I like to troll a certain democrat message board (I don't know if it's o.k to use the name so I won't). Well, this morning I found a thread in the general discussion forum -- "Is the military turning on Bush and the Repubs..." If you check it out --- Definitely look at post 38...tell me, what is all that about? I have an idea and I don't like it. Why does the poster use an asterick? Some of the contents in those posts are disturbing.... If that poster hates getting sent on missions and being away from his family...

JOHN Cusack enjoys the perks of movie stardom. The affable actor is particularly fond of "celebrity looting." During an interview with Black Book magazine, Cusack pointed out a Roots clothing store and said, "We did celebrity looting there . . . They asked me to come over, patronize the store, pick up some stuff. So I took all my friends over, and we went straight for the $8,000 rack of leather coats and took a bunch. The managers, they get all nervous and twitchy. They freak. But you just look at 'em really hard and walk out. That's celebrity looting."
  • Cardinal Ratzinger Says Unilateral Attack on Iraq Not Justified

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, one the Pope's closest confidantes, does not believe that a unilateral military attack by the United States against Iraq would be morally justifiable, Zenit reports from Rome. ...MORE.... He said that "the U.N. can be criticized" from several points of view, but "it is the instrument created after the war for the coordination -- including moral -- of politics." The Cardinal then made a direct criticism of the "Bush Doctrine" -- which calls for preventive and pre-emptive wars. The "concept of a 'preventive war' does not appear in the Catechism of the Catholic Church," Cardinal Ratzinger noted.

Following the Israeli incursion into Jenin earlier this year, Paul Collinson, a British explosives expert working with the Red Cross, identified hundreds of explosive devices found there and noted that "the pipe bombs I found in Jenin are exact replicas of ones I found in Northern Ireland." The Daily Telegraph quoted a U.S. government official as saying in response: "If there was clear and convincing evidence that the IRA has been training Palestinians in bomb-making techniques, then we are facing a grave and grievous situation for the IRA — it would surely lead to a reassessment of whether the IRA...

"IRAQ TODAY represents a threat to no one." It's hard to imagine that argument coming these days from anyone other than Tariq Aziz, or another of Saddam Hussein's propagandists. But those are in fact the words of Scott Ritter, former chief U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq. This represents an astonishing conversion. Ritter, after all, abruptly quit that job in frustration three years ago, complaining of Iraqi obstructionism and U.S. acquiescence. At the time, he had quite a different view of Baghdad: "Iraq presents a clear and present danger to international peace and security." But Ritter has lately been hawking his...

<p>The Catholic Church, which spent hundreds of years trying forcibly to convert Jews to Christianity, has come to the conclusion that it is theologically unacceptable to target Jews for evangelization, according to a statement issued yesterday by organizations representing US Catholic bishops and rabbis from the country's two largest Jewish denominations.</p>

TROUBLED rapper Cam'ron, who was arrested for gun and marijuana possesion Tuesday, should have his head examined. He apparently admires the Sept. 11 terrorists. During an interview with Blender magazine, Cam'ron's partner-in-rhyme Juelz Santana rapped the lyrics to his and Cam'ron's new, untitled song: "I worship the prophet/ The great Mohammed Omar Atta/ For his courage behind the wheel of the plane/ Reminds me of when I was dealing 'caine." During Santana's detestable rap, Cam'ron nodded, shuffled his feet and gunned a joint.

It's unfortunate that 23 young Cubans used World Youth Day as an opportunity to seek asylum in Canada, organizers of the Toronto event say. The young Catholic Cubans are now hiding out in various locations around the city, anxious to elude the officials from their country who accompanied them to Toronto. The 200-strong Cuban delegation arrived in Toronto last week for the start of World Youth Day celebrations, six days of events that closed Sunday with a Papal mass for 800,000. But that celebration is an extremely religious and pious occasion, Paul Kilbertus, WYD communications director, told globeandmail.com Tuesday. Refugee-seekers...

LONDON: More than 2,000 years after they first claimed to have set foot in India, the mystery of the world's most obscure Jewish community - the Marathi-speaking Bene Israel - may finally have been solved with genetic carbon-dating revealing they carry the unusual Moses gene that would make them, literally, the original children of Israel. Four years of DNA tests on the 4,000-strong Bene Israel, now mainly based in Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Ahmedabad, indicates they are probable descendants of a small group of hereditary Israelite priests or Cohanim, according to new results exclusively made available to the Sunday Times...

Ex-president Bill Clinton criticized the Catholic Church in off-the-record remarks at a recent dinner in New York City, according an eyewitness who was on hand, observing that the same church officials who were tough on him during the Monica Lewinsky scandal now have to deal with a sex scandal of their own. "I was at a dinner with him a couple of weeks ago," WABC Radio's Mark Simone said Saturday. "Bill Clinton is there and everybody starts talking about the Catholic Church - the priests, the scandal, and how terrible it all is." Simone described what happened next. "In front...

<p>President Bush yesterday started a four-day federal focus on physical fitness, calling on Americans young and old to exercise, eat healthy and abstain from alcohol and tobacco.</p> <p>"This is an important message that we're sending to America. When America and Americans are healthier, our whole society benefits," the president said at a South Lawn fitness expo. <p>The admonitions were contained in a 57-page document, approved by Pope John Paul II, called "Starting Afresh from Christ, a Renewed Commitment to Consecrated Life in the Third Millennium."</p> <p>The document was released as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops met in Dallas yesterday and adopted a policy for dealing with the crisis of priests and bishops who have sexually abused minors. American bishops adopted a policy that will bar sexually abusive clergy from face-to-face contact with parishioners, but keep them in the priesthood. To date, four U.S. bishops and about 250 priests have lost their jobs as a result of accusations of sexual abuse.</p>

Evidence from within Elizabeth Smart's Salt Lake City home has led investigators to theorize the girl may have been abducted by a member of her extended family who staged it to look like the work of an outsider, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned. Since the 14-year-old girl's apparent kidnapping, police have scoured the family's Federal Heights home for physical evidence. Elizabeth's 9-year-old sister reported a man with a gun had taken the older girl from the bedroom they shared. Detectives have been unable to explain how the abductor -- seen only by the younger girl -- could have entered...

Back in January, when what many Catholics now simply call "the Scandal" broke, I had a stormy correspondence with a bishop — one of the last bishops I would have anticipated arguing with. The bishop was angry over the hard-line language I used in my early commentaries on the scandal. He took particular offense at my saying, in a letter to him, that it appeared that protecting children and families was not a priority for the bishops. "To suggest that they protect their resources before they protect their people is not just insulting, but unjust and wrong," the bishop wrote....
