There are many reasons for #3, #4, and #5, the majority of which are not reflections of personal deficiencies in individual people. There are also a great many societal and especially, socioeconomic pressures that have resulted in the final three. To put it bluntly: the socioeconomic climate (especially the eroding of the traditional middle class), has done far more damage to families and relationships than almost anything else.

From 2005 onwards, Israeli Apartheid Week has hijacked (pun intended), and absolutely DOMINATED the discourse on college campuses, as well as many high schools. Most of the young people have been exposed to a steady diet of trendy Anti-Semitism and pro-Jihadi propaganda since then.

Even before ‘05, the groundwork was already laid with the ‘documentaries’ ‘Loose Change’ and ‘Zeitgeist’.

Lions and Sheep ©2014 by Trevor Patrick

    Alexander the Great
    was quoted as saying:
that an army of sheep led by a single lion,
even if that lion be scrawny and damned-

    is far more dangerous
    than an army of lions
    commanded by a sheep,
even if it be the flock’s mightiest ram.

‘Cause the herd that most choose
    to blindly follow
can just as easily be led astray,

    all it takes
    is the proper bellwether,
    who knows all the right things to say;

    who deeply understands
that people don’t want to think for themselves,
    nor for the real truth,
do they ever care to seek-

    instead, it’s all about
    the spoon-fed opinion
    and manufactured, pitchfork mob outrage,
that happens to be most trendy this week.

    CHORUS:

    ‘Cause lions don’t lose sleep
    over the opinions of sheep:
    all those following the herd,
    whose slogans they constantly bleat,

and those, who’ll trade their individuality,
for the shallow acceptance they seek
    yes, lions don’t lose sleep,
    over the opinions of sheep.

    Even in the Bible,
In First Peter, five and eight
Satan’s depicted as the roaring lion,
    seeking whom he might devour

    And also in John eight
    and forty-four:
the idea of the thieving, deceiving predator,
who lusts for might and power

Yet the ancient Romans knew the truth
    when they said:
it’s better to live a single day as a lion
than a thousand as a sheep.

    Even if you’re the herd-ram
    for those thousand days,
and all the ewes are in heat.

    For a lion will understand
    that comfort is slavery,
    and freedom is never free-

    and only when he casts
    his fate to the winds
will he have a chance to be all he can be.

    SECOND CHORUS:

    ‘Cause lions don’t lose sleep
    over the opinions of sheep,
who’ll dump their principles in a heartbeat,
when the majority no longer agrees

yet who encourage you to think for yourself
just so long as you don’t think too deep
    yes, lions don’t lose sleep
    over the opinions of sheep.

And perhaps the harshest truth of all
faced by Comfort’s sons and daughters
when you choose to exist in the conformity of the herd
in the end, all sheep are slaughtered.

As a Gen Xer, I can tell you that there are other big reasons, too.

Many kids my age were latchkeys that were left to fend for themselves, and whose parents were either long-divorced, or MINO (married in name only). A lot of us lived in such screwed-up homes, that it was hard to justify the idea of putting another generation of children through that.

On top of that, there is also the factor of a ruined economy, and no more job (let alone ‘career’) security. Hence, for a lot of the young men especially, of my generational cohort, marrigeable women don’t exactly see us as a good prospect.

Likewise, with the trendy new Anti-Semitism that’s all through western society, courtesy of IAW and BDS on every college campus, no matter what the Jews do, short of surrendering to Hamas and vacating the entirety of Israel, they have already been branded as genocidal oppressors.

I used to work with a black man from Zimbabwe, who would often opine that the only thing he could fault Mugabe for was the fact that he didn’t simply kill all the white ‘invaders’ and be done with it.

When I pointed out the fact that Mugabe’s actions had turned Zimbabwe from Africa’s Breadbasket to Africa’s Basket-Case, he said: Better to starve on your own land, than live as a well-fed slave on it.

I wound up asking him the pointed question: if Zimbabwe was so wonderful a place to live, now that Brother Mugabe has put all the white colonisers in their proper place, why then did he feel the need to move to North America?

He didn’t answer it. Instead, it turned into a new tirade about how North America is yet more land ‘stolen and colonised by whites’...

The part about how Anti-Semitism starts with things like ‘poems and fairy tales’ is no surprise to me, and never has been.

Hence, I’ve tried to do my own part to rail against the new Anti-Semitism in the best way that I can, namely with my two poems: “Israeli Apartheid Kristallnacht” and “If it’s Not About the Jews”, both of which I’ve posted on this site. Unfortunately, both pieces feel like the proverbial ‘fart in a hurricane’ against the sheer, uprising force of increasingly trendy Jew-Hate, and I’ve lost many friends and colleagues, as well as having a number of family members no longer wish to speak to me due to my support of the so-called ‘Illegitimate, Apartheid State’.

What I find funniest of all is that there is some actual, real, and hard-core irony (and I mean real Irony, not the Alanis Morrisette variety), in the Professor arguing about destroying human exceptionalism. The fact of the matter is that the very act of stringing together her philosophical argument, and putting it into written form, is something that NO OTHER ANIMAL has yet shown the capability of doing. Hence, the irony is that an animal that is exceptional by definition, exercising one of the very things that makes her exceptional, is arguing that she is NOT exceptional.

I’m still not too old to remember what it was like to be at that age, and how toxic an environment that many public schools can be for kids, who have mental issues and/or are emotionally fragile. The right intervention at the right time could ALSO go a long way to preventing further tragedies.

And I’m not talking about mollycoddling. I think that the social-engineering ‘feel-good’ experiments that have been done to kids since the late sixties have done more long-term damage to them than anything else.

