I need to create a rather long, involved punch list for a volunteer event. I need to be able to add, move, and remove tasks. I need to be able to assign or re-assign tasks to individuals. Any suggestions on a simple software package for the not-so-computer-illiterate person ?
  • Massachusetts SWAT teams claim they’re private corporations, immune from open records laws

As it turns out, a number of SWAT teams in the Bay State are operated by what are called law enforcement councils, or LECs. These LECs are funded by several police agencies in a given geographic area and overseen by an executive board, which is usually made up of police chiefs from member police departments -------------- Some of these LECs have also apparently incorporated as 501(c)(3) organizations. And it’s here that we run into problems. According to the ACLU, the LECs are claiming that the 501(c)(3) status means that they’re private corporations, not government agencies.
  • Arlington National Cemetery lacks funds to hit wreath-laying goal

WASHINGTON — The number of wreaths that can be laid on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery might be limited this year because donors who have paid the costs are now splitting their donations to help the tradition spread to other veterans cemeteries across the nation. That has left the nonprofit Wreaths Across America short about $525,000 — meaning it can afford just 100,000 wreaths, or 35,000 fewer than it planned to lay Dec. 14 against Arlington Cemetery’s stark white gravestones.

A friend tells me he was watching part of an episode of 'Law and Order' last evening. Does not remember which one of the many L&E shows. I no longer watch conventional television, so I need help finding this. The plot involves two detectives stubling upon prisoners held secretly in a state prison. Detectives found out because of the differance between official head count and number of meals served. My friend says the great quote from the show; "Ever read the Patriot Act ?" "I read the original-1984." Help me find this episode.
