For some people, nothing someone who isn’t their candidate can do will ever be good enough. Ever. And that goes for rabid liberals and “true conservatives” alike.

Look to the last two elections, and the current campaign for more examples of this.

I don’t know CM...Chicago is pretty tough to beat when it comes to hot dogs...

I saw a special recently on wither the Food Network or the Travel Channel about great hot dogs from around the country. I thought that would make an AWESOME road trip...

Never used to go out of my way to eat a hot dog...until I started working up here - which blessedly ends soon!

    I don’t know - I don’t presume to know His ways.

Ah...so there’s nothing allegorical in the Bible?

Maybe that’s just the 2000 year-old layman’s explanation for something they didn’t yet understand.

Please do not ping me to any more of these Keyes - I mean Hunter threads.

If that means removing me from your ping lists, then so be it.

    Thank you.

Gone are the days where the site was so slow that people would scream when an image was posted. Gone are the times when it would be down for days at a time. Gone also are some of the really obnoxious posters who would correct every mis-spelled and would fight with each other over anything and everything.

And gone are the days where there was truly a free exchange of ideas amongst conservatives of varying degrees...

    Look at the edge/hem.

It’s simply a blanket printed with the flag emblem.

And out of anyone who has earned the right to use the flag motif in his decor - this guy definitely qualifies.

    Hello all-

Don’t really post here anymore, since the whole world went to hell in a handbasket around here.

I have however, lurked from time to time, and made the occasional post - against my better judgment. I have also checked in from time to time to gather tidbits of news.

Tonight, I logged in, only to find some ridiculous FR mail in my inbox titled “Final Warning”, from some goober named Im4Fred - telling me that I hadn’t given this month to Thompson’s campaign, and reiterating how FR is no longer a place for dissenting opinions.

To paraphrase, I told him to shove it. So - I may no longer be able to post here on the rare occasion that I find it appropriate - which is a crying shame.

Folks can rationalize all they like, but this place is no longer the oasis for conservatives that it once was. It’s a shadow of it’s former self. Apparently, you are only allowed here if you are considered by the new FR elite to be one of the “true conservatives”, or meek enough not to make waves. Neither of those suit me; I have always tried to think and act for myself, and am not willing to let some internet bullying change that.

Sorry for the rant, but I DID stay quiet during a period when plenty of decent people were being shown the door, in the hopes that this was just another era similar to the period prior to GW’s nomination - you know, when Keyes supporter (and the site founder) were calling GW a “coke-snorting frat boy”, and decrying anyone who dared not support a “true conservative” as a flaming liberal.

So - if my profile remains, maybe I will rejoin you all if and when this place regains it’s sanity. If it doesn’t - well then I guess I was right in leaving.

Take care, all of you - it was wonderful knowing you. Some of you I still have contact with, and some of you are content here.

That’s cool - it’s a free country, to be sure. I wish you all the best.

    -Coop

We heard a lot of this same stuff from the Keyes supporters in the last few elections, and the Buchanan supporters before that.

Fortunately, most of the country is more pragmatic than your dire predictions.

If most of conservative America is truly represented here, then we are already screwed. It’s shameful, all of the rabid rhetoric and name calling that flies around these parts.

I’m sure the left is eating this up. What was the saying about standing together, or falling separately...?

So I was right about your age.

    If not literally, then emotionally.

If the UAW loves this country so much, then they might just worry a little more about quality and profit than enabling mediocre workers to make a ridiculous amount of money.

Toileta? What are you - 15 years old?

How many of the 39 most reliable are from domestic manufacturers?

How many of the least reliable are from domestic manufactuers?

You sound like a UAW worker. And until those jokers ground themselves in reality, the foreign manufacturers will continue to whip their butts, both in quality and profit margin.

Actually, many “SoCons” wailed and gnashed their teeth about Bush before he became the nominee, as well.

Fortunately, most of them were grounded in reality once he got the nomination.

If a neighbor being stupid enough to use a ladder in a thunderstorm put OTHERS in danger, I’d be all for it.

There’s a disconnect in your logic that you just aren’t getting.

But again - I’ll defer to Mr Hunter, who said:

“How does “vicarious criminal liability” sound to you, as a concept? You know, for humans to be held criminally responsible for the damage inflicted by their animals, as if they had done the deed themselves? Viz:

Dog growls at human without provocation = uttering a threat
    Dog attacks human = Assault
Dog injures human = Assault & Battery
Dog injures human seriously = Assault causing GBH
    Dog kills human = murder
Dog kills human on order of owner = premeditated murder
Unregistered dog does any of the above = aggravation factor resulting in sentencing enhancement
Dog owned by owner does any of the above more than once = recidivist criminal offending resulting in sentencing enhancement
Dog roams at large causing any of the above crimes = negligence resulting in sentencing enhancement

I think that is a perfectly fair way to deal with dangerous personal property. Particularly if the principle also extended to civil liability. I betcha Pit Bull ownership would drop drastically overnight if this perfectly sensible and fair legal concept were adopted. No need for a breed ban: those who truly felt that their pit bulls were harmless would be free to place their personal liberty at risk to prove it.”

Metal ladders don’t kill people when they suddenly turn on them, or when they get loose.

That’s a ridiculous line of reasoning. Ladder deaths are accidents; pit bull deaths are tragedies that could easily be avoided.

I like post 111 above. I’ll defer any remaining comments to those sentiments.

66 probably wouldn’t seem so insignificant to you if a member of your family was one of the fatalities.

Additionally, those account for only the INCIDENTS, and not for instances where there were multiple dogs involved. When you count individual dogs, the number nearly doubles

This fact is the rebuttal to those who claim that PB’s are no more dangerous than nay other breed.

No matter how much you want to minimize the deaths, or spin them into something meaningless to you, clearly they are more dangerous than any other.
