On line poll-- Do you believe the president when he says the economy is on the right track?

<p>CHICAGO — The Rev. Jesse Jackson came to the defense Tuesday of the owners of a Chicago nightclub where a deadly stampede killed 21 early Monday morning, just as the city filed charges against the club's owners.</p> <p>On Tuesday, Jackson called for an independent investigation of the tragedy, which occurred after a security guard for a club promoter who rented out the Epitome Nightclub allegedly started spraying Mace or pepper spray at two patrons who had begun brawling on the second-story dance floor.</p>

In politics, November 2004 is a couple of light years of who-knows-what away. But I'll venture a guess now about the presidential election. Assuming he still wants the job, and he hasn't totally tanked the economy, George W. Bush will be re-elected. John Edwards will not be the next president. Nor will John Kerry, Howard Dean, Richard Gephardt, Joe Lieberman, Tom Daschle, Bob Graham, Wesley Clark or (he's got to be kidding) Al Sharpton. If Dubya does blow the economy into two more years of recession or worse, he'll follow Dad as a one-termer. And John Edwards still won't be...

Today during the "gavel to gavel" coverage of the Ashcroft hearing today CNN and MSNBC broke away to the Christy Todd Whitman hearing. Three guesses who the Senator currently having the floor was...none other than Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Are the networks already gearing up and giving free airtime for their pick for Campaign 2004?

C-SPAN 's Washington Journal this morning has added a phone line for "lawyers". Given the disproportionate support of trial lawyers for the Gore campaign is this not essentially like adding another line for liberals? What happened to C-Span's unbiased approach to the news?
