Putin praises Russia's Muslims - July 10, 2013 - President Vladimir Putin has sent a message of greetings to Russia's Muslim community in connection with the start of Ramadan.
"This period of fasting, which is sacred for the entire Umma, is a tradition that has its roots in the distant past and is a reminder of the need to be merciful and tolerant, to do more good works, and to care for people," Putin said in his message, the text of which is posted on the website of his office.
"We are justifiably proud of the outstanding Muslims who have made an invaluable contribution to the strengthening of Russia and to the defense of its independence and sovereignty, and have done a great deal for peace and harmony in our multiethnic society."
"I am sure that Russian Muslims will continue to take part in the development of our common native country and help build a powerful, prosperous and modern nation," the president said.
There are signs that Hamas is now trying to mend its relations with Iran. This week Hamas joined other groups at a meeting in an Islamic Jihad office in Gaza to help plan activities for International Quds Day, a day of solidarity with Jerusalem that Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini instituted when he came to power in Iran in 1979 and which falls on the last Friday of Ramadan. In recent years only Islamic Jihad observed the event, with small demonstrations in Gaza. - nytimes.com
If you say that Obama won because of voter fraud, then I assume you mean against Romney, because in 2012 Obama beat McCain in a landslide by almost ten million votes.
When Romney said that he would have trouble winning over a large percentage of Americans because they depend on government handouts, he was right. His only mistake was to say it was 47%. It's more like 51%
It's pointless to promise a tax cut to people who pay no taxes.
That's why we need wedge issues like gay marriage which has been proved as a winning issue for Republicans because most American are against gay marriage.
We're not going to win by telling people what they should want, we'll win by giving them what they want, which is a ban on gay marriage.
most libertarians (small L) don't think the feds should be sanctioning marriage or giving and special treatment to married people.
True, if libertarians were intellectually consistent, they would argue that the federal government has no business interfering in marriage. However, what I have found is that most people of the libertarian persuasion are sympathetic to the cause of gay marriage, because they don't think it should be anybody's business who marries who. Libertarians tend to be very hostile and hateful to Christian Conservatives who are against gay marriage because libertarians do not believe in "legislating morality." Libertarian hostility to Conservatives and sympathy for the homosexual agenda go hand in hand.
So you think the rats stole the election in Florida, Virginia, and Ohio? Really?
If the election came down to one state then maybe you could reasonably argue they stole it, but Romney had to win 5 swing states to win the election and he only won one of them, North Carolina.
You need to wake up to the fact that Romney lost because he was a poor candidate. Romney thought all he had to do to win was not be Obama. He was wrong.
Romney needed to give America a reason to vote for him, not just a reason to vote against Obama. He failed to do so.
Libertarianism is a loser because most Americans just want free stuff. Bush won twice because he got people to the polls to vote against gay marriage. Libertarians are weak on gay marriage.
