The CrunchBang distro sounds interesting, will check it out.

Also ran across another useful one called Super Ubuntu. Which is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic with all the extra audio, dvd, and video codecs preinstalled including many extra programs. Saves alot of post installation time setting up. Install is over 1gb in size, real quick with USB drive.

Have enjoyed the JFK FR discussions throughout the years, learned alot.

It's a joy to watch the ‘Lonenutters’ gradually disappear spouting the official line, which BTW seems to me the the farthest out conspiracy of all, about JFK!

Also a long time student on the assassination here.

Should be a good panel on JFK tonight, C2C with George Knappe and Jim Marrs.

Thats a very informative guide, thanks.

Have been using Ubuntu since 8.04 LTS.

Just installed Karmic 9.10 on a dell D600 dual boot with XP, and Karmic Ubuntu Netbook Remix on Acer Aspire One.

Karmic is my favorite version by far, very fast and smooth.

I’m sure the govt will try to push something else through when the nation’s attn is on Amnesty.

But, I’m shocked that any President would legalize people from another country when so many Americans are out of work!

It seems as though there are forces from within our own govt trying to destroy us.

This is a lie, there have been a wide variety of opponents from all parties.

All the way back to the 2006 election where many Democrats won seats based on their promise to oppose Amnesty!

A BS article from the NYT’s, as usual, meant to create a perception rather than report accurately. Also, Real Americans that are out of work aren't from one party.

The debate about Microsoft and Linux reminds me alot of how people look at the govt’s and citizen's role.

With Microsoft more is done for you, less input is required, that's what you pay for. No matter your input/interaction with MS, there is a limit to what you control.

Linux is free natured and spirited, you become involved and interact with a system that puts the user first. The user sets the precedent, and gets out of it what they put into it. A few months of studying a Linux O/S from a book covering the installation, and use of say Hardy Heron 8.04 for example, would liberate many computer users in a refreshing way. :-)

  • Conservative talk radio on the wane in California

    03/15/2009 10:31:25 AM PDT · 43 of 63
This article is a classic example of the Mainstream Media creating a ‘perception’ rather than reporting responsibly and accurately.

I know the Calif Talk Radio scene well and for years. Some of the names mentioned not on radio anymore left over a year ago. This is mixing old news into a story fabricated for now. For example John Ziegler left long long ago, was involved in a station power struggle. John & Ken hit home more on the Calif budget problems than Ziegler did and they are still on the air.

Larry Elder might have been involved in a power struggle too, at KABC. He was replaced by someone more conservative than him, Mark Levine.

If anything there is more variety in conservative talk radio shows in Calif, and in the LA/Orange County area, there are new conservative talk show hosts being tried almost monthly. Check out KGIL 1260 stream.

This article is an example of how hard talk radio has hit California's state policies, ppl are being informed, tax revolts are developing, and the truth is on the air waves just like it's supposed to be!

Been on here for years, and was a big supporter of Fred Thompson on FR. Big FR fan here.

The Media won't have a choice, they can cover the Republican defiance anyway they want.

It's the attention it will bring that will count. The Republicans already have support from the John & Ken show on KFI 640 and many others, stream the show now. And support the Fatwah to establish a new anti-tax Assembly leader.

It's time to resist, the moment is right. And another suggestion, I would recommend those who have not read the book ‘John Adams’ by McCullough order it now and read it a couple of times for added direction.

***Are you out of your mind? Republican obstructionist treated sympathetically by the media? You must be new here, I mean to this world, to even consider for a moment even fair treatment by the media.

He doesn't know what to do? Why not do what he campaigned for during the recall? He's not supposed to be supporting tax or other increases!

As for the Republicans, they need to organize now around Hollister, and establish an anti tax Assembly leader. They have ultra big support in the KFI 640 John & Ken show and their listeners who would promote them and they should have some of these anti tax Republicans go out and promote their new agenda over the airwaves and media.

Call these people and lawmakers, let them know. All the info is on the KFI 640 John & Ken website including a tax calculator to tell you what your tax increase would be. Tax payers are horrified at what our state is trying to do!

I agree, sure it could happen, and right about the American Revolution's beginnings.

BTW, for anyone who wants detail and a good feel of the first 50 years of the the United States Of America buy the John Adams Book and DVD Set off Amazon.

Watch the series first one time with English subtitles, then thoroughly read the book. You will discover that our govt basically is going against our Founding Principles, and we the citizens are suffering ‘injury’ because of it's actions. This book and miniseries are keepers and should be revisited every year on the Fourth of July.

IMO there should be an organization established similar to the NRA or Heritage Foundation that monitors govt actions in relation to the Founding Principles, and a Legit ‘Tax Revolt’ organized.

Remember, the govt can't do evil things without your taxpayer money. And if millions revolt by withholding taxes maybe it can stay peaceful.
Sure, they can put you in Fema Detention camps with Illegal Aliens they accept from Mexico when it collapses to feed, cloth them and use them for govt labor, but if millions of Americans are in those camps they won't be paying taxes, the govt’s lifeblood!

