There are so many people in this diocese that can sympathize with you. Here in the greater Richmond area, many of the parishes are rife with novelties. We attended a Maronite church for a while. A friend at my parish called a parish church closer to her job to see if she would be able to run by during her lunch hour and spend a little time with the Lord in prayer. When she asked about Mass times, the secretary told her that they did not like to use the term "Mass", they preferred "Eucharistic liturgy" for all services.
The Latin Mass magazine is great. It's such a wealth of information and has such meaty articles, not the fluff that so many magazines trot out nowadays.

Fr. Ripperger held two lectures at our parish. The first was on the gifts of the Holy Spirit (which I missed). The second was "Is Modern Man Really Superior to Ancient Man". He is absolutely brilliant. I wouldn't even know where to begin.:) If you've ever read any of his articles in The Latin Mass magazine, you'll know what I mean. You can tell he's been educated extensively in philosophy, yet he makes everything really accessible.
Fr. James McLucas and John Blewett (of The Latin Mass mag.) were also recently at our parish. Fr. McLucas gave a lecture on Catholic culture. He was great too. A very gentle soul.

Sorry so late in responding. Father Scalia was at our parish in early August (Diocese of Richmond). He is currently still in the Arlington diocese as far as I know. His Latin is absolutely beautiful. He's young and very intelligent. Just what one would expect from Justice Scalia's family.
I'll ask around about the priest at Christendom College. There are so many orthodox young Catholics there, many homeschooled or educated by devout religious like the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart. If Bishop Walter "Pax Christi...let's celebrate the annual gay mass" Sullivan can allow a full indult parish, it's a shame that other bishops hold out on even allowing one Traditional Mass a week. In one of the litanies for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, there's a petition for the pastors who were not solicitous for the souls entusted to them and I always envision these 'shepherds' who deny the devout access to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the ancient rite and the Sacraments dispensed in like manner.

Justice Scalia's son, Father Paul, offered the Traditional Mass at my parish while our priest was on vacation.

Fr. Chad Ripperger was at our parish recently and after his conference he was talking about the talks for the universal indult in Rome. I'm paraphrasing here, but he said that one of the Cardinals said that if any priest could say the Traditional Mass anytime and if the Mass was offered frequently, then in 10 years no one would attend the New Mass except the fruits and nuts. (Of course, the Cardinal was saying this in a negative sense).

The parishes in Richmond don't fare much better than those in Chesapeake. I attend St. Joseph's (mentioned above). We also started out as an independent chapel and our priest is a Benedictine.

I think your observations are correct. The West, Christianity and Judaism merely serve as scape-goats for a group of people who haven't been able to get it together since the Islamists destroyed cultures from Persia to the Levant.

If those stubborn Christians would "submit", there would be "peace". (Yeah, right). I haven't seen anything in the mainstream media yet. A mosque vandalized with spray paint makes leftists quake with indignation. Churches burned to the ground (or worse, Christians enslaved in Africa) gets a shrug.

It has absolutely nothing to do with common sense. Motu Proprio, Ecclesia Dei absolutely forbids mixing of the Tridentine and Novus Ordo rites. In other words, if you are attending an indult Tridentine service the sacraments will be administered under the Traditional Latin Rite, all responses are given in Latin, communion is offered under one species, placed on the communicant's tongue while they kneel at the altar rail and the communicant does not say 'amen'.
Perhaps common sense could be used more frequently in NO CCD classes. I find it hard to believe that an unsuspecting Novus Ordo Catholic could stumble onto a Tridentine Mass and not realise that everyone else is kneeling to receive, thus making the appropriate posture obvious.

The church I attend was independent and now is indult. The attendence jumped from about 50 families to over 300 families (real big Catholic families). We are blessed to have our own Church building, parish, and a wonderful, intelligent, orthodox priest. Shockingly for the libs who come to Mass every now and then to gawk at and ridicule the "religious fanatics", the bulk of our parish are young families and older teens who have deserted the NO Mass of their parents, not elderly people waxing nostalgic for a bygone era. The article is a cream puff excuse for a hit piece. Complex dogmatic and theological issues will never be touched on by people who can't even grasp the watered-down, protestantised, Masonic version of their faith.

Faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God. The 'in name only types' may not follow, but those truly devoted to Christ will. The lukewarm can sit the fence all day, but to those of us who love Him, it's nourishment for the heart and soul. Of course you're correct, the problem sweeps over all denominations. If every "Christian" in this nation practiced what they preached, we wouldn't be in the decline we're in today. Perhaps this film will knock some of the fence-sitters back into love with Him.

I live in Richmond and this has kicked up a little storm. Everyone I've talked to about it is disgusted. What type of parent sends their 15 year old daughter to a nudist camp to get her body smeared with pudding? It's almost unbelievable that a society could fall to these depths in a mere 50 years. I abhor government policies on parenting, but where does one draw the line?

No need to be a smart-alec. You're the one requesting the biblical reason why many Christians do not allow women to pastor in the church. I know it sounds archaic to post-modern feminized humanists, but no one is forcing women into traditional roles.
Weak straw man #1-The passages have nothing to do with singing, they are referring to teaching.
Weak straw man #2-No where in the New Covenant are women required to wear burquas. Although I, and other traditional Catholic women, do cover our hair as an outward symbol of submission to Christ.
Weak straw man #3- There is a practical reason that women were kept apart during menstration. Most Levitical laws were given while the Israelites were living in the desert. Many of the laws are hygenic in nature, suited to people who did not always have adequate water supplies. Many bedouin women, even today, remove all their pubic hair to facilitate hygeine given the lack of water. Blood is an unclean body fluid, as you may know, and in the pre-Kotex era, well, you can use your imagination.
For someone who seems to have such distaste and loathing for any and all things biblical, one wonders why you spend so much time on threads regarding religion. You may want to study up on the reasons things were done as they were done, so as not to build up ridiculous straw men assertions that could make 5th grade Sunday school students embarrased for you due to your lack of knowledge .
BTW, after reading some of your comments on other threads, you may want to study up on religious punishments in Renaissance and post-Renaissance Europe.

1 Corinthians 14:34,35 pretty well sums up a woman's place in the congregation. Silence and submission. Also found in 1 Timothy 2:9-15. The Twelve appointed to carry the mission were all male. Priestesses certainly haven't helped the Anglican Church along any.

I hope you didn't take offense. I'll assume that you don't attend a charismatic church that allows people to crawl around on the floor while barking like a dog (like Toronto or Brownsville). I attended a pentecostal church where the pastor was adamant about people remaining respectful and made sure that no one was getting carried away. People can take anything to the extreme, no doubt about it, and unfortunately, the post Vatican 2 Catholic church has alot of unpious, blasphemous, animistic practices allowed by modernist bishops and priests. They don't want to say "that's enough" because their sole purpose is to destroy the Church from within and alot of ignorant, ill-informed "Catholics" are allowing them to do it unchecked.

No one was dancing at religious worship services within the temple area. David was dancing on his way through the city. Orthodox and traditional Catholics prefer reverent services that focus on God, not each other. For those who require more entertainment or a party atmosphere while worshiping the One, True God, there are many charismatic churches that offer various entertaining fare. If you'd like to point me in the direction of sources that can show that dancing has been an historical part of Christian worship (Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox) before the early 20th century America or even in Jewish synagogue worship, I'd really like to read up on it.

They abandoned the fall/redemption theology?? "Low" Christology?? These people are not Christians by any stretch of the imagination. They openly admit to centering their worship on the created instead of the Creator. Talk about going to hell in a handbasket.

Off subject a bit- did you have any damage from the storm Friday? I have a ton of friends in Amelia and all of them suffered some type of property damage (thank God that was all). One Cumberland friend had trees down in her yard. I went Saturday to pick up the children of friends that live near the courthouse in Amelia and the damage was almost unbelievable.

