SISZYD32.exe has possibly killed my FR computer. Yesterday it hit suddenly despite the anti-virus and other utilities I run to protect against such stuff. The victim computer is one I only use for FR and the sites it cites. That is the only clue I have to offer as to where it came from. I run several computers off a network and my FR computer is the only victim. This is the worst I have ever encountered and a search for it shows that it is very dangerous and it showed up only about a week ago (AFAICT). From years...

...One Obama appointee after another hold views that have little relationship to reality despite their academic resumes. Steven Chu, the new Secretary of Energy, is on record saying the coal threatens the environment. Obama’s science advisor, John Holdren, in the 1980s was predicting massive famines because of global warming. It’s one thing to be wrong. It’s another to be wrong and to hold a high level government position. Other advisors, those men and women who help set policy, are a frightening collection of dedicated socialists and totally loony environmentalists. His most recent proposed addition, Charles W. Freeman, as chairman...

  • Christmas With Louise

FUNNIEST CHRISTMAS STORY This article was submitted to a 1999 Louisville Sentinel contest to find out who had the wildest Christmas dinner. The following won first prize. Christmas with Louise As a joke, my brother used to hang a pair of panty hose over his fireplace before Christmas. He said all he wanted was for Santa to fill them. What they say about Santa checking the list twice must be true because every Christmas morning, although Jay's kids' stockings were overflowing, his poor pantyhose hung sadly empty. One year I decided to make his dream come true. I put...

Rubber ducks ending ocean voyage Updated 12 July 2003, 13.28 Thousands of rubber ducks are expected to wash up on the American coast - after more than 10 years at sea. The ducks fell overboard from a container ship off the Alaskan coast during a storm in 1992. Then the ducks - along with lots of other plastic frogs and turtles - set off on a long journey through three oceans. Iceland to Hawaii It's thought they were trapped by slow moving ice for several years - it took them until 2000 to reach Iceland. Fact File What else...

World News 10/28/2002 Gas Russians Used Was Opium Derivative, U.S. Officials Say Printable version  WASHINGTON -- The mysterious gas Russian forces pumped into a theater to end a hostage crisis was an opiate -- a chemical related to morphine, Pentagon officials said Monday. The Bush administration, meanwhile, refused to criticize Russian special forces for using the gas, which killed 116 of the hostages as well as the hostage takers. "The president abhors the loss of life, but he understands that it is the terrorists" who are responsible for the tragedy, Bush spokesman Ari Fleischer said Monday as the president traveled to...

A crowd of 50 in Keithville, Louisiana, spent most of the night of 6 February 1991 trying to rescue a black bear caught 60 feet up a pine tree. A vet fired tranquillizer darts, and nets were strung to catch it. Several wildlife refuges were alerted to receive the animal. The tree was felled the next morning and a dart-riddled black plastic trash bag was recovered. Fall, 1997, the police dispatcher called for fire rescue and the nearest police cruiser for a dog tied to a dog house in a backyard that was flooding. Ensuing reports said that water was...
