“If it weren’t for the fact that I am devastated for my children I would almost enjoy watching Karma bite them in the butt.....”

I can really identify with this. My poor children...

As I sat and watched all of this unfold Tuesday night, I kept thinking that I was watching half of a nation commit murder/suicide. I had convinced myself the true ‘lesser of two evils’... Romney....would win...and the destruction could be slowed down.

My conservative brother, Andy, with whom I went to vote ....told me that morning (and I didn’t want to believe him) not to get too hopeful....there are an incredibly large number of just plain stupid people in this country. I guess he was right.

We fight on. We have no other choice....

Revenge??? The man is a fool.

Four years ago I voted for Palin, and the other guy I didn’t like so much because I, passionately, love this country. On Tuesday, I am voting for Romney/Ryan...because I STILL passionately love this country. It’s an added bonus that I have come to really like Mitt Romney. I expect to occasionally be disappointed by him....but.....I will never forget the past four years. Mitt Romney....I feel....can be worked with. (And to he!! with the snake from Nevada.)

Kids that age are idealistic little mushbrains. They want to right all wrongs....fix the world. They also are true little sheep....they BELIEVE what their teachers tell them. I know how you feel, believe me. I was getting desperate myself, as I depend on Free Republic to get me through these things. If you have a Facebook account you might try Free Republic on Facebook. Someone suggested it near the beginning of the thread. It was a completely satisfying sub, and since many Freepers populate the place, it felt like home. Quite a fast moving and stimulating way to follow a major event, like tonight’s debate.

Plus, lol, you can click the like button. I don’t know why I love that. Kind of like being able to say ‘Amen’ to a preacher preaching a good sermon. :)

    In Jesus’ Name...........”

    AMEN!

    “Pray without ceasing.”

No man, no candidate is perfect.....can’t be, as they still live in and contend with ‘the flesh’.....but the question for me is who will come the closest to honoring the founding principles of our Republic? Who has shown genuine love for this country of ours....who BELIEVES in the United States of America and respects the people and their potential for greatness? Who loves and recognizes the greatness of our Constitution?? Not Obama.

I’ve come to respect Mr Romney more than I would have believed possible....in spite of his flaws. So, I will be praying tonight, with all good people, for that spirit of confusion to smother Obama. I also pray for Romney, for clarity of mind...that the right words be given him, to defeat this enemy. Also, that he will anticipate and defeat all the attempts of the moderator to shut him down....because he’s gonna try.

Go get him Mitt....take him DOWN!

And, oooh baby, after that drubbing Obama took in the first one, all the people who didn’t know much about Romney are interested.....sitting up and soaking in everything the Romney camp is pitching. Reinforced by that remarkable performance, one on one, with O, Mr.Romney is sitting with plenty of ‘carpet-bombing’ ad money left. Good strategy.

I have never been counted among those deceived by Obama....to me it has always been clear just who and WHAT he is......but, there are really despicable people in the world who ARE personable and charming.... Obama..... isn’t. He is arrogant, thin-skinned, petulant....the internal anger that simmers inside of him shines through those eyes... How could so many people be so fooled?? They keep taking these polls....polling ‘likability’....and this unpleasant man keeps winning. HE is ‘likable’. How can this be? Or do they just say he’s a great guy.... to avoid being pegged as ‘racist’? To show, to themselves and the ‘world’, what great people THEY are?

With Romney, on a PERSONAL level separate from the political stuff, the worst I’ve thought about him is ‘plastic’. I guess I’ve never seen enough of him to form a more realistic picture of the man under the image. I was able to see a better picture of the whole man in the debate. I think I like that man.... again, separate from the politics.

But Obama? Yuck. This is NOT a nice man. But he is constantly being called likable...a great guy. There are many really shallow people out there. And they vote.

Sorry for posting this ramble...but this has always bugged me.

Oh, I believe it. Liberals have mastered the art of the conservative ‘sounding’ campaign. Take a look at their reelection ads. They are filled with ‘conservative’ values and principles. They are savvy enough to know that conservative sounding ideals ‘sell’. Once elected, or safely re-elected, they head on back to D.C. and carry on the same way they did before they were inconvenienced by having to head home and renew their lies.

