Cao a No per NRO

Noting that the Senate bill is "much weaker than the version we passed through the House" in regard to abortion, Cao said he intended to vote against it. Cao, appearing on "WDSU News at 4," said he could still vote "yes" on a health care reform package that was more restrictive on abortions. He said his office has been flooded with calls and visits from those on both sides of the health care issue."We have people knocking at our doors, we have groups coming in, lobbying," he said. "It comes down to me and my own conscience and that's what I...

On Fox and Friends Tomorrow: Freeper help with Texas Textbooks?

All: I'm scheduled to appear on three separate Fox shows tomorrow and Tues., including Fox and Friends twice about the upcoming Texas curriculum controversy. I think I have a handle on it, but I'd especially like Texas Freepers to weigh in, especially with any very recent developments I should know about. Is there still a move to make all U.S. history instruction start at 1877, or has that been killed? Are they still seeking to remove Christmas to make room for a Hindu holiday?

Beck Sends Freeper LS to #1 on Amazon

Truly amazing: the power of Glenn Beck. He mentioned A Patriot's History of the U.S. today on his radio show, then again on the TV show, and lo and behold, #1. Big stuff happening. Can't tell all yet, but watch our web pages, www.patriotshistoryusa.com and www.rockinthewall.com. Oh, and if anyone knows how to do a screen saver, I'd like to bronze this one.

The Wheels are Coming Off!

Folks, it’s great to be alive. I have to fess up: back here in August I predicted that health care was a done deal, and that all that remained was a “dance” to see which Dems would get to opt out for their own reelection purposes. Well, in a matter of a month, a historic election in Massachusetts and the weak knees of several Dems in both the House and Senate make it appear that we may be on the verge of killing socialized medicine in America. It’s not “in the books” yet—don’t celebrate—but I’ll be all too happy to...

Thanks for all your comments: PHUSA at #19 (and climbing?)

Thanks to all for your comments about the Glenn Beck show. I couldn't respond to every single person, but I read them all and am honored that you watched. A Patriot's History of the United States was #19 on Amazon last I looked, second only to Zinn. It perhaps is fitting that he passed away this week, and maybe this means a changing of the guard.

Celebrate . . . But Beware! The Dems have One More Offensive Left!

There is a lot of well-earned celebration going on here, and no doubt a Republican (let alone a Republican who has campaigned against health care) winning the MA seat---the first since 1972---is a stunner. But beware: we haven't "won" anything yet. I do think the Dems are too smart to hold up Brown's nomination. That ain't the problem: they are going to try to pass health care now with 51 votes, something that I think was sealed with Voinovich's meeting the other day with Obama over the "budget," where Voino insisted he wouldn't vote for health care. So apparently Obama...

Don't Expect the Supreme Court to Save You

Folks, I hate to be a perpetual gloomster here, but anyone putting his faith in a Supreme Court reversal of any of this health non-care monstrosity has another think coming. First, the USSC seldom rules in favor of constitutionally limited government. Even in the Affirmative Action slapdown of the University of Michigan several years ago, the Court said in essence, “what you’re doing is wrong the way you’re doing it, but try other methods to reach racial balance.” In the notorious Kelo case, the Court affirmed the right of a local government to take land from one person and give...

The "Heroic" Blue Dog Myth

A new myth has arisen in the wake of last night's vote that a handful of "blue dog" Democrats from red districts were really in a position to stop Obamacare. More than TWO MONTHS ago, I wrote a piece here called "What if they don't care?" and reposted here as "Grim Thought" (http://www.patriotshistoryusa.com/blog/grim-thought/) Sadly, I was right. They didn't care. The entire choreography from August until last night was based on two tactical approaches: 1) "soften" the language just enough to get it by the public (NOT some "blue dogs") so that it did not appear as horrible as it...

Political newcomer Leitzell pulls off upset of two-term incumbent McLin (Dayton's Dem Mayor Loses)

Challenger Gary Leitzell defeated incumbent Mayor Rhine McLin on Tuesday in the race for Dayton’s next mayor. According to final, unofficial totals from the Montgomery County Board of Elections, Leitzell had 51.5 percent of the votes to 48.5 percent for McLin, a Democrat. That amounted to 14,923 votes for Leitzell and 14,045 for McLin.

Freeper Help Requested: Rock and Roll Film

Freepers: we are in the pre-production phase of a documentary film about rock music and its role in undermining communism and helping to bring down the Berlin Wall.
OH Supreme Court rules in John Husted's favor

At last night's central committee meeting, John Husted announced that the OH Supreme Court, by a 7-0 vote, had declared his residency in Kettering valid and legal, ending all Dem attempts to keep him from running for SoS. He also said he had been approached by high-level Dems with a deal to let him run unopposed for Treasurer, but of course the goal is to get Jennifer Brunner out.

Freeper Question on Monetizing the Debt

Freepers I have a question that I can't seem to hear any "talking head" of any political persuasion ask: First, are we monetizing the debt in large amounts? Second, if the answer is yes, then where is the money going and why do we have no inflation? We do not have rapidly growing production and employment, so we cannot have an equality of "dollars and goods." Therefore if we have "too many goods chasing too few dollars," where is the (what should be dramatic) price increases? Further, some of the info I've seen says that Americans are NOT taking on...

The Maoist Moment in Washington

It's pretty clear we've arrived at a Maoist Moment in our history. A month or so ago, I asked in a column here, "What if They Don't Care?" The gist was that either a) Obama had promised "blue dogs" or Dems in tough districts that he would send in ACORN and ensure their re-election if they voted for "health non-care" (HNC) or b) would give them admin jobs if they lost. If they could just build the "doomsday machine," sure they might lose their seat in 2010 . . . but would have it back in 2012 and probably never...

What if They Don't Care?

A couple of caveats: First, this is not meant to discourage. I spoke at one Tea Party, and I attended both; I contribute; I have worked for many campaigns in the last eight years; and I will continue speaking, writing, voting, and agitating to the end. But forewarned is forearmed. Second, there are some realities: the national media will not ever, ever tell the truth about citizen protests, town meetings, or conservative gatherings. Get over it.That said, consider this possibility---that Obama and the Dem leadership don't care how many Americans oppose this health care bill, even if they deeply oppose...
