Authorities on Wednesday night continued to investigate a Redlands home tied to Syed Farook, a suspect identified in connection with the mass shootings that killed at least 14 people and injured at least 17 people at a social services center in San Bernardino on Wednesday morning. A few hours after the mass shooting, authorities followed a tip to the home on Center Street in Redlands. As officers approached, the suspects fled in a dark SUV. A police pursuit ensued, ending back in San Bernardino, where a gunbattle broke out.

A bit of good news to share: A reliable source has informed me that Father John Corapi, a popular priest among orthodox Catholics who departed public life after a tumultuous period a few years ago, remains in the priesthood and is re-establishing his spiritual life. There's no indication he'll be returning to public life anytime soon, if ever. However, it's nice to know that Father Corapi can at least be a quiet prayer warrior during this extremely difficult time in the Church and world. I won't go into the particulars about what transpired in the past – it's water under...

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Connecticut home of the man who carried out the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary school has been demolished, Newtown officials said Tuesday. The 2-acre lot where the 3,100-square-foot house once stood in a leafy, suburban neighborhood will be left as open space under a plan approved by town officials. Several neighbors had asked for the building to be taken down, describing it as a constant reminder of the tragedy. Among them, Dave Ackart said in a letter: “Not only is the property a constant reminder of the evil that resided there – those of us...

As Twitchy has reported, President Obama ordered the release of five Gitmo detainees to secure the return of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from his Taliban captors in Afghanistan. Recently, a tweet was published from the account of Bowe Bergdahl’s father, Robert, which stated a desire to see all Gitmo detainees released. Here’s the tweet from Bob Bergdahl’s account, which was published May 28 and deleted Saturday night (at the time of publication the deletion of the tweet has not been acknowledged on the account): @ABalkhi I am still working to free all Guantanamo prisoners. A Texas talk show host stormed off set Tuesday after a heated discussion was ignited when she expressed disapproval of coverage showing Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend. “Can we just agree that this was an opportunity to make news?” KTXD-TV’s “The Broadcast” host Amy Kushnir asked. “He has every right to do what he wants, that’s not my issue,” she added. “I just don’t want it in my face.” “Well, then maybe you don’t need to see romantic comedies or when people kiss on television,” one of the co-hosts shot back. “Why does she not have the right to say...

Now I know why I take Fox News in small doses. I was watching Fox & Friends this morning and caught Brian Kilmeade blaming the Tea Party candidate for Cuccinelli's loss. Hello! Cuccinelli was backed by the Tea Party! He was most likely referring to the fake Libertarian candidate backed by an Obama bundler. Blaming the so called "Tea Party" candidate for the results of the VA race is flat out lying! No more Fox News for me! Not even small doses!

Readers have pointed out that Johannes Hirn made Tsarnaev the subject of a photo essay, "Will Box for Passport," taken before the boxer competed at National Golden Gloves competition in Salt Lake City. The captions give us a micro-profile of the suspect. Tamerlan, who studies at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston and wants to become an engineer, took the semester off from school to train for the competition. The next American wealth boom has officially begun. It may not feel like it for many Americans. But with the Dow breaching 14,000, shareholders and investors have recovered the more than $8 trillion in wealth lost during the recession and attained levels of paper wealth they haven't seen since the Roaring Oughts. The stock market has gone from wealth destroyer to the nation's largest manufacturer of new millionaires and billionaires. The market moves are creating a new virtuous cycle of confidence for the wealthy. A new survey from Spectrem Group shows that millionaire confidence in the economy hit the highest...

The White House scrambled Friday to explain Vice President Biden's confusing statement that "we weren't told" of requests for more diplomatic security in Libya, claiming he was referring only to "himself" and President Obama. Biden, during Thursday's debate, had made the controversial statement in response to criticism from Paul Ryan about the protection of diplomatic posts in Libya in the run-up to the Sept. 11 terror attack. Moderator Martha Raddatz pressed him: "And they wanted more security there." But Biden responded: "Well, we weren't told they wanted more security there. Even after the main vote on the Democrats' health bill Sunday night, tempers continued to flare in the House. Following the vote on the massive health bill, Republicans challenged the Democratic bill's language barring federal funding of abortions, saying it was weak and would effectively allow public funding for abortions. Rep. From the Republican side a voice shouted, "Baby killer!" It was not immediately clear...

STEPHEN KING: So who's going to be TIME Person of the Year? Really? Yeah. You know, I just filmed a segment for Nightline, about The Mist, and one of the things I said to them was, you know, "You guys are just covering — what do they call it — the scream of the peacock, and you're missing the whole fox hunt." Like waterboarding [or] where all the money went that we poured into Iraq. It just seems to disappear. And yet you get this coverage of who's gonna get custody of Britney's kids? Whether or not Lindsay drank at...

March 19, 2007 -- SOME historians are already concerned about "Che," the movie Steven Soderbergh is directing with Benicio Del Toro starring as the Communist revolutionary. Soderbergh seems intent on portraying Ernesto "Che" Guevara as a hero, who battled alongside Fidel Castro to free Cuba from a corrupt imperialist government, and then was martyred by the CIA. Soderbergh will no doubt gloss over the six months after Castro seized power in 1959, when Che was in charge of La Cabana fortress, overseeing the trial and execution of 600 political prisoners. "To witness such butchery is a trauma that will accompany...

MALIBU - Mel Gibson is set to star as Saddam Hussein in Iraq to the Future, a small-budget indie film about life in Iraq as it might have been if "the United States had pursued a course of diplomacy instead of destruction." Mr. Gibson will also write, produce, and direct this film. Best known for his violence-filled, larger-than-death epics such as The Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto, and Braveheart, Mr. Gibson will focus this time on "the little, intimate details that convey the human tragedy of war just as awesomely as a severed head does. "With God-only-knows how many Iraqis...

THERE'S a good reason why Sharon Stone had a first-class seat last Friday flying from New York to Los Angeles while her 9-month-old son, Laird, sat in coach with his nanny. "First class was sold out," a spokeswoman explained. "She tried to get them seats in first class but couldn't, and she didn't want them on a separate plane." Stone - whose "Basic Instinct 2" was savaged by critics and grossed a paltry $3.2 million its opening weekend - did venture back among the hoi polloi to visit her tot and to tell the nanny to keep him in his...
