He was all over the place on immigration and amnesty, during the 2000 campaign, according to the following site.
I did find in another link information that he agreed to push for a guest worker program as a favor to Fox, and that was just prior to 911, but before the 2000 election, he mainly spoke of "immigration reform", not amnesty or guest worker, or so I gather.
There are no doubt many other quotes than just the ones on the following site, which I found very useful to refresh my memory:
There are too many people today who were educated by the leftist schools and the MSM, and far too few who remember the lessons learned in the '40s and '50's about Communism. Today is a replay and acceleration of the tactics of the '60s.
What's that old saying? Something like, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Something like that.
But the publik skrewls don't teach things like that anymore. Much more important to read stories about some poor kid with 2 mommies and no daddy.
A co-founder of the ACLU, Norman Thomas, had this to say back in the 20s:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."
Their goal has always been the destruction of the US, from the get-go.
Well, it was too much noise from that handful, it was fishy to me. Magnified somehow, can't see how they could have been as loud at times as they were. When the MM began speaking, the antis were equally loud at first. I too saw only 1 bullhorn, just assumed there were more.
Hope Kristinn will post later for an on-the-ground report!
It seemed that the police did a piss poor job by allowing the pro-illegals to be so close to the rally. Later it seemed that they were quieter.
That was my perception too. At first, I was thinking that some of the media were using their mikes to magnify the counter-protestors' shouts, maybe not, but I wouldn't be surprised...the shouting was too loud just for that small group of antis.
Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas: "We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population . . . I love it. They are s___ing in their pants with fear. I love it."
When you consider that last year alone, 1.2 million were caught and turned back, and that for every one that is caught, 2 or 3 get in undetected, last year there may have been 3 million new illegals added to the number.
That's been going on for years.
I'm not so sure it's not close to 30 million.
In any case, no one really has any idea.
Even if it's "only" 8 to 12 million, when each of those is given amnesty, they become anchors to bring in their family members.
10 million x 5 or more family members? How can we assimilate 50 million or more people in a short time, especially since many of them don't want to be assimilated?
The nation is rapidly becoming balkanized, and will pull apart at the seams.
The Mexican government is protecting the $20 billion a year the illegals loot from this country and send to Mexico.
A decent percentage of that money is paying for their former Presidents.
Five of them (and soon to be 6 with Fox) -- they EACH get $5 million a year for life!
What a corrupt country, sending us their impoverished many of whom we the US taxpayers support, while their rulers live like kings.
What a racket.
"At a time when millions of Mexicans survive on less than $2 per day, the government spends millions of dollars on former Presidents Luis Echeverría, Miguel de la Madrid, Carlos Salinas de Gortari, and Ernesto Zedillo. In 2002 it paid out some $5 million to each former chief executive in pensions, property-operation expenses, office equipment, travel, staff, and security."
