds.

Father Hector sent a last email telling Eboh he had lost the money investing in a business exporting snow to Siberia and run off to join a circus.

There is big money behind the scams. US police estimate $US200 million is conned from American citizens by this sort of scam every year.

It's unknown how many Australians fall for the scam, but this month a financial planner in Victoria pleaded guilty to defrauding clients by giving $1.04 million of their money to a Nigerian scamster.

Mike said the scamster was caught by the same thing that trapped his victims: greed.

"It's greed that makes this scam work," Mike said from his Manchester home. "The prince was desperate to get $18,000 and the scammer was scammed by his own greed."

I rarely watch the 'Oneyedidiot', tonight I made an exception.

I started early on CSPAN, the warmup was predictable and of course necessary...BUDWEISER BEER laid off the biggest chunk of cash in sponsorship; I can't drink BUD it gives me severe headaches, Mr Smugippysun sure feels like he is a powerful dude doesn't he, actually I think Cras Smugippysun is more of an elitist than the Greyfrosted waffle. The First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush has real class...maybe my eyes deceived me, it appeared to me that 'thk' staggered twice while entering the set, and she seemed to pass Mrs.Bush ignoring her hand, the CSPAN camera was switched very fast to another angle...thk wore a wrinkled beige/off-white linen or muslin long cut blazer...dang all those BIGBUX...lousy makeup, unflattering cut to the clothes, no hairdresser has gotten anywhere near her in a dawgs age...sheesh I hope B. Breathed does some zingeroos on them.

The Kurr's foppish gestures and wiggles coupled with it's frosted Helmet-doo don't make it look the least bit Presidential...It stated 'he made $ 84.00 last year in lumber company profits'...DUH...some powerful stuff huh. Correct me if I'm wrong, this election year, 2004 AD, has been very interesting...the democRAT political machine has presented us with millions of dollars worth of PRO-BUSH/CHENEY advertising and has thrown up such poor choices that it is imposable for a honest win for their bid for the Presidency.

How can any sane voter want that fop for POTUS ?

  • Photojournalist Eddie Adams Dies at 71

    09/19/2004 2:16:19 PM PDT · 1 of 9
NEW YORK Sept. 19, 2004 — Eddie Adams, a photojournalist whose half-century of arresting work was defined by a single frame a Pulitzer Prize-winning Associated Press photo of a communist guerrilla being executed in a Saigon street during the Vietnam War died Sunday. He was 71.

Adams died at his Manhattan home from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease, said his assistant, Jessica Stuart. Diagnosed last May, he quickly lost his speech but remained alert and worked into his final days.

In addition to his photographs of 13 wars, Adams' images of politics, fashion and show business appeared on countless magazine covers and in newspapers around the world. His portraits of presidents ranged from Richard Nixon to President Bush, and those of world figures included Pope John Paul II, Deng Xiao Ping, Anwar Sadat, Fidel Castro and Mikhail Gorbachev.

But fame instant, enduring and discomforting resulted from a single photo taken Feb. 1, 1968, the second day of the communists' Tet Offensive, in the embattled streets of Cholon, Saigon's Chinese quarter.

Drawn by gunfire, Adams and an NBC film crew watched South Vietnamese soldiers bring a handcuffed Viet Cong captive to a street corner, where they assumed he would be interrogated. Instead, South Vietnam's police chief, Lt. Col. Nguyen Ngoc Loan, strode up, wordlessly drew a pistol and shot the man in the head.

Adams caught the instant of death in a photo that made front pages around the world. It would became one of the Vietnam's War's most indelible images, shocking the American public and used by critics to belie official claims that the war was being won.

In later years, Adams found himself so defined and haunted by the picture that he would not display it at his studio. He also felt it unfairly maligned Loan, who lived in Virginia after the war and died in 1989.

"The guy was a hero," Adams said, recalling Loan's explanation that the man he executed was a Viet Cong captain, responsible for murdering the family of Loan's closest aide a few hours earlier.

"Sometimes a picture can be misleading because it does not tell the whole story," Adams said in an interview for a 1972 AP photo book. "I don't say what he did was right, but he was fighting a war and he was up against some pretty bad people."

