Please add me to the Dr Who ping list.

I started off with Tom Baker in ‘77. Nobody after him really interested me, until Ecclesten. Tenant was spectacular and I have warmed to Matt Smith. I think that’s in large part because of Amy and Rory. And, oh, that River Song!

I’m doing better (witness my occassional return here) for the most part. I’m pretty much recovered from the two eye operations last year, though I do still have stitches. I’m mostly doing OK with the Celiac, but I do get some cross contamination every month or so and that leads to an unpleasant couple of weeks. The latest thing has been physical therapy to deal with degenerating joints in my upper spine. Lots of exercises and stretching of the neck and the supporting muscles, but I’ve done well enough with that to have the visits to the therapists end just this last week. The exercizes will never end.

The next few things coming up for us should be more fun. My wife earned 4 nights at Couples in Jamaica in September. Using vouchers she’s earned from the airline our airfare for both of us is under $500 total. And it’s an all inclusive resort. Not a bad deal for a week’s vacation. And 3 weeks later we have a 2 week cruise from L.A.to the Hawaiian islands and back. We may even get to visit the set of the movie our nephew wrote, The Gangster Squad, while we’re passing through Los Angeles. Sean Penn is playing mobster Mickey Cohen, with Josh Brolin as the head of the LAPD team in the late 40’s intent on keeping the east coast mob out of southern California. There’s a lot of buzz about it, particularly how good his script is. Check it out online. The cast is amazing.

I hope all is well with everyone?

    Re: leading from behind

One of my favorite authors, Larry Niven, has an alien race in his Tales of Known Space series called Pierson’s Puppeteers who are the universe’s biggest cowards. Their leader is “he who leads from behind,” AKA The Hindmost. I’ve been calling Obambi that for some time.

At this moment I believe the vast majority gets it. Even in the “enemy” camp they understand how insane their leaders are.

BTW, just this moment on my local broadcast of FNS Juan just said that Obama was one of the bums that would be thrown out if that’s the kind of election we’re going to have.

Look at this the other way. All of this is from “legit” news sources.

Servicing the debt is around $20 billion per month. Military pay, Social Security Medicare and Medicaid add up to less than we take in each month, leaving about $20 billion, depending on whose numbers you believe. The cuts come from elsewhere.

What else do we cut? Obama has increased “discretionary” spending by over 80%. Let’s start there. It’s nowhere rear enough, but it’s a short term fix.

“The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.”

Apparently the guote this derives from is:

“The arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome fall.”

I like both and can extrapolate the one from the other.

I went through grade school with the twin children of a senior VP of one of the big airlines. He had flown in WW2 and was involved in the acceptance trials for the L1011 jumbo jet. He was at the controls and asked if it could do a barrel role and then proceeded to do one. Crazy man, but they bought a bunch of the planes, so all was forgiven.

sorry to drop out guys I'm functionally blind and reading and writing are too difficult for me to even read the thread much, let alone post. I only get on FR or most other sites rarely. I have to use what limited abilities I have to slog through my work. Written stuff takes me an order of magnitude longer to get through and you wouldn't believe how carefully I have to proof read to make sure I haven't misread or mistyped something. "Semi" transplant surgery last month to try to fix things didn't work. In fact it made things worse. We're looking at a redo of that procedure in March. if that doesn't work we probably do a full on corneal transplant soon after. Celiac is mostly stabilized. The biggest thing there is that I'm now 90 pounds lighter. I needed to lose the weight but 18 months of involuntary bulimia while they tried to find out what was wrong wasn't the way I'd suggest going about it. If you remember me limping or using a cane at the last Tech Ed that was actually from another arthritis like symptom of the Celiac disease. I'm only on FR this morning to try to find news about the earthquake in Chile and reports about the tsunami. I'm spending the bulk of my limited online time right now keeping up with friends and news related to the death of the trainer at SeaWorld. We were friends with her and a few of the other folks there for over a decade, though we haven't been in touch in a couple of years. We were actually with her the morning after the last incident with that whale. I won't go into it here but the news reports about the other two incidents are grossly inaccurate, at least based on what she told us. I miss you guys a lot. Keep up the good fight. the above took me over 30 minutes. I hope it's coherent

How many seconds into Lindsey’s appearence before he mentions he is a JAG officer?

