Really great to hear from you, Davey. Like you and so many of our old group, I mostly lurk and learn. Seem like the older I get, the busier I am.........or just slowing down and everything takes me twice as long to do. Plus, I’m caring for my 96 year-old father who has Altzheimer’s. Mr. RR is now retired, so he is a big help with Dad. It takes two of us.

Drop in from time to time. I miss hearing from the old T.M.ers.

My son ran in Boston yesterday. He just called to see if there was any news about the airport. His plane just landed there, they were told get get their stuff and get off ASAP. He called from outside the terminal. No one is telling them anything, but the bomb squads are there.

Well, I don’t know how that double post occured. And I haven’t even had my wee glass yet.

Our youngest son, age 42, ran the Marathon this morning. I’ve been in near panic since I heard the news. We finally were able to reach David a few moments ago. He had already finished the Marathon and was in a nearby bar celebrating, when they felt and heard the explosions. I won’t go into detail about what he saw and experienced.

Now, I need a wee glass of wine.

Having a former connection to Ellsworth, I thought you might find this ineteresting. All over our news today and we are understandedly outraged.

Just today, Megyn Kelly had a rather lengthy segment about Gosnell, and the “Five” just covered it as well. I’ve also heard it mentioned on several other programs throughout the day.

FOX News has been covering pretty heavily.......but no one else.

My Dad, who is nearly 96 years old and lives with us, shot a wild turkey (with a pistol) in our back acreage yesterday. I’m roasting it this weekend. I will challenge anyone who tries to take his guns away. He can’t remember what he had for breakfast, but he knows and respects his weapons. And so do I.

I have a terrible problem with insomnia. My body is tired, but my mind just won’t slow down. A melatonin helps me get to sleep, but doesn’t keep me asleep. About two in the morning I am wide awake, take a Benydryl and read FR. That helps. I refuse to use any prescription drugs for sleep.

I’ve often wondered, if the SHTF and you cannot get a scrip from your Dr., are there any OTC veternarian antibiotics that would be effective for human use?

I’ve got three to five foot drifts all around my home here in the Black Hills. Mr. RR is plowing, or trying to plow the road to our house. In inches, I don’t know how many we got. Some places are bare and in others, the snow would reach my chin. Not supposed to let up until tomorrow midday.

Not complaining. We desperately need the moisture. We get most of our big snows in March and April. What is unusual is the temperature for this time of year. Only 9 degrees here.

Since I’ve retired from teaching English to recalcitrant high schoolers, I’ve been teaching cooking classes as a part-time job.

Fool proof hard boiled eggs:

Place eggs in a heavy saucepot. Fill with cold water to at least an inch above the eggs. Bring to a boil. Immediately cover pot and remove from heat. Let sit until room tempeature.

They will be perfect with no dark rings around the yolk.

Peel under cold running water.
