Unfortunately, a private or parochial school with the ability or willingness to educate a special needs child, even a high functioning one, is not easy to find.
There was an article in yesterday's Free Press on this subject...about southern factories threatening the UAW. Somebody in Detroit got their boxers in a wad about the south?
Well...(I'm suddenly very nervous!) 1. vinegar 2. pulled 3. yes, I do it with a brisket 4. deep? any prediction will do! 5. depends on if you work for a native (in which case you'll be hunting with him) or a transplanted yankee (in which case he's scandalized that you own a gun)
extra credit: I take jars of Dukes Mayo with me on trips up north...got the whole family addicted to it. Also, one of my most prized possessions is a cast iron skillet that belonged to my husband's grandma Fannie...black as coal and smooth as silk.
Now now, some of us move down here and never look back! We never talk about things being better up there, because we know they're not! It doesn't get any better than here.
Agreed. There doesn't seem to be any consistency on from diocese to diocese. And not only on this subject. My six year old sister was confirmed last year. At six. She hasn't even made her first communion yet.
Is it still the case that they should not receive communion? My father's marriage to my mother has never been annulled, yet he and his new wife joined a parish, and receive communion every week.
I wish I could give you a good answer to this question. I just flat out don't know. It is not difficult to get into a state university in TN. I know one young man who got all Cs and Ds in high school, and did not have enough credits to graduate with his class. He was allowed to 'walk the line' at graduation, he finished up 3 classes in the summer (with Ds) and is now attending a local state university. I have heard that if you graduate from high school in TN, you are almost guarenteed a spot at a state university. If this is true, it would seem that the problem is that kids are allowed to graduate without having basic english and math skills.
