  • McCain holds town hall meeting at Chick-Fil-A headquarters (re-states Amnesty pledge)

You're missing my point. Yes, immigration is a national issue and all of the lives taken by illegals count no matter what the discourse is. The point was that the first step is to close the borders down to the liking of the border state governors. In other words, let the governors take over the right and ability to shut the borders away from the Federal Government. It is a job that is better done by the state and its National Guard and the land owners within those states. Someone in Michigan does not need to be involved in how Arizona shuts its border. Give the power to those states to do what is necessary and then we can begin talking about what to do with the illegals already on soil and those workers that would like to come over legally.

Quit ready into the statement! He said that it is first, a border state issue. The issue of shutting the border is first and foremost and has only to do with border states. Then it is an issue of a guest worker program. States like WA, CO, MI and anywhere else they need guest workers are now included in the discussion.

What exactly do you have a problem with this specific position as it is stated in these sentences? I'll give you he has been a little left of where I'd like to see him on immigration but these two comments about securing our border and having a legitimate guest worker program are dead on truths.

Here to stay? No doubt about that. Won? No way. Maybe in your neck of the woods but as long as there is a Constitution that allows free speech, the right to assemble and an election cycle that has an acceptable level of integrity (notice I’m giving you a little here) then the cause of Conservatism will always be alive. The issue at hand is that there can not be just Conservatism or just Liberalism. They must always oppose each other and must always keep a checks and balance against one another in place, otherwise, you have an extremist regime where the “opposition” is suppressed, oppressed or even eliminated. We’ll be just fine, at least according to Hillary...:-)

I wouldn’t bet your life on that one. Most of my friends have at least 2 shotguns (12 and 20 gauge), 2-3 rifles (22-250, 243 and 7MM, 30-06, 308, etc) for small and big game, 2-3 pistols including 9mm, 40 caliber and 44 magnum. Every one of which will put a big hole in you. Not to mention the 50 calibre muzzle loader for the coyotes.

    Montana4Jesus to chiya
Hi Chiya. It is legal and is really just a communication gap. When you ordered the payoff that triggered their system to expect a payoff in h=full. When they got your payment they saw that it would not be enough to cover the payoff and they returned the money. It would have been illegal if they had kept it. It is fairly common with title company errors in refinances and requires us (lenders) to go back and re-adjust the HUDs, often to the customers dismay unfortunately. What you want to do is use your coupon for the next payment you make and mark down the overage as a Payment to Principle. Do be careful though that you are not triggering a prepayment penalty. If you have one it may say that you can not pay down more that 20% of the current balance in any 12 month period. Even though you are not paying it all off, if you have one of these PPP you might trigger it. You can also call Countrywide and they may re-amortize your mortgage payment on the remaining $6000 so that you are not still paying the old mortgage payment but a much smaller payment based on the new principle balance and the old terms. Good luck.

I think that the problem is that no matter what they do there is going to be a Islamic state there. They face a similar issue as the Israelis. Either give them their own state or let them to continue to populate and push their way into the political folds of the existing nation and loose thereby loosing their own sovereignty. For example we don’t have to go any farther than Spain, France and soon Britain. It is a paradox that has very few win scenarios.

“This [Federal Reserve Act] establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President [Wilson} signs this bill, the invisible government of the monetary power will be legalized....the worst legislative crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency bill.”
    - Charles A. Lindbergh, Sr. , 1913

“The [Federal Reserve Act] as it stands seems to me to open the way to a vast inflation of the currency... I do not like to think that any law can be passed that will make it possible to submerge the gold standard in a flood of irredeemable paper currency.”
    - Henry Cabot Lodge Sr., 1913

“The few who understand the system, will either be so interested from it’s profits or so dependant on it’s favors, that there will be no opposition from that class.”
    - Rothschild Brothers of London, 1863

“We have, in this country, one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board. This evil institution has impoverished the people of the United States and has practically bankrupted our government. It has done this through the corrupt practices of the moneyed vultures who control it.”
    - Congressman Louis T. McFadden in 1932 (Rep. Pa)

