I would like to see a brokered convention because I think the ruling class would be happy to elect any of the guys currently running. Any of them. I opt for none of the above. I had a nice rant on the Scarborough thread on that subject :-)
Note to Pubbie delegates: Think of yourselves on a ship of state. In this case, the Titanic, which is steaming straight on into the biggest financial iceberg the world has ever seen. Your party bosses know good and well what's about to happen, while you small fry in steerage are being keptnin blissful ignorance. Now you delegates can stand there with your thumbs up your butts, tugging your forelocks with your free hands while your betters make for the lifeboats. Or you can steel your spines, think outside the box, and screw the ruling class to the wall at convention time by banding together and coming up with a conservative nominee. There's time before the convention. Take a deep breath and git-r-done.
Here’s a thought: What if delegates channel their inner founding father, go rogue, and pick someone the party ain’t shoving down their throats? I know most delegates are probably party apparatchiks and loyalists, but excrement flows down hill, and being a tiny cog on a big wheel won’t save them from the impending disaster.
I'm really not trying to be a pain in the tuchus, but I still say it's a mini-series :-)
Don't get me wrong; I think it's great quality TV. But long gaps between short “seasons”, not to mention a lack of commitment to further shows, exponentially increase the likelihood I'll blow it off next time around. I've gotten sucked in and then burned too often by network programmers.