***Contrary to the thoughts of others, it may happen. The American Revolution did not begin with widespread public support or large numbers of people. All it takes to begin is a group of men who believe in and fight for their principles. After it has started, it is easier for others to join. The other possiblity is that desperation may cause some to join as those who have nothing left to lose will see an advantage in fighting for a cause. If we do not have enough men of character, then it will only happen if people become desperate enough.***

    Are you sure?

People like Adams and Jefferson amongst others were very reluctant for revolution for a long time. It took many repeated ‘Injuries’ of many kinds to get them to move forward. They too often spoke of the unbeatable power of England as a sobering reason to do nothing.

Americans now are suffering repeated ‘Injuries’ by our govt like never before in history.

Though it doesn't look like we will do anything, rebellion is in our blood and heritage, and we've sat at the dinner table too many nights angered by what our govt is doing to us!

May I suggest watching the DVD John Adams Miniseries, and reading the book. The only account I know of the first 50 years of our history in proper context for a true understanding of our countries birth. Many people then were no more motivated to do anything about King George than we are now with our govt.

What I see as appropriate for now in the 21st century is a Nationwide Tax revolt. Perhaps an organization like Human Events, or the Heritage Foundation would start a National Tax Revolt movement, maybe build it up like the NRA, as tax ‘Injuries’ are Federal and Statewide. There are multiple tax revolts occurring in California right now. Search the KFI 640 John & Ken page for a look at the ‘Head On A stick Campaign’.

***There will be no revolution. Americans simply do not have the stomach for it anymore, and the federal government is simply too powerful to defeat in a military confrontation.

From day one to this day 2/6/09 I have not run across one person challenging the Official Story who was considered legitimate, creditable, non crazy, media worthy, etc. by the Mainstream Media or Govt.

How can this be? And anyone who supports the official line is truthful and so believable they don't even need to be checked out.

Reading the book Regicide stands on it's own, just by the way it's written and what's in it. There were countless people involved, military, mob, intel, and civilian especially in New Orleans. Working on the street towards undermining Castro amongst other things.

Anyone who relies on the Mainstream Media wouldn't know about this. As they don't report on it. There is a wealth of information these people wrote about what they did.

There is a wealth of information of people who tried to tell the govt about the JFK assassination. It was discovered that they weren't accepting information. That's right!

Research about the Revele (not sure if that's exactly right) investigation about the Marseilles assassins hired through the mob for our intel (They would fit in good and looked more like Americans and could be disposed of. I believe there is an Men who Killed Kennedy segment on this where when the investigation was completed he tried to turn it over to the govt to verify and make official. They were not interested! Why?

There was a deaf mute who went to the authorities about activity on the Grassy Knoll, they weren't interested.

Look what happened to the mob leaders testifying at the House Committee on assassinations about it.

The book Regicide has photocopies of an intel ‘conference record’ listing the 20 or so people involved in the plot.

There were witnesses who complained to Garrison that the authorities would not accept their accounts.

The authorities took Jean Hill into custody that day and told her not to say a thing to anybody about the shot she saw from the Knoll.

Why weren't all the many Knoll witnesses not included in the official investigation?

This is the tip of the iceburg, there really needs to be an in-depth book listing all these accounts together.

Generally for these type of assassinations some lowly person is singled out to be the fallguy or patsy, and a fancy cover story concocted.

It's much more difficult to accept your govt doing it than a lone nut.

It was disappointing to see the look of shock and fear in Garrison's staff when their research led them directly to the govt and they realized it.

Garrison's book is an informative read, or at least watch the movie JFK. There's a scene where his staff are at a restaurant and the realization hits home. I think they realized then there was no going back after that, and they were also shocked when the govt opposed them rather than help them find the truth.

It may have been Discovery, could have been the ‘Men Who Killed Kennedy’ series too, on History.

Trouble is channels like these have been compromised by threats of lawsuits, and the govt. If they air information negative to the govt they get pressured to retract it, usually someone can be found to sue as a cover story for the real reason.

In 2003 History debut’d 3 new additional ‘Men Who Killed Kennedy’ 1 hour segments. They basically solved the JFK case, no more mystery. The were forced to halt DVD sales and the segments and apologize.

These 3 segments covered the Limo deathbed story from a key Detroit employee, the search for a cosmetic specialist right after the assassination, info on LBJ involvement, and a one hour story about Oswald's mistress who was privy to what he was really doing in NO’s in 63.

***History or Discovery ran tests of Oswald’s steps during and after the assassination. Including walking across the floor and down to the break room. It all worked out. I don’t believe the lone gunman,. But I believe that Oswald could have done what was alledged or at least he had time to.***

***He could have, and did, easily made it to the break room.***

IMO, In the order of ‘garbage’ written on the JFK case here's how I rate them from worst first.

    1.Warren Commission

    2.Mainstream Media

3.Websites repeating the ‘official Story’, some being govt disinformation

    4. Of the 2000+ books written there are a few garbage books like Posner & Bugliosi, and others, but the majority are objective (one can tell by how they are written). Most honestly written books on the JFK case usually cover a micro investigation of some facet of the event, or post info. Rarely do they disagree on the basic established facts of the research community which BTW includes liberals & conservatives mutually working towards an answer.