Most of the folks out their don’t pay as much attention to politics as we do here. In fact, too many are appallingly uninformed....and happy to stay that way. These people are easy to fool. And if said lib has managed to bring a bit of bacon home to the folks....well, why turn against someone who has done soooo much for his constituents??? • Is Herman Cain Experienced Enough to be President?

    pj_627 to MNJohnnie

Yes, a great article. The title though is one that those of us, sick and tired of the denigration of Mr. Cain, are leary of, expecting another patronizing attack. I would recommend those using the “not enough experience to be POTUS” argument against Cain consider the last words of the article:

“Whether or not Cain is the best man for the job next November, there is a bigger issue here: the fact that we tend to choose our candidates using the wrong criteria. We have to stop talking about “experience,” that poorly understood, water-muddying term, and start talking about wisdom. Will America finally elect a wise leader? Given that Americans don’t even talk about the quality, I’m not very optimistic.”............

Experience can be gained, and gained quickly. Wisdom.....that’s another story. My impression of Herman Cain is that he has that exceedingly more important quality...in abundance. Plus, he quite openly LOVES this country and our constitution. Obama has a hard time PRETENDING to love the same...

Excellent letter. I agree with you, totally. I hope Herman Cain has the opportunity to see it and, if he needs it, to find comfort in your support. You are a good man, and a wonderful FRiend.

I am sure that many here.... I KNOW that many here.....share the same outrage and the same gut boiling anger that I have felt these past few days. The same determination that these bastards will NOT get away with this again!

I have been grossly disappointed in those ‘conservatives’ who have been among those scrabbling to do damage to Cain, to join in the efforts to ‘take him out’....

All of our past experience with the media.....with rinos...should have taught us who and what these people ARE. We should NEVER be weak minded enough to automatically believe ANYTHING reported or printed by one of these jackals.... At least, not without solid, documented and proven evidence....

I don’t see that here. What I see are the advocates of other ‘conservative’ candidates, and the libs of course.... hoping that there might be enough ‘there there’ to damage Herman Cain and elevate their guy.

Lloyd, maybe your words will remind us, here, of exactly what ‘they’ are trying to do. Yes, they want to damage Cain enough to end the threat he so obviously represents. Their SECOND, vehement desire, is to damage and divide US. To defeat US. We cannot let them succeed.

    Go Herman Cain!

His put down was instantly picked up by the dims and used repeatedly throughout that campaign.... Cain’s time as a talk show host really is such a small part of Cain’s background. The total package of his life’s experience is just so darned impressive. His time as a talk show host really just honed his ability to think on his feet, to be quick with a timely response.

I don’t get the sense that Rush is really all that negative about Cain’s quality as a candidate. He is just looking with open eyes at the whole picture being played out in front of us. He knows the Dems, he knows the left, he KNOWS how the establishment Repubs work and think.

It really will be an uphill battle for any conservative in this race. Especially one who doesn’t have deep pockets and legions of rabid supporters ready and willing to play down and dirty with the opposition. In fact, I wouldn’t put it past the Romney camp to really play up Cain, just to disillusion and turn off the conservatives who oppose him.

I’ve heard that here quite a bit. It may be true, but I’m not sure I believe it. I don’t have the sense that that is Cain’s intention at this time. BUT....if offered, Cain might just consider accepting the offer. If he is serious about changing the downward direction we are caught up in he would WANT to be part of a new government....but Romney?? That would be really, really hard to accept. (intense, disgusted shudder here)

I view Cain as David and Romney as big, bad Goliath. If those of us who like the idea of a Cain presidency really want to see that happen, we need to start providing some ‘small stones’ to the Cain campaign, in the form of those dimes, nickels, quarters, etc. He needs to be able to compete against that money machine.

It CAN be done. David selected three stones before facing down Goliath, but it only took ONE to take down the giant.

You are correct. There is NO perfect candidate. There will ALWAYS be something to disagree with. Sarah Palin was my personal number one. Cain is next. If I can agree with him a good 90% of the time, that is good.

I had a talk with my brother, a true conservative, and we went through the list of who’s left, rating them between ourselves. It’s Cain for us now.

A few days ago I had a conversation with my dad, who is an 86 year old Vietnam vet and retired Air Force guy, and he was telling me about this ‘guy’ he’d been hearing about, the ‘Godfather pizza man’. He told me he really, REALLY liked the man. I sent him toddling off to Youtube to do some research. He then agreed with me that if Sarah didn’t run, Cain was the route we’d go.