Sometimes all that’s REALLY needed is something as simple as finding a way to help a kid build their confidence and strength of character, so they don’t snap under the strain; not some ‘swath the kid in bubble-wrap/you are always special and always a winner’ production number.

A piece I wrote this morning:

If it’s Not About the Jews... - ©2014 by Trevor Patrick

    The keffiyeh-wearing activists all say:
    that Anti-Zionism is not Anti-Semitism,
    and that antipathy towards Israel,
is not REALLY about the Jews...

It’s about the ‘Illegitimate, Apartheid State’,
that ‘occupies’ the entirety of Palestine,
and that ancient hatreds and blood-libels,
aren’t the things that are shaping their views.

They say that their overarching care,
is for people living as prisoners in their own, stolen homeland,
and in ensuring that ‘silenced’ voices
are finally, at long last heard-

but the mounting inconsistencies in their message,
in talk as well as in deed,
    are making some folks realise,
that their actions belie their words.

Because if it’s not about the Jews,
why is Palestine such a cause-celebre,
when there’s dozens of OTHER nations,
whose rightful citizens live as slaves?

And why then is Israel called an ‘illegitimate’ entity,
even though it was recognised by the UN,
and the vast majority of the world’s nations:
    most of them in 1948?

And if it’s not about the Jews,
why do the activists insist on referring
    to Jerusalem as ‘Al Quds’,
rather than using its proper, 5,000 year-old historical name?

If it’s not about the Jews,
and it’s all about the oppressed Palestinians,
what about the ones living in camps in neighbouring nations:
    generations born on foreign soil,
but never allowed basic rights, citizenship,
or much less, a sense of place?

If it’s not about the Jews,
why is there a double standard for the Israelis,
    where protecting their safety
is called an act of genocide?

    But every attack by Palestinians,
    that succeeds in killing Israelis,
    no matter what the context,
    is ALWAYS justified?

Because if it was truly not about the Jews,
the activists would see the real truth,
that the BIGGEST victimisation of the Palestinians
    is not from Israel-

but rather from their own fanatical leadership,
who don’t want peace, but want every Jew dead,
and from all the other Arab nations
that use them as bargaining chips and pawns.

And if it’s not about the Jews,
then maybe you should ask yourself:
can you stare in the mirror, and look yourself in the eyes-
when wherever you happen to live,
    you’re standing on land
    that often YOUR ancestors
were the ones that seized and occupied?

And if it’s not about the Jews,
would you live by your own standards,
and say that when the bus you’re riding on is blown up,
    you deserved to die-

that you have no intrinsic right to protect yourself,
in the land you’ve known from birth,
    because your very citizenship
    is based upon a lie?

If it’s not about the Jews,
why then is Israel hated more
than any other so-called ‘occupying power’,
on the face of the Earth?

For example, no one’s given a shit since 1974,
    about occupied Northern Cyprus:
A so-called ‘country’ that is recognised
by no one, but the occupying Turks.

And it’s ALSO no longer trendy
    unless you’re Richard Gere,
to talk about China’s continuing occupation
    and cultural despoliation of Tibet;

because, after all, it wasn’t dirty Jew-Gold,
that financed the forced ‘liberation’ of Lhasa,
and the Tibetans don’t strap suicide bombs to their children,
or murder Chinese families in their beds.

    But the Chinese occupiers
    have single-handedly wiped-out
the centuries-old tradition of the Panchen Lama,
and will do the same to the Dalai Lama,
on the day he finally drops dead.

And if it’s not about the Jews,
why am I supposed to boycott, divest and sanction against Soda-Stream,
but I’m crazy if I do the same against other companies,
whose nations have demonstrably occupied foreign territory,
and treat the people they’ve oppressed far worse yet?

    Likewise, every African horror story,
    that captures the public attention
    for all of five minutes,
    but then disappears like smoke,
as all other stories about oppressed brown people
    so invariably do...

But Palestine has dominated the discourse,
and WILL continue to do so until Israel is destroyed,
because the plain and simple truth
is that it’s ALWAYS been about the Jews.

However, all the young, white hipster girls with their blonde dreadlocks, soy lattés, Ché Guevara t-shirts and Palestinian Keffiyehs would be hanging on every word, and blinking bovine bedroom eyes at the ‘amazingly enlightened’ Professor.

I posted my own response to this new and très-chic campus Anti-Semitism quite some time ago, specifically: “Israeli Apartheid Kristallnacht”.

I think the ONLY useful thing Israeli Apartheid Week has done has been to expose the repugnant hypocrisy of most (especially affluent white), progressives, who have been forced to hide and sublimate their deep-seated Anti-Semitism since WWII. I wonder how long it’s going to be until The Protocols of the Elders of Zion becomes a required textbook.

Sell it all to Matty Moroun.

The Argies have learned a thing or two from the Palestinians. After all, Palestine is now every hipster’s favoured cause-célèbre, and Israel (and by extension t3h j000000z), are once again the universal scapegoats, and least favourite illegitimate, ‘devil Country’ in the mould of pre-1994 South Africa.

The Argies know that in the long run, if they can keep trumpeting the mantra of ‘anti-KKKolonialiSSm’ long enough, and play on ancient anti-English hatred and resentment, they *WILL* eventually be accepted as being the aggrieved party.

Of course, the flimsy anti-colonialism “argument” is also predicated on equally flimsy supposition that Spanish and French colonisers are somehow more ‘legitimate’ than English ones.

    Tried to read it.

It all started to look like blah blah blah blah...