“Some people think the Federal Reserve Banks are the United States government’s institutions.
They are not government institutions. They are private credit monopolies which prey upon the people
of the United States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign swindlers” — Congressional
Record 12595-12603 — Louis T. McFadden, Chairman of the Committee on Banking and
    Currency (12 years) June 10, 1932

“A great industrial nation is controlled by it’s system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the world—no longer a government of free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of small groups of dominant men.” —President Woodrow Wilson

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The
issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to
whom it properly belongs.”—Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President.

“If Congress has the right [it doesn’t] to issue paper money [currency], it was given to them to be
used by...[the government] and not to be delegated to individuals or corporations” — President
Andrew Jackson, Vetoed Bank Bill of 1836

“History records that the money changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit, and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling money and it’s issuance”. — James Madison

“Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits”.- SIR JOSIAH STAMP, (President of the Bank of England in the 1920’s, the second richest man in Britain)

It is a terrible situation when the Government, to insure the National Wealth, must go in debt and submit to ruinous interest charges at the hands of men who control the fictitious value of gold. Interest is the invention of Satan”. - THOMAS A. EDISON

“By this means government may secretly and unobserved, confiscate the wealth of the people,
and not one man in a million will detect the theft.”—John Maynard Keynes (the father of ‘Keynesian Economics’ which our nation now endures) in his book “THE ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES
    OF THE PEACE” (1920).

“Capital must protect itself in every way...Debts must be collected and loans and mortgages
foreclosed as soon as possible. When through a process of law the common people have lost their
homes, they will be more tractable and more easily governed by the strong arm of the law applied
by the central power of leading financiers. People without homes will not quarrel with their leaders.
This is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of capitalism to
govern the world. By dividing the people we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over
questions of no importance to us except as teachers of the common herd.”—

I can only assume you are being satirical. I hope that no one believes that loosing that 10% of the population would have a negative effect on our economy. They didn’t spend that money, they shipped it back to Mexico. What moneys they did spend stayed within their own micro communities, most of it cash and never taxed. Not to mention the gajillions of dollars that the local hospitals shell out every year because these people used our emergency rooms as a free health clinic. Prop 200 is achieving the results it was supposed to. Hopefully those states smart enough to follow suit will hurry it up.

I don’t think that these people understand what you and I see here. If they’d take just a few minutes and listen to what she is trying to say. Neither of these two candidates are good for the Republican Party. If you have to take one over the other, a vote for Hillary preserves the Republican party for the next cycle. A vote for McCain will lead the Republican party down a path of identity destruction. I think that is what SHE (not I) is trying to say. I personally don’t want to vote for either of them. So, there is the quandary. Vote for McCain who is a sheep in wolves clothing and risk the loss of the Republican ideals? Vote for Hillary and tough it out another 4 years? Or vote my conscience if the right third party candidate, whoever that may be, and usher Hillary in anyway? What’s a Republican to do?

It is actually a combination of all of the above. You can also add in there builders, municipalities that allowed building to go on unchecked and you can throw in real estate speculators. The fact is that the entire industry is culpable and no one entity is to blame. Each one was just reacting to supply and demand curve. Demand from every party involved that supplied each other the fuel to the fire. You may not realize this and, again, understand your facts. In the prime of our industry, default rates where no more than 2-3% of the total volume of mortgage. In the worst of last year, we saw those rates go up to around 10% with some lenders as high as 16% (New Century). Another way to look at that is that 90% of the loans that were made in 2006 which was the worst vintage, paid as agreed. Those numbers are already beginning to return to normal. There will be more losses to come but they will be a result of unforeseen job losses and not those evil lenders.

We made literally thousands of loans to people with scores over 700 and who where making well over $150,000. You don’t have to “believe” anything. Just get your facts straight.