Adams won a 1969 Pulitzer Prize for the Saigon execution picture, among the more than 500 honors he received in his career, including a 1978 Robert Capa Award and three George Polk Memorial Awards for war coverage.

Born Edward Adams on June 12, 1933, in New Kensington, Pa., Adams served as a Marine Corps combat photographer in the Korean War and became one of the nation's top photojournalists with newspapers, the AP from 1962-72 and again from 1976-80, and with Time-Life, Parade magazine and other publications.

A crafter of images, Adams also cultivated his own a prickly personality with a studied flamboyance that included a black wardrobe, a neck scarf and a wide-brimmed porkpie hat.

Parade chairman Walter Anderson, a longtime friend, called Adams "eclectic, incomparable, cantankerous," and skilled at "capturing tension" in his photos.

Adams had no social or political agenda, but was at heart "a hard-news photographer, always sharply focused on the picture that tells the story," said Hal Buell, AP's former executive photo editor.

"He was also a perfectionist who would go to the mat over anything he saw in the editing that he felt detracted from the story but he was most critical of himself, for opportunities missed or not up to the high standards he set," Buell said.

Once, after making a portrait of comedian Jimmy Durante, Adams discovered the tip of Durante's trademark "schnozzola" was out of focus, and lugged his gear back to do the job over. "Durante saw him coming," recalled Buell, "and said, `You screwed up, huh, kid?'"

Adams' latest project included a video profile featured on Jerry Lewis' annual 24-hour Labor Day Telethon to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association an event that Adams himself once regularly photographed.

"I'm touched by the courage and strength he's shown in facing ALS," Lewis said.

Although his photo from Saigon endured as his most powerful image, Adams was more proud of a photo of boat people fleeing postwar Vietnam that helped spur Congress and the Carter White House to admit 200,000 Vietnamese refugees to the United States.

In 1988, he founded the Eddie Adams Workshop "Barnstorm," an annual gathering at his farm near Jeffersonville, N.Y., where established professionals and promising newcomers could take part in photo shoots, lectures and instructional clinics. More than 100 teachers and 100 students attend the event each October.

Stuart, the director of the Workshop for several years, said its programs would continue.

Adams is survived by his wife of 15 years, Alyssa, and a son, August; three children by a previous marriage, Susan Ann Sinclair and Edward Adams II, both of Atlanta, and Amy Marie Adams, of New Jersey; his 100-year-old mother, Adelaide Adams, and four sisters.

  • US running short of reserve troops: report.

    09/16/2004 3:23:46 AM PDT · 1 of 8
In commenting on the report, the Department of Defence (DOD) says it plans to keep its current approach.

"Under DOD's current implementation of the authority, reserve component members can be involuntarily mobilised more than once, but involuntary mobilisations are limited to a cumulative total of 24 months," the report said.

"If DOD's implementation of the partial mobilisation authority restricts the cumulative time that reserve component forces can be mobilised, then it is possible that DOD will run out of forces."

The guard and reserve are crucial to the US war effort because they include specialised units such as military police, intelligence and civil affairs that are in high demand but in short supply in the active duty force.

The Pentagon also has turned to the guard and reserve to ease the strain on active duty infantry divisions that have had to deploy repeatedly to Iraq.

More than 47,600 members of the guard and reserve were serving in Iraq as of last month, about a third of the 140,000-member US force currently deployed.

When those deployed in Afghanistan and rear areas are added, the total is in excess of 66,000, according to Pentagon figures.

Since September 11, 2003, more than 335,000 guard and reserves have been involuntarily mobilised for active duty - 234,000 from the army alone.

Relax and feel grateful that you had this learning experience - you know yourself and your needs and limitations better than quasi religious psychobabbelers do ! You were uncomfortable for more reasons than your tiredness. Take the time now, not later, to stop and think about the entire process...begin with looking at the group that maneuvered you into this situation, then look at the entire episode, event by event up your posting this disturbance of your life-energy.