I've mentioned this before, but the word is that  one of the JAG technical advisors on the TV show JAG knew Senator Graham when he was in the JAG corps and they ended up basing the weasely character of commander Lindsey on his view of Lindsey Graham. If you know the show you'll know that this character ended up a murderer in the episodes they used to spin off the series NCIS.

Did be live up to those expectations?

    Memes and Analysis for 5/24/2009

Obama versus Cheney along with the “moral imperative“ of driving conservatives out of politics (particularly out of the GOP) are the dominant memes of the day. MTP may be the most blatant in framing the issues in their show promos (Obama seeking middle ground? Who are they kidding?) but the rest of the MSM spin team are definitely in full court press mode.

The Democrats, queued by The One’s Thursday speech, are doubling down on their attacks on Bush, Cheney and the last eight years of defense policy. We were never truly in danger, what we did was torture (and don’t you dare disagree) and morally grotesque and, in fact, was the only real crime committed by anyone (including Al Queda) during that time. Regardless of Obama’s declaration of disinterest in prosecution, those calls are starting to get more shrill in the libosphere (including the DBM).

Colin Powell and Tom Ridge are on hand as reliable RINOs to denounce Cheney, Rush and all things conservative (why don’t they throw in some red neat and mention Ann Coulter and watch the spittle fly?). So the anti-conservative push is on full force. Oh joy!

By my count it’s 18 pro Obama versus 8 pro Cheney pundits this week. I wonder why the powers that be let it be even that close.

Support for The One might just be slipping. We can only hope.

He thinks of the nation’s safety first thing in the morning and last thing at night? Why can’t I believe that? My thinking is that he thinks of his power and what he can do with it, firs and last.

Actually. I think he honestly believes that his being in power, by itself, is the only thing that can keep the country safe. It's a kind of magic, I guess.

“Just” cataract surgery, Monday two weeks ago now, but the corneal transplant in that eye didn’t go so well 3 years ago and that’s causing problems now. It usually takes about a week for corneal swelling to go away after cataract surgery. As of 10 days after this surgery he says I’m about 50% of the way there. I now go back in two weeks and we’ll check again.

The really bad part for me is that my surgeon is now talking about having to do another transplant on that eye in the next year or two. Oh joy!

He also says torture doesn’t work, and we all know that’s not true.

It doesn't matter whether torture works or not because the EITs in question aren't torture. If we waterboard our own troops as part of their training it's not torture. As to the other techniques, just watch reality TV and you'll see worse.

It ain't torture and we must challenge anyone who uses that word, even ourselves when we slip and accept their use of it. We would do well to remember Orwell's lessens on the power of Newspeak.

When it's to their advantage to support water boarding they are all for it.

When it's out of vogue they attack us for defending the country!

Article 3, Section 3 of the Constitution

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

I'm pretty sure we have at least two witnesses here willing to testify to numerous treasonous acts, as defined above, for most Democrats and certainly for Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Reid. The problem will be picking one to concentrate on. There are just so many!

I'm game. Who else is interested?

Wow, what a monolithic presentation of the Obamabot world view. We have the healthcare triplets bouncing from show to show and I can only expect administration supportive pap from the official purveyors of the party line, AKA the media. One wonders if there will be any differences at all. Fortunately we have YouTube to document the lock step propaganda of our supposed media overlords. Let’s hope that they don’t find a way to block that from us.

The trend continues where these shows are devolving to mere echo chambers for White House propaganda efforts. One hopes that Murrow is rolling over in his grave over this. One could hope that Cronkite would likewise be performing similar afterlife gymnastics, but the old fraud just refuses to die. How inconsiderate!

