Well, another year, another Christmas Eve. I’ll be home alone with my faithful greyhound, sipping vino and watching George Bailey learn how wonderful life is, which has been my tradition for about 15 years now. Anyone else going it solo tonight?

Besides my goofy rescue greyhound, I’ll be solo this Christmas Eve. All is well. Had some solid family time with my kids last night, and will be with family tomorrow. But, for now, I’m enjoying a salted caramel latte, basking in the glow of the Christmas tree lights and about to plug George Bailey and company into the old Blu-ray player. Anyone else spending this Christmas Eve alone?

I just bought a new Wisephone from Techless. Seems nice, but when attempting to get it set up, I followed the carrier's instructions and deleted the factory default Access Point Names (APN). Now, it won't connect at all. The carrier was useless and Techless support won't be available until Monday. I really need to get it activated before then, so ..... I know this is a long shot, but if anyone has a Wisephone, could you please share the list of the APNs?

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a good evening. This is, I think, the tenth edition of the annual thread dedicated to those among us who, for whatever reason, find ourselves solo on the night before Christmas. Here in my cozy habitat, it's just me, my faithful hound and, a little later, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey will make his yearly appearance. The presents are wrapped and under the tree. After dinner, I'll imbibe a latte and then maybe a little vino. Anyone else solo tonight?

Just wondering if any of my fellow Freepers are, like me, spending Christmas Eve solo. Unlike previous years, however, I'm not quite alone, as I am now sharing my home with a two year old Greyhound I adopted last Spring. Other than he and I, it's a cozy, quiet, peaceful and solo Christmas Eve. How about everyone else?
  • Andrew Pollack: If Biden Wins, Policies That Led to Parkland Shooting Will Go Nationwide

My daughter Meadow was murdered in the Parkland school shooting. I haven’t smiled since. I don’t think I’ll ever smile again. But last week, the Broward County School Board demanded my psychiatric records — among those of other Parkland parents — to prove that I’ve suffered. That might shock you. It shouldn’t. It did not surprise me at all. I’ve seen what happens when politically correct “anti-racist” ideology replaces human decency in a public school system. If Joe Biden is elected president, you’ll find out too. After my daughter was murdered, I wanted to know everything that went wrong. And...

So, this has become an annual thread. Each year I hope to find that special someone and each year, around this time, I realize that I may have to wait another year. But, I can't complain. Life is good. I made a sweet potato pie from scratch and will share it with the family tomorrow at our Christmas dinner. I'm 59 years-old and have been blessed to have spent every Christmas with my parents? How many people can say that? But, tonight it's just me, George Bailey on Bluray, some beautiful sacred Christmas music on SiriusXM Holiday Pops and a...

August 29, 2019 at 4:17 AM CDT - Updated August 29 at 5:25 AM NEWBURGH, N.Y.- About an hour and a half after a group of children in New York decided to sell lemonade during rush hour, police showed up after receiving a call, possibly complaining about traffic caused by the stand. Mother Whitney Glover says she helped some kids in the Newburgh, N.Y., area put up a lemonade stand Monday. "We were probably out there about an hour and a half, when I noticed the cop car pull up,” Glover said. An unidentified person saw the group selling lemonade...

My dad was USAF, stationed at Minot AFB, ND. I was a 9 year-old space nerd. Most of my friends were also space nerds and we followed the Apollo program closely. During the summer, the housing area was crawling with kids all day until the sun set about 10:00 pm. Every house had at least one kid, and most had 2 or 4. The winters were harsh, so we took full advantage of the summers and stayed outside as much as possible. GREAT place to grow up. The best. The evening of July 20, 1969, I was playing with some...

Well, this seems to have become an annual event. Alone on Christmas Eve, reaching out to my fellow FReepers. Myself, I have my daughter's hermit crab for company. And some great classical Christmas music. And, a little later, George Bailey and friends via BluRay. Anyone else spending this evening solo?

In September 2001, I bought the lot, covered in trees and so thick with brush you couldn’t walk through it. I cleared the land myself. We built the house in 2002, moving in on Labor Day. The columns on the front porch were my ex-wife’s excellent idea. My father died four days after we moved in and I never got to show it to him. My oldest daughter, age 11 when we moved here, entered adolescence and then womanhood in this home. I met her nervous first dates on that porch. When my youngest daughter was born, I carried...

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance has today launched the ‘Venus Blazing’ project, which will ensure that female composers make up more than half its concert programmes in the 2018/19 academic year. Chair of Trinity Laban, Harriet Harman MP, launched the project at a lunchtime concert today in celebration of both International Women’s Day and the 90th birthday of British composer Thea Musgrave. Harman commented on the power of the project, saying, ‘It will encourage and inspire its students – many of whom will go on to shape the future of the performing arts – to engage with the...

Upon its release in 1982, no one would have expected Fast Times at Ridgemont High ever to receive the imprimatur of classic. The movie was engineered to make a quick buck at a moment when Hollywood was giddy about its latest easy-money formula: Take some horny teens, put them in a broad, dumb comedy that invited teen boys to ogle bare breasts, and load the soundtrack with hit rock songs. Low-budget movies like Private Lessons (1981), The Last American Virgin (1982), Goin’ All the Way (1982), Private School (1983), Losin’ It (1983), Spring Break (1983), Bachelor Party (1984), and especially...

Hey everyone. In what has become a Christmas Eve tradition, of sorts, I would like to wish all of those Freepers who, like myself, have for whatever reason found themselves alone this Christmas Eve. I hope this thread can, as in previous years, serve as a gathering place for the solo folks who may otherwise have little or no contact with others on this celebrated evening. You are not alone, really. God bless us, God bless us everyone.

Please excuse the vanity, but I am unable to locate the original piece. Remember a few years back, when the White House released what was supposedly Obama's for real birth certificate? Well, almost immediately some blogger proved it to be a fake. Does anyone know where I can find this? For some reason, I can find it anywhere. Thank you. And God bless.

A Georgetown law professor has filed disbarment charges against Marilyn Mosby for her corrupt prosecution of six Baltimore cops in the death of career criminal, Freddie Gray. There have now been 3 trials and Mosby hasn’t come close to winning one yet and has even been excoriated for withholding exculpatory evidence. The list of charges against Mosby are as follows: - that she did not have probably cause to believe that there was sufficient admissible evidence to support a conviction of the officers; - that she made public statements regarding the case which were false; - that she improperly withheld...