You will find the underlying uneasiness was caused by the situational vibration...enjoy your mind...find solace in the fact that your body had more of a reaction than your brain did...meditation is an individual process not a group-grope. Touchy-feelie groping and high-pressure controlled time events are meant to mold you into the grope game. Active group-gropers are very ill...distance yourself from them and their pantheon of members and most definitely do not donate any of your cash to further their perversion...perhaps going to another diocese for celebration of the Mass would help.

I serve with the memory of those who have gone before me: Roger's Rangers, Francis Marion, Mosby's Rangers, the first Special Service Forces and Ranger Battalions of World War II, the Airborne Ranger Companies of Korea. I pledge to uphold the honor and integrity of all I am - in all I do.

I am a professional soldier. I will teach and fight wherever my nation requires. I will strive always, to excel in every art and artifice of war. I know that I will be called upon to perform tasks in isolation, far from familiar faces and voices, with the help and guidance of my God.

I will keep my mind and body clean, alert and strong, for this is my debt to those who depend upon me. I will not fail those with whom I serve. I will not bring shame upon myself or the forces. I will maintain myself, my arms, and my equipment in an immaculate state as befits a Special Forces soldier.

I will never surrender though I be the last. If I am taken, I pray that I may have the strength to spit upon my enemy. My goal is to succeed in any mission - and live to succeed again.

I am a member of my nation's chosen soldiery. God grant that I may not be found wanting, that I will not fail this sacred trust.

WOW In my time I've seen worse events in every, yes, every city in the USA wherein I have lived. Right on the street, in open view of any and all passersby... The range of responses and the psychological failure of those responders are indicative of what has failed societally in the USA. You people really need to stop your blathering, backup, and reread what you are posting. As a traveled individual, courtesy of the American Taxpayers, these "Shameful" "Shocking" [ibid] images do not shame nor shock me at all. This is American Kids, doing their thing with panache, and some diversity {MTV/Jerry/Sally/Ricky/GMA/etcetera...} as they were trained in their youth by the system to do. These soldiers went as far as they could under the system. They should be promoted and praised, not vilified. After-all aren't they your children? What the majority of you fail to understand, sadly, is the fact that this is perfect PsyOps. What really needs to be done is also very plain. Relieve the Secretary of Defense immediately. Place the SecDef under arrest. { & all the rats he runs} Arrest the entire command forthwith. Arrest the 'interrogators' forthwith. Arrest the 'Mil-Intel/CIA' individuals involved forthwith. Return the above criminals to Ft. L. Let the UCMJ and the Presidential Courts Martial resolve this issue. [yes there can be a PCM] ... These fine xamplez of 'Murkan-Hood' are your progeny. This "WAR" is not really an honest war, it really is PIRACY on an International scale. OIL/DRUGS/POWER are the root of these terrible times. The USA has been defrauded by the last Administration and the present Administration of the Office of the President of the United States of America The Clinton Administration was about MONEY from CHINA and SEX The Bush Administration is about OIL and DRUGS The sooner ya'll wake up and get to the polls and quitcher belly achin the better off we'll all be. I regularly travel over the Smoky Mountain Range.

When I have time, or make time, the Blue Ridge Parkway is
a detour of choice during daylight hours. True some of the Scenic Overlooks are overgrown. I have inquired about that to Rangers on the Blue Ridge Parkway - NO BUDGET LINE ITEM

Since moving to North Carolina in '75, I have watched the
death of the ridge cover. The reforestation of the region
was done by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps ). Since that major East Coast effort there has been VERY LITTLE reforestation that I have seen,

    perhaps I'm too myopic.

This article started a fair discussion, and brought forth
some interesting views about the region and the politics thereof...none of the hurt feelings/disgruntled attitudes,
nor the memories of the Reservoir displaced and isolated
    Folk, change the FACT that POLLUTION is killing EARTH, not just the forests. { Depleted Uranium anyone ? }

Not only do we make WAR on each other, we make WAR on the
environment with a vengeance that, I'm sure, comes close to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

"This is the first health assessment of the park, and it's not good," Kiernan said. "It's worrisome."