Wrapping this up before I fall asleep, this is a pure white House propaganda weekend, with no regrets or apologies form the media. This from a once important part of on free society that is now completely lost to our new fascist overlords. Recovering from this will not be easy. Fortunately we have more outlets today than ever before. It’s up to us, folk, to get the facts out to counter their lies.

    • The first 100 days of The One is akin to the second coming of Christ… only better
    • It is too torture! So there!

Well, they have a good collection of Dhimicrats who will sing The One’s praises at full voice and a group of RINOs who will cordially agree with them, all in the cause of “comity” (not, I must point out, comedy). On the question of torture they have a consensus that it was shameful and was, in fact, torture, with the only disagreement seeming to be the degree of punishment warranted. Lindsey Graham has an interesting point about liability for folks like Nazi Pelosi, but I doubt it will come up.

The Trekie king might be fun if they would ask him about JJ Abrams reboot film, but “torture” questions will crowd that right out. DKG is easily dismissed as the Dhimmicrat shill that she is. Newsweak’s “God is dead” (again) Meacham is going to be pimping his upcoming “biography (hatchet job) of GWB. Totally loathsome. Gibbs is an embarrassment and if NBC had any journalists on the payroll MTP might be amusing. But since David Gregory is barely competent to tie his shoes without faxed instructions from the DNC I think I’ll pass.

CBS has lined up 4 people to-make an American sick. Double pass.

Kit Bond could be interesting on Fox but I’m not sure I can wade through Leahy’s bile to get to Bond’s stuff. I still might watch to see if Summers falls asleep.

Lieberman and Grahmnesly might be offering up some worthwhile fare, but gee, the rest of the CNN clown posse is so depressing! If only John King could bring himself to ambush Diane over her corrupt earmark buying millions of dollars in no bid contracts for her hubby with billions of tax payer dollars. Not gonna happen. Wouldn’t be prudent.

That leaves lil George Steponallofus and Imanutjob of Iran. Our Sunday viewing in saved! Wait a minute!

All in all another poor attempt at shoving an updated (and amateurish) Triumph of the Will down our throats. Well, October Sky is on mid morning (I’ve met the author/subject) or Rooster Cogburn is on Encore (I met the bad guy). At least I have alternatives.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

I've been out of town for a family event the last few days and. this is as far as I got before "crash and burn" set in.

I'm off to a much overdue LONG TIME SLEEPING .

Sorry for wimping out. Hope this helps anyway.

Analysis for Sunday, April 12, 2009

First, a blessed Easter and joyous Passover to our believing friends. Me, I honor both traditions as my own and find my greatest joy in this time of year.

    On to the shows

It looks like the Obamobots are taking the holiday weekend off and sending out the second line troops to carry their water for them. We also appear to have a semi interesting line up of opponents to counter them. Given fast moving events this could be a major mistake (I hope, I hope, I hope).  I’m afraid I might actually be tempted to watch this week. Oh, the horror!

A nod is made to the nature of this weekend with Rick (the progressive’s pastor) Warren and Archbishop (communion for abortion supporters is OK) Wuerl of Washington D.C. Not much of a nod, by my way of thinking.

Serious doubts seem to finally be emerging about the hagiography going on over The One, particularly his recent (miserable failure on his) overseas trip. This weekend might represent cracks appearing in the damn (SIC) of the MSM’s mindless support (and cover up). I don’t hold out much hope, but there is some small glimmer. It all depends, IMO, on some element in the MSM seeing more benefit to their continued employment (somewhere… anywhere) in bucking the party line from the Ministry of Truth. The next question is will the Obamabots allow such heresy or will they follow the Putin model of suspicious, selective (but unexamined) murders of “troublesome journalists?”

    That could be scary.

Here's a new article, linked from Drudge, that adds to the whole Obama teams image as corrupt thugs:
