  • Windows Installer App not Working

I have a Lenova C440 All-in-One Windows 8.1 PC. Recently I tried to install an application from the DVD installer disc. It failed. The first part of the process, choosing the location and the type of install, worked fine, but when the disc was supposed to spin up and copy/install all the files, it just sat there with no activity. After several minutes, I canceled out of it. I tried an install disc for a different app, and it failed similarly. I have a question about Social Security. I'm considering going part time at work and applying for Social Security. If I keep my part time work income under the $14,700 limit, so the SS payments would not be reduced, would my Social Security receipts be included in Gross Income on my 1040? To ask it it another way, let's says my SS payments total $12,000 for the year, and my part time work payments total $13,000. Would my Gross Income on my 1040 the following April be $13,000, $25,000, or something in between? Thanks,

State police have arrested two men accused of stealing a privately owned steel bridge from a secluded area in Lawrence County. Media Matters, the George Soros-backed legion of liberal agit-prop shock troops based in the nation's capital, has declared war on Fox News, and in the process quite possibly stepped across the line of legality. David Brock, MM's founder, was quoted Saturday by Politico promising that his organization is mounting "guerrila warfare and sabotage" against Fox News, which he said "is not a news organization. It is the de facto leader of the GOP, and it is long past time that it is treated as such by the media, elected officials and the public.” To that end, Brock told Politico that...

Just as the MPAA is preparing to offer movies to customers at home while they're still in theaters by limiting playback to DRM-protected digital outputs only, the HDCP protocol they rely on may have been cracked wide open. All devices that support HDCP, like Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and displays with HDMI inputs, have their own set of keys to encrypt and decrypt protected data and if keys for a particular device are compromised, they can be revoked by content released in the future which will then refuse to play. Now, posts have been floating around on Twitter about a...

Yesterday, the New York Times broke the story that one of the Taliban’s top military commanders, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, had been captured in Karachi during a joint raid by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the CIA. Baradar is reportedly second only to Mullah Omar in the Taliban’s loose hierarchy. The Times reported this as a huge victory, and the Obama administration took a few well-deserved bows. At first blush, and based solely on the Times’s reporting and the administration’s reaction, this did indeed appear to be a major achievement. Originally slated for the Community Room, large crowds forced the BCC to move the meeting into the larger Performing Arts auditorium. Coburn commented that his last town hall meeting netted about 150 visitors. Thursday’s meeting brought in excess of 1,000 citizens. Although attendees were passionate about their concerns, the crowd was sedate compared to national reports of town hall meetings gone bad. Audience members took turns asking questions or stating comments on topics including health care, social security and...

OK, I seldom post short vanities like this, unless I have a computer problem I need help with, but I've been thinking seriously about the economy and the stimulus plan, and I've hit on a fool-proof plan. All Obama has to do is to keep nominating people to cabinet positions who haven't paid their taxes. The only real change he needs to make is to withdraw them from nomination as soon as it's revealed that they have unpaid taxes. Heck, by the end of his term in 2012, he'll have raised at least $800 Billion.