There had been no previous systemic, park-wide scientific study to provide a benchmark for future recommendations for the Smokies before Wednesday's report, Kiernan said. The public was forced to rely on conflicting findings of various groups, scientists and organizations when trying to evaluate the park's ecosystem, he said.

Raw data for the report was combined from the National Park Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and various state agencies to gather all data that is published or unpublished on parks, Kiernan said.

"This has significant scientific credibility in the United States and is gaining it worldwide," he said. Several areas of concern were noted in the report on the Smokies. Among them are:

? Ground level ozone and acid rain "threaten the health of park visitors, staff, vegetation, soils and streams."

? Air pollution has diminished visibility from an average of 113 miles from prime viewing locations to an average of 25 miles.

? The park has an annual budget shortfall of more than $11 million, and needs another 108 new full-time positions to adequately protect resources.

? Nonnative pests and diseases are killing off Fraser firs, hemlocks, dogwoods, butternuts and beech trees.

Much of the air pollution in the Smokies is from the burning of fossil fuels, particularly those used in power plants, factories and automobiles, officials said.

Conservation association program analyst Jill Stephens and Sandy McLaughlin, a researcher at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee, described the scope of the park's air-pollution problem Wednesday while at the Twin Creeks research station.

At the research station, one of three in the Smokies and Oak Ridge, 35 trees are constantly monitored by devices that check their growth, sap flow and other vital signs every half-hour, they said.

While pollutants affect vegetation throughout the park, trees that grow at higher elevations - such as spruce and firs trees - are hit especially hard, Stephens said. Also, rainfall is up to 10 times as acidic as normal precipitation in the park and fog is often 100 times more acidic, McLaughlin said.

Jim Renfro, a Park Service air-resource specialist, said that some species of plants are showing "visible leaf damage" from the pollution, while others aren't growing as well. He also noted that during the past 15 years the park has had more than 300 "bad-air days," meaning ozone levels were high enough to threaten public health.

"That's way too many," he said. "There shouldn't be any in a national park."

Experts expect the Smokies to be designated a "non-attainment" area Thursday when the EPA releases its list of areas that haven't met federal clean-air standards meant to protect public health.

Officials of the parks conservation group also are opposed to the proposed North Shore Road project, also known as the "Road to Nowhere," in Swain County, N.C. The road was started in the early 1960s, but work ended because of cost and environmental problems.

The issue appeared again in 2000 when North Carolina Rep. Charles Taylor and Sen. Jesse Helms tacked a new $16 million appropriation for the road onto a transportation bill. The conservation group contends completing the road would be costly and also inflict serious environmental damage to the park.

    Home Sci Lab Experiment;

    eq/matl list;

    empty paint can

several colors of the same kind of latex, oil base, DO NOT USE VOLITILE LACQUERS

    electric single cup immersion heater

paint thinner appropriate for the type of paint

Spread newspaper of floor or table to protect the surface and make cleanup easy.

Take the old empty paint can and several different
colors of the same kind of paint...and an imersion heater
[cheap coffee/tea heating coil - either 12 Vdc or 120 Vac]

pour in some light colored paint to the depth of 2"

carefully add in a linear manner 1 or 2 darker colors
    in very thin lines

insert pre warmed [disconnected] heater into the mixture,
when the paint begins to move, remove the heater coil

compare the visual results to the observable weather patterns.

    {Neutrino...The answer to your question is, absolutely.}

When satisfied that adding energy to a stable system (eg. the paint mixture) does in fact effect the stability
of a system (eg. adding HEAT to the paint mixture),
please clean the equipment used in an appropriate manner
and DO NOT pour the mixed paint into the Storm Water
System. Dispose of the paint properly please.

    I live in Charlotte NC

We have been sprayed continously since last year on a daily basis...

The only let up is when a rep of the current administration is in town.

One disturbing observation is the 'Bullseye' patterns.

Call the Airport...ask what is happening...get the reply,
those are just contrails from normal air traffic, or, there is absolutely no spraying happening.

I wonder how those Flight Crews can accept what they are doing to their own country, especially the BIOLOGICAL
SPRAY EVENTS...minions of SATAN... there can be no other rational explaination