I’m disappointed Sarah isn’t running, but totally understand her reasoning. The media and the elite R’s have really done a number on her and, especially, her children. They would have really doubled down on their efforts to totally destroy this woman AND her kids. What we’ve seen up until now would seem like the calm before the storm. She can do much good for the country in other ways.

    Go Cain!

Exactly! THEY fear HER because they know that, despite their best efforts to destroy her.... she could, and will, take out their guy... “the one THEY were waiting for.”

What really gets me is how many... so many.... who really believe they are conservatives...fall for their tactics, hook, line and sinker.

A couple of days ago I was listening to Rush and this woman, a conservative, called in. Said, in effect, that what she didn’t like about Palin was all the ‘drama’ she surrounds herself with. My mouth dropped open, I screamed at the radio...”You idiot! You’re falling for it... you’re letting THEM define who she is, not what SHE says.”

An establishment ‘R’ cannot defeat Obama. Any candidate endorsed by the ‘regulars’ will be chewed up and spit out as soon as the nomination is achieved.... Well they have been chewing on Palin, AND her family for quite awhile now. And they cannot beat her. The LSM is counting on us to do the spitting out. And so many of ‘ours’ fall for it. This SO ticks me off!

“....CBS could just be doing the conservative voters a favor by keeping them from wasting time and money on Mrs. Palin.”...

You know, these jokers are taking a whole lot of TIME trying to convince Republicans, Conservatives, Independents and everyone else that Gov. Palin has no chance of winning.

Knowing the MSM as we do, that should tell us that she is the one, the candidate that THEY think can motivate and excite enough folks to show up on election day.

A lot of people don’t like her, true... but I believe that, by the end of a Palin campaign, a whole lot more will be HAPPY to vote for her.

I don’t see ANYONE else from ‘our’ side, declared or undeclared.... who can MOTIVATE people in numbers large enough to kick the abomination that is Obama out of the people’s house in 2012. I just don’t see it happening.

“.....About her leaving her job as governor, she wasn’t able to govern because the MSM and liberals were constantly suing her and hounding her, she did the state of Alaska a favor....”

The thing about all those frivolous and bogus ‘ethics’ complaints...... The libs and the establishment Republicans, AND the MSM, were attempting to bury and destroy Sarah Palin. They saw her as a threat to their existence and wanted her OUT of the picture. They wanted her so broken and tainted that she would not be a threat to them any longer. Too many conservatives, including me, were already thinking of 2012 and Palin leading that charge. So they tried to kill her, politically.

She did right by Alaska, removing herself, and allowing state business to return to it’s normal functions.

They thought they’d won the battle, won their war against her. They totally underestimated this woman, AND those of us who support her. I don’t think she’s perfect. I don’t view her as an ‘icon’ to be revered or worshipped. That would be idolatry. As a Christian, I worship God, not man/woman. I DO see her as a leader with her head set squarely on her shoulders..... with values I share and a lot of really good common sense.

BTW, I’m the mother of a girl, who used to be a teenager. I’ve been in the same situation with my child. You pick up the pieces and go on.... offering love and support.... for your child, not for the behavior.... and you love with all your heart the unexpected gift of a grandchild. In spite of the circumstances, I am so happy... grateful even, that my girl chose life. If there are those here on Free Republic who would consider me less of a conservative, less worthy of consideration, because of the actions of my daughter.... oh well. If there are those who use these circumstances in the lives of the Palins as an justification not to support her..... how incredibly ignorant and judgmental and shameful, of them.

Go Sarah... if you run, I will support and work for you.

    http://www.marklevinshow.com/sectional.asp?id=32930#

I would never have a chance to listen to him if he didn’t make his show available this way. Totally free to listen or download.

My sincere condolences to Mark and his family. On May 6 we had to put down our wonderful, adorable, happy, sunny..... perpetually loving and cheerful George. George was a fascinating Basset Hound/Cocker Spaniel mix.... looked like a really thick Cocker Spaniel.... totally adorable. I still feel such heaviness, mixed with the joy of having had him in my life, when I think of him.

Like so many of us, I totally understand and feel what Mark, and his family is feeling right now.

  • We Stand With Israel

    I stand with Israel. Period.

