By Jim Caple ESPN.com ATHENS, Greece -- If there had been a guy dressed up in a gorilla suit, I would have sworn this was just another meaningless NBA game in Seattle in January instead of the Olympics. There was a dance team wiggling and jiggling during timeouts. There were volunteers tossing rolled-up T-shirts into the stands. There was the pounding sound of pop tunes that haven't been popular in years. Most importantly, there was a team of NBA players just going through the motions. "I'm humiliated,'' U.S. coach Larry Brown said after his team's 92-73 loss to Puerto Rico....

So I'm working at home today, listening to the campaign related messages roll into my phone, and the following one comes in: Hello, I'm Jack Brandenberg... Crap! this guy again. Last week I was getting at least two a day from this guy. But hold on! Turns out the opposition (the conniving DemocRATS) was making all the calls, specifically to annoy people into voting against Brandenberg. And the thing is, it worked! On me anyhow. I was going to vote against him. I'm still extremely P.O.'ed at the RINO's of Michigan jacking the cigarette tax to the 3rd highest in...

President Bush has emphasized that the war against terrorism will be lengthy and difficult, despite the initial successes in Afghanistan. He's right. That's why it is imperative that the United States promptly clear the decks for war. We must jettison obsolete or unnecessary commitments and expenditures. And that includes our unneeded military presence in certain areas around the globe. When a family suffers an unexpected hardship or tragedy, it does not continue with business as usual, leaving its priorities and spending patterns unchanged. A nation must alter its priorities when facing similar difficulties. For America, the war against the terrorists ...

I've noticed something odd. In recent years, a number of people have changed their names in deference to their religion. Usually they are Muslim, although if I remember correctly, Jews that emigrated to Isreal also changed theirs. In the case of American sports figures and celebrities, these name changes were instantly adhered to and respected. They've include: Muhomad Ali --Cassius ClayKarim Abdul-Jabbar -- Lew AlcindorHakim Olajuwan -- Akeem OlajuwanAnd on and on. Heck even the change from dorSETT to DORsett was respected. Except, now for one. Suleyman al-Farisaka the American Taliban, whom the media sympathetically refers to as "John Walker" ...

DETROIT -- Soon after the Sept. 11 attacks, a handful of international students withdrew from Michigan universities and enrolled in schools in Canada or returned to their native countries. Afraid their looks or beliefs would compromise their safety, parents asked them to return home or they left on their own. The departure of foreign college students from Michigan campuses hasn't been as severe as at some schools in Arizona, Washington, Colorado and California, where hundreds returned home. But Michigan college officials worry that the continuing fallout of the attacks will shrink international student enrollments this winter and fall 2002, a decline that school officials argue would hurt financially and educationally.

LONDON -- A bowl of cornflakes can kill you -- not to mention a ham sandwich or a T-bone steak. Getting vaccinated can kill you. Flying economy class can kill you, and business class isn't much better. The rubber duckie in your bathtub can kill you (and your children). And put down that cell phone, before it kills you!(Article continues....)