And I do understand that our ‘House’ concluded there was probably a conspiracy in the JFK case, with extreme pressure being put on them to obstruct evidence.

***You need to understand that there's been a lot of garbage written about this case. Just because you can read some stuff in a book doesn't mean it is true. All those conspiracy books make crap up, or repeat old crap that someone else made up. The actual evidence is often completely different than what the conspiracy books tell you it is.***

Good story :-) I'm sure if you could have submitted it to the Warren Commission they would have entered it as evidence against Oswald!

We still don't have a witness that saw Oswald use the elevator or stairs. Excuse my Perry Mason approach to evidence.

BTW, did anyone listen to the radio show in the original posted link? It was an informative.

***When I was a young lad of about 10, I would race my Aunt's elevator by using the stairs. She was on the third floor. I could beat her going down, but up, the elevator beat me about half the time. This was a matter of 15 seconds, or less, for a 10-year-old to go three flights. For Oswald to go 4 flights down, would likely be no different. Also, going down, I was rarely out of breath or sweating. Going up? Different story.***

Would not stand up in court, and very unlikely he did use the stairs as it was a short period of time he had to use them. And the people using them didn’t see anyone.

***Witnesses not seeing him doesn’t mean he didn’t use the stairway.***

After the officials visited Oswald in the morgue he had ink on his body, not disputed. The Official story would not hold up in court.

***There is no evidence fingerprints were added later.***

Your behind on your research, there is plenty. There is more known about Oswald in the year 2009 than JFK or anyone else involved. More has come out on Oswald recently, one example being the 700+ page book written by his mistress who spent most of her time with him in New Orleans in 63. She was privy to his ‘Intel’ assignments in detail. People just don’t realize what info is out there, suggest search keywords on Amazon. There is weeks worth of reading available to anyone interested.

***There’s no evidence he had any “Intel orders” to do anything.***

***Myth. He was able to get to the break room from the sixth floor in time. This has been demonstrated by recreations.***

How? The Elevator was disabled and witnesses didn’t see him use the stairway. What did he do? Jump on the floor and fall magically through a hole? Recreations can show anything you desire! I suppose if you believe the ‘Magic Bullet’ theory, you could believe the ‘Magic Hole’ theory too.

***He was working on that floor. There finger and palm prints on the rifle and the boxes that place him there.***

The finger prints were added later, false evidence reported by a witness in the morgue. Of course he was working there, that was his ‘Intel’ orders to stay put until his next assignment.

***The policeman didn’t change his story in any way that would make a material difference.”***

The change in the story made it more believable that Oswald could have rushed to where he was found.

Oswald was never seen in the 6th floor by anyone, he wasn't there. He was seen by witnesses in the building where he would not have been able to move from the 6th floor down to where he was found moments after.

In fact, the motorcylce policeman was urged to change his testimony for the WC (probably intimidated with a threat), I believe his first account, not the 2nd.

***Who says Oswald can't be placed in the crime scene? Oswald worked there. He was seen there. He admitted being there.***

“Taque’s book was interesting, not to mention that Oswald can not ‘physically’ be placed in the crime scene, some of the earliest basic evidence provided by people in the depository and the motorcycle policeman show that.”

There are a number of books from witnesses, Jean Hill (The Last Dissenting Witness) who ran to the knoll looking for a shooter (She was interviewed live on NBC that day reporting a shot from there.

The Parkland doctor wrote a book I think called ‘Conspiracy of Silence’.

    And many more...

***Reading Jim Tague’s book convinced me that there was more than one gunman.***

Where Posner & Bugliosi leave off is when it gets interesting.

Intel conference record lists the 20 or so conspirators by name and researchable. From the book Regicide.

    Amazon excerpt:

OPERATION ZIPPER” was the code name of the assassination plot of John F. Kennedy, President of the United States of America.

The 98 pages long paper entitled “OPERATION ZIPPER Conference Record” is a long list of decisions and activities of various U.S. authorities in a CIA-conducted project. All major facts behind the Kennedy assassination are found in the “Zipper” Document. For the first time, the motives of those who organized and instigated the act are clearly and decisively exposed, as are the names and official positions of those who directed the killers. This document was probably produced by the five CIA top officials mentioned in the distribution list (McCone, Angleton, Carter, Crowley, Harvey) in order to cover themselves, since this document clearly proves that the assassination of J. F. Kennedy was anything else but a private plot by a few CIA senior officers going rampant.

Yes, very happy with Asus netbooks. Netbooks + Linux = JOY :-)

Amazon and Tigerdirect have good deals on Asus netbooks right now with 160gb hard drives and xp home in the $300-330 range. Also Acer Aspire with 160gb and better keyboard in this price range

***Asus EeePC laptops can be purchased for under $300 (though better to buy the ones online vs Target’s really stripped down model.)

    Very happy with them.***

The Obama Pelosi stimulus is not ethical, logical, American, realistic, constructive, or helpful.

$500 to a illegal alien worker and $1000 to a illegal married couple is just one example.