If Obama was the Christian he claims to be, he would recognize the authority of God, AND recognize that God has ALREADY established the true borders of Israel....one example found in Ezekiel 47: 13-20. He would not continually seek to align himself AND this country with those who seek to wipe Israel off the map forever.

Today Israel occupies only a spit of the land that is rightfully theirs .... but someday soon, VERY soon I pray, they will occupy what was lawfully given to them by the Creator.

Obama’s delusional supporters get furious when O’s ‘Christianity’ is questioned by conservatives. This latest, of many, outrages only strengthens and confirms my total disgust with and contempt for the resident of the White House. He is a total a disgrace. I have no respect for this man.... and

I stand with Israel, now and always.

  • Fitness Guru Jack LaLanne Dies at 96

Jack LaLanne was cool... he really was. I couldn’t listen to him without smiling. The man knew how to live with zest and gusto and enthusiasm. I bet he wasted very little of his 96 years on this earth. Such a POSITIVE outlook.... such be a lesson for us all. Yes, deal with the problems and the ‘bad’ stuff... but never forget to spend time focusing on the positive and good as well.

“...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things..” Phil 4:8.

I don’t know much about the man he was, other than what I saw on television.... But you can’t consistently fake happiness, and that man was happy. I KNOW that his focus had to be on the positive... more than the negative.. result? A long and happy life, and folks like me looking at the overall picture that was Jack LaLanne’s life, and smiling fondly. How accurate am I? Not a clue, but I know the man will be remembered kindly by most, if not all who knew him. A life well lived.

So, so painful to listen to this poor man.... and his wife earlier. Shocking to learn that it could have been so much worse for this family, as his son would also have gone with his sister.....but didn’t because he had karate class. In an instant, they BOTH could have been gone.

Needless to say, their whole family feature prominently in my prayers. I pray for all of them. So much pain, yet such an thoughtful man... kind sounding, loving man.

I’ve spent the past day alternating between tears, rage.... and total disgust. Overall, I’m just so sad.

Briefing at the bottom of the hour. Thank GOD she is still alive. Praying HARD for this lady whose politics, at this moment, I don’t give a DAMN about. Hard, fervent prayers for this lady and the others injured and all of their loved ones, who must be going through hell right now.

All other details will become clear in time.

What a horrible, HORRIBLE thing to have happened. This is NOT what America should be.

Pray for the congresswoman.....AND for this country.

  • Dems Suggest the Bible Hates the Rich

    12/22/2010 2:25:07 PM PST · 33 of 55
    pj_627 to F15Eagle

No, the libs/dems don’t believe the Bible is the actual, inspired word of God. So, they pick out a bit of this and a bit of that, when it suits them..... usually when trying to tie a hypocrite label on conservatives.

My Bible says that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God...... rich AND poor alike. All have sinned and the wages of sin is...... death. God said it, and I choose to believe God. I also know that He provided a way out of that death sentence for whoever chooses to take it and believe it and put all their faith and trust IN it... in The Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15: 1-4.

God doesn’t ‘hate’ the rich. He just knows that many of them have set their affections on their possessions first (idolatry), and not on God...... where their focus should be. But, in addition to the evil rich, ALL of mankind is condemned and lost without Christ.

It is a real shame and tragedy that so many libs don’t believe in God, the God of the Bible. A terrible fate is waiting for them.

  • Media Creates New Palin Scandal! Sarah Accused of Bringing Hairdresser on Haiti Trip

“They have been used to firing without receiving any return fire. Those days are over.”.........

Yep, they are used to an opposition that REFUSES to engage!! Those days have GOT to be over, because THEY will continue on with what has always worked sooooo well for them. They hit us, and those we support, with lies, distortions, half-truths.... and we sit there and TAKE it.

NUTS to that. We hit back, and hard, with the TRUTH. In this case the media were, once again, flat out lying..... and in a way designed to belittle and discredit the seriousness of Palin. Thank God that Free Republic is, for the most part, Palin friendly territory, and willing to hit back...HARD... at the lying creeps.

Awwww, poor kitty. Well, at least when he passed he was a well kept and well loved fella.

