His slogan, Make America Great Again, was so in-your-face that there was no mistaking its meaning. It was nationalist and populist, and the fact that those ideas offended the tender sensibilities of the political and media elite was a bonus. Trump’s no-bulls–t approach struck a deep chord in the hearts of Americans who felt abandoned by both political parties and their government.

It’s bulls**t. President-elect Donald Trump didn’t pay prostitutes to urinate on his bed in the presidential suite at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Moscow, three years ago. Neither did Trump do this to deliberately defile a bed that had been used by Barack and Michelle Obama. And nor did Vladimir Putin secretly videotape the whole thing to use as blackmail against Trump at a later date. It’s all complete baloney.

GOP presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) was asked Friday on NBC Sports Radio’s “Dan Patrick Show” if the Monday after the NFL’s Super Bowl should be a holiday. “It should be, there’s no productivity whatsoever,” Kasich responded. “I’m going to take that under consideration. Maybe I could get that done in the first 100 days.”

The first family, Michelle Obama fresh from her annual Aspen ski vacation with her daughters, and President Obama back from a weekend of golf in sunny Palm Springs, Calif., have spent tens of millions in tax dollars to vacation, and they still have two more years to go, according to an accounting of their trips. As the first lady readies for a trip to Japan and Cambodia this month, Secrets calculated that the first family has racked up 38 holidays, working vacations, and fun trips like a date night in New York. They are on par to take at least...

A vote is expected this evening in the state House of Representatives on legislation that would stop the state from issuing drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. It's a political dispute that has been simmering and occasionally boiling over for a half-dozen years. Susana Martinez made this a key issue in her first campaign for governor back in 2010, urging state lawmakers to repeal the state law allowing the licenses. Tonight it looks like she will finally have the votes to move the license legislation through the House. Republicans are now the majority party there, and they expect to pick up...

An Albuquerque man has been ordered to pay nearly $180,000 in restitution for the theft of government funds. Prosecutors say 57-year-old Scott Till was sentenced Tuesday to two years of probation in the case. Till pleaded guilty last October to taking money in November 2011 from the Department of Veterans Affairs that he wasn't entitled to receive. Prosecutors say Till isn't a veteran. They say he kept open a bank account into which the Department of Veterans Affairs was depositing money and he maintained sole access to the funds. Till was ordered to pay $179,491 in restitution to the VA.

Opponents say New Mexico has become a haven for those seeking to fraudulently obtain driver's licenses. "These fraud operations involve the trafficking of humans to our state for the purpose of committing crimes; and with no intention to live here, they snatch up our license to take elsewhere, to places unknown and for purposes unknown," said Mike Lonergan, spokesman for Republican Gov. Susana Martinez. Martinez, the nation's only Latina governor and a rising figure in the Republican Party, has been pushing to repeal the driver's license law since she was first elected in 2010. The governor and others have said...

On Wednesday night, NBC News anchor Brian Williams apologized to the American people for lying for well over a decade about a heart-stopping war story starring himself. Williams claimed for years that he had ridden a Chinook hit by an Iraqi RPG. Last night, Williams stated, “I want to apologize. I said I was traveling in an aircraft that was hit by RPG fire. I was instead in a following aircraft.” He then added, “We all landed after the ground-fire incident and spent two harrowing nights in a sandstorm in the Iraqi desert.” Sadly, Williams’ apology is chock full of...

Back when we first covered the release of the last American prisoners held by North Korea, questions were already making the rounds about Matthew Miller. He had allegedly gone to North Korea with the intention of defecting, had reportedly destroyed his passport and was ready to abandon the nation of his birth. Going by an interview in the Guardian this week, it looks like those reports were not exaggerated. For most people visiting North Korea, the prospect of being arrested during their trip is a source of some concern. But for 25-year old Californian Matthew Miller, it’s exactly what he...

On Friday, Sept. 25, 2014, my uncle Thomas Eric Duncan went to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. He had a high fever and stomach pains. He told the nurse he had recently been in Liberia. But he was a man of color with no health insurance and no means to pay for treatment, so within hours, he was released with some antibiotics and Tylenol. Two days later, he returned to the hospital in an ambulance. Two days after that, he was finally diagnosed with Ebola. Eight days later, he died alone in a hospital room. Now, Dallas suffers. Our country...

Just when Bill Richardson appeared to be in the clear on corruption charges in New Mexico, new allegations of pay-for-play during his administration may envelop the former Governor again. A grand jury indicted a sitting district judge on charges of corruption for buying his appointment from Richardson in 2006, and a whistleblowing judge believes the rot went all the way to the top: Third Judicial District Judge Mike Murphy allegedly said he gave $4,000 to get appointed to the bench by then-Gov. Bill Richardson in 2006, and told several people that other judicial appointees had to give money as well....