I think that people believe that we where handing out mortgages like candy. We used to bonus our sales people if they could get at least 50% of their full package loan submissions to fund. They would sift through 10 loans to get 1 to hand in. You do the math. 50% of 1 out of every 10 loans that where submitted to us actually funded. They did go thorough rigorous underwriting of Income, Credit and Equity. If it was stated, we utilized several different web sites such as salary.com to make sure that the income they stated was “reasonable.” Otherwise, it was W-2s and Paystubs or bank statements. Appraisals where second checked against automated valuation models that on hundreds of occasions, reduced the appraised value from where the “third party” appraiser set the mark. Credit reports were looked at line by line. Our average FICO score was 660 and out average LTV was 86%. 95% of our clients were middle class Americans just like you and me. I will never defend our industry as one that didn’t stretch the limits a little too far but we filled an insatiable demand from the hedge funds and other asset backed securities investors that where setting the parameters for us.

Anyone who believes this is a complete moron. I was involved in the sales division of one of the largest sub prime lenders in the United States and ran the Western US. The company is still in business and is now owned by a very large investment bank. I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that we targeted no one. We called on every mortgage broker in the Western US without regard to race, color, religion, etc. Those brokers wrote applications for any and everyone that answered their advertising. We made loans to every walk of life from the super rich to the middle class. I will not disagree with anyone who would say that we made stated income loans to people who most likely could not afford the loans, but guess what? On a national level, those stated income loans where less than 20% of our business. In places like Idaho and Washington, it was less than 10%. In places like Nevada and California, it was more like 40%. Those of you who want to demonize the sub prime industry, you have some level of legitimacy for some of the loans that were made, however, for anyone to claim that we TARGETED minorities and poor are flat our ignorant.

I don’t see anything in this list that would alienate another Republican candidate if they questioned these points, why are they not bringing these points out? Some could say that Thomspon is but his voice is about as loud as a mouse. No one hears him because he is hidden. If the Dems will step up and bury him with this the Republicans can not stand by and watch SILENTLY while Huck smoke screens everyone. Pardon me for my rant but I am a little frustrated that we don’t really have any legitimate choices on the Republican side of the ticket. At least anyone who is serious about running.

“Anyone who does NOT believe that the MSM/DNC wants Mike Huckabee to win the Republican nomination, so that they can utterly destroy him in the general, is deluding themselves.”

I keep hearing this statement but I have yet to hear why it is that everyone thinks that the Dems will destroy him once through the Primaries. What do they have on him that the other Repubs don’t have? Or are you just quoting the DNC who made a comment very early on like it was some kind of warning. Please tell me what the Dems would do differently than his current opponents to “utterly destroy him.” fyi, I am an Evangelical Christian and I DO NOT support the Huckster. Fred got my vote on an early AZ ballot.

I see. I did not know that. I apologize for my ignorance on that if I offended anyone. Is there a written account of this that they take this from?

That’s Bozeman winters in the 1980s. Ir wasn’t unusual to see 20 to 40 below zero and 3 feet of snow.

I’m with you on that. Although, I thought that I had heard one time that the Shroud was a negative that they thought was caused by very bright light and that there was no pigment. Not sure about all of that but the image in the shroud definitely shows a man that took a beating. It has always fascinated me. The one thing that I must say though is that the picture of my Jesus is not one of a brow beaten man hanging on a tree. It is of a Savior sitting at the right hand of His Father reigning as King!

What was horrible about it was that we had to open the windows in the middle of the winter because the smell was so strong. Bozeman winters in the 80s where brutal.

Amen. Christ and Him Crusified. That’s what I try and stay close to. However, to your point. I really like what John Eldridge writes about God’s creation of man, in His image, both male and female, he created man in His image. God does have both a masculine and feminine nature to his image and it is found in the depths of the heart of a man and a woman. A warrior and a lover?

I don’t know? I was not aware that there was a belief that Mary had not died. Is there a reference that she ascended prior to a physical death? I know that there where two instances of that in the Old Testament but I’ve never heard of that in reference to Mary. Is that what you are implying?