Yoruba dancing is spiritual and traditionally directed to bring the dancer into communion with Bantu deities. Take a trip to Haiti and witness this style of dance being practiced as the adherents beg the 'gods' to possess them. Each movement is symbolic. It has no place at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Instead of perverting the Roman church, people who enjoy this type of spectacle will feel right at home in Santeria or Voodoo where they can worship the gods that these dances pay homage to instead of bringing demonic idolatry into a church of the One, True God.

It doesn't. It was wrong in Mexico and it is wrong in LA. Pagan dance elements do not belong at the Holy Sacrifice of Mass and it has absolutely nothing to do with being vanilla. Numerous Christian converts were martyred for turning their backs on pagan rituals (even white Celtic rituals) only to have neo-new age liberals and modernists make obnoxious displays of themselves before the altar of Christ.

Altars take away from all that focus on self and each other that has become all the rage at gatherings like these. With all the show-boating and performing, who would want a large altar with a man hanging on a cross to take up room on the stage? It may also cause people to be somber and genuflect on what Christ endured for our salvation, which may make people think twice about dancing, clapping, jumping up and down. Gosh darnit, these performers rehearsed for hours, we wouldn't want a thorn-crowned statue taking away from the spectacle. Notice how high the "presider's" chair is and that it is center stage. No doubt who sat at the trone at that festival.

Can orthodox Catholics, upholders of the faith, really look upon this and believe that the modernist influx post-Vatican II has not nearly destroyed the True Church with their liturgical "reforms"? Does anyone really doubt that the current heirarchy is destroying the faith bit by bit, turning it into a New Age universalist abomination?
ROMAN Catholics, meditate on the Way of the Cross and renew your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, see afresh His Holy Sacrifice on the cross. Cling to the True Faith and do not support these types of abuses in any way, shape or form. Our allegiance is to Our Lord and His Church, not to the evil that entered into our midst. If our leaders turn their back on the deposit of faith, we are to reject their "authority", for there is no authority greater than that of the Almighty. Even if we remain as only a remnant, praise God that He is showing us just how far the leaders of the Church have strayed, that He is showing us how strong we must be in contrast to how weak the rest of the laity is. Pray for God to raise up strong men of Christ that will minister to us in the Apostolic faith, and abandon these evil perverts and destroyers of souls as they go careening towards Hell.

I attended two majority black high schools and I know first hand that this type of thing goes on more often than reported. I graduated in '88 and during my four years of school we had some type of race related problem at least every other month, always black on white. Although the majority of black students were well brought up and generally good people, there were always groups of thuggish boys AND girls who felt that they could prove something by taking their anger out on the white kids. The few hispanic and Asian kids were constantly harrassed by black and white thugs. None of these things were ever reported by the media. Once, there was a full-fledged race riot and a neighboring school and all the media reported was that a "fight" broke out at a pep rally and a couple of students were injured. No word that it was a group of blacks off the street who crashed the pep rally and started attacking white people only, resulting in one young man getting a broken jaw and two others beat up and traumatized so badly they never returned to school.

When I saw what my goddaughter's 'Eucharist' handbook said, I quickly replaced it with a St. Joseph's Baltimore Catechism for Children. My family attends an indult Tridentine parish were proper respect and reverence due the Host are observed. I was dismayed, to say the least, at the attitude of my goddaughter's 'Christian instructor' when she told me they didn't emphasize the Real Presence because many of the children were coming into the Church from Protestant sects and they didn't want to make them feel uncomfortable. I've since convinced my goddaughter's parents (non-practicing Catholics) to let her attend Mass with our family since my husband and I will be helping her form her faith and it will be easier to teach her correctly instead of having to undo heresies taught to her by "Catholics" who rely on emotion and fads instead of true Church teaching.
We 21st century Catholics are going to have to rise up and be defenders of the deposit of the True Faith. We must meet the Modernists and Liberals on the field of spiritual battle and let them know they will not continue to wrest Christ's Church from the hands of His faithful.

Regarding the last line of your post, in Sudan, many Christian children who are captured are thrown into the fire if they refuse to convert to Mohammedism. Imagine a young boy, after seeing his parents killed and his village destroyed, being able to cling to his faith unto death.