My Catie is almost as big as the Prince. And I swear my girl does NOT live by the food dish. I spend a lot of time in her sweet presence and, having....... several....... kittehs, I tend to monitor who’s eating what, (as well as the pooping, piddling, sleeping and squabbling habits of all). I think she has metabolism issues, but her personal physician (Vet) told me that’s rare in cats. What does he know. She’s MY baby.

My sincere condolence to the family of Prince Chunk. I know they will miss him.

  • Charles Krauthammer Rips Liberal Media for Being Obsessed with Sarah Palin

Hey, thanks. MUCH calmer now, lol. Read your homepage. I’m impressed with your background. I guess you know then, that when I referred to ‘wimps’, I wasn’t talkin’ about you. You were just my venting/sounding board. ;~))

We lived in Logansport for a couple of years after my dad retired from the Air Force. He was rooting around, trying to figure out his second career. His engineering degrees finally sent us up this way, NW Indiana. Typical military brats, all four of us were born in different states. I arrived in Texas.

As to Sarah Palin and the media obsession with her..... As long as they believe she has a chance of being the nominee, they’ll keep hitting her. They want to KILL her dead in her tracks. Among those mentioned as possible candidates for the Repubs, are ambitious, clueless SOB’s, and THEY want to stop her just as badly as the loony left and the dims do. So, they back stab, anonymously leak inaccurate stories about her ..... belittle everything she says and does. Heck, they just totally make stuff up.

The media, and these nameless, cowardly R’s won’t let up, won’t stop ‘obsessing’ about her until they are certain they’ve killed her chances....

I am so disgusted by so many people right now. Especially those of ‘us’ who are willing, so willing, to believe the garage spewed out by the media.

“C’mon folks I am tired from reading all the reasons why Sarah can’t win, who are you rooting for?”.......

Excellent question. I ask that here on FR, and I hear, vaguely.... Romney(NO!) ... Mitch .... Huck (sigh) ...... Tim ...... Newt....

Not ONE of these men can generate enough enthusiasm to get elected dog catcher right now .... not in a nation wide election. Besides, they all appear to be WIMPS..... letting the ‘GIRL’ get out there and take all the heat. When do you EVER hear of ANY of these men confronting O about the path of destruction he has us on! When???

Nope, Sarah Palin is the only one with the guts to dive into the fight NOW.... to try to influence..... to HOLD BACK some of the massive damage being inflicted on each and everyone of us.

So, some of you are getting sick of seeing her in the news. She’s ruining her chances..... You don’t like the and sound of her voice.. (she’s a girl, a WOMAN, and that’s what she sounds like.. sheesh) But who the he!! else is OUT THERE willing to FIGHT for this country? Really, who???

Believe it or not, I AM willing to consider another name.... but, realistically.... WHO?? If there is someone else they need to get out there.... and STOP back stabbing Sarah Palin and BEGIN targeting Obama!

“Is Carter a “Useful Idiot” or just an idiot?”.....

Lol, actually my first and only thought when reading the title of this thread was “What a freakin IDIOT!”

Don’t know just how useful he is to anyone...... I mean, to be a successful ‘useful idiot’ a successful tool, he’d have to have some credibility with more than the fifteen or so percent of people who actually admire him. He’s left toooo many bad memories in his wake.

  • Rove: Sarah Palin Needs To Show She Can "Unify" Republicans

“Unify Republicans”, eh Karl? You mean the same ‘Republicans’ who are working overtime behind the scenes to take her down? They are as diabolical, if not more so, than the Dims. The R’s at least are supposed to be on the same general side. But these guys have become masters of the anonymous source, off the record put down. Gutless wonders they are. Well, once they stop trying to DESTROY her, I’m sure we can all ‘get along’.

Actually, though, they are the ones who need to unify with conservative Tea Party principles. I didn’t cast MY votes for the same old garbage they want to dish out. Once they figure out who and what actually won during the mid-terms, maybe everyone can get together and have a chat.

Thank you! I’ve read too many threads that disintegrated quickly into back and forth squabbling over..... nothing more than different perceptions about something. I sit here and read...and can clearly see what’s going on. I almost pull my hair at the incivility expressed by people I would have thought knew better. I usually hesitate, then avoid jumping into the fray because I know my own tendencies to a sharp tongue. Have spent decades trying to grow into a moral, honest Christian woman.... then I spout off again..... oh well, we grow more each day....when we are honest with ourselves..... only with honesty.

    Glad we’re square! :~))
