Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies opened to a massive $90.6 million in North America, while Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Annie both suffered soft starts as the crucial year-end holidays got underway. Overseas, the final Hobbit entry also dominated, grossing another $105.5 million for a 12-day international total of $265 million and early world haul of $355.6 million. Five Armies soared in its five-day domestic debut after earning an A- CinemaScore, including a weekend tally of $56.2 million. Box-office comparisons to the previous Hobbit films aren't exactly parallel as the first...

Marco Rubio was on with Mark Levin tonight to talk Cuba and gave the best interview I’ve heard yet on Cuba from anyone. One of my favorite parts was where he listed four of five reasons why Obama’s new policy toward Cuba won’t help the Cuban people, one being based on how Cuba’s economy is set up so that 90% of all money in Cuba gets taken by the military because nothing is privately owned. Rubio is really quite impressive in his knowledge of Cuba.

How do you make a crazy quarterback situation in Washington even crazier? You add Michael Vick. The Jets quarterback, a Virginia native who's set to be a free agent at the end of this season, said this week that returning close to home to play for the Redskins would be a "dream come true." "I'm open to playing for anybody that wants to win," Vick told Newsday.com. "But obviously, going back home, I mean, that'll be a dream come true, but I would hate to get my hopes up for something that wouldn't happen. So I can't even think about...

When I walk into any movie, I hope it will be good. After all, this is how I spend the majority of my time. This is what I write about and speak about and think about more than anything else, and when I see critics who seem to dislike the majority of what they cover, I am baffled. Why would you do this work if you genuinely dislike more than you like?

Since the final Hobbit opens up tomorrow, please post your review. Tell us why, not just "it was good" or "it was bad". I will post my review early Saturday morning. Please, if you are not interested in discussing this movie, do not ruin it for any one with "I hate the CGI" or "Peter Jackson is a Marxist" or "Frodo and Samwise were a Hollywood homosexual conspiracy" - and no spoilers. From analyzing the themes the Shore use in the soundtrack, it appears that it will probably closer to the book, with a bit of sorrow at the end.

    12/13/2014 8:50:21 PM PST · by Perdogg · 45 replies
It’s less than a week until The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies hits the theaters, putting an end to the six-part Middle Earth saga that began with The Lord Of The Rings trilogy in 2001, and continued with The Hobbit trilogy in 2012. So does the series do a good job of tying up all the loose ends in the franchise? Early reviews seem to indicate the third Hobbit film to be not only the best in the trilogy, but on par with that of the original trilogy.

Washington head coach Jay Gruden could be "one and done" with the team if he insists on moving on from quarterback Robert Griffin III heading into the 2015 season, according to a report from Jason Reid of The Washington Post. Griffin was benched by Gruden in favor of Colt McCoy when it became clear that Griffin wasn't able to execute the kind of offensive gameplan that Gruden likes to run. Namely, Griffin struggles to make reads from the pocket, and Gruden's offense relies on a pocket passer.

hortly after the climactic battle scene of this final instalment of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit series gets underway, an outsize troll-like monstrosity with a pointed stone headpiece runs full tilt into a fortress wall, making a breach through which a bunch of orcs and other malevolent nasties can pour through. The troll, or whatever it is, lies full length on the ground, stunned; entirely disregarded as its compadres swarm past. Well, I can sympathise entirely; I reeled out of the cinema in bit of a daze myself after this extended dose of Jackson’s patented ye olde Middle Earth cranium-smashing.

Yesterday, mankind achieved something seriously amazing: we landed a space probe on a comet millions of miles away from Earth. Not actual photos of women, but sketched images of pin ups in skivvies. So this chick from The Atlantic does what “feminists” do when encountering the inane: she lost her damn mind.
