Cruz’s true colors were also revealed when he began campaigning as the only alternative to Donald Trump. That showed he was courting the establishment vote as opposed to the outsider Ted.

There’s only one candidate who has remained true to his original tack and ‘Make America Great Again’ is his campaign slogan. He has risen in the face of tremendous opposition from all the right people. The Republican voter has indicated repeatedly their preference for this man while the establishment types have sought to deny him the nomination at all costs.

    Go Donald!!!

“Next lets realize that the campaign Ted Cruz is running is that of a weak candidate who a majority of republican voters reject. On April 26th Cruz hits the mathematical wall and he well knows it. His is a campaign of desperation fueled by naked ambition. There is no dirty trick he will not stoop to in an effort to obtain the GOP nomination no matter the futility of it.”

Cruz crossed the line and couldn’t hide his unprincipled ambition when he joined the crowd and blamed Donald Trump’s rhetoric for the violence in Chicago. He had an opportunity to stand on principle but he chose to kick Trump in the shims instead. No principled conservative would parrot the Left’s mantra against a Republican.

"I don't think people are idiots for supporting him. I think they are angry, and they see someone who seems to share their anger. They see a successful business man. They see someone who gives them hope.

There are a lot worse things that could happen to this country. Trump is far from the top of that list.”

I like the way you think Vermont Lt! You present a reasoned conclusion, one that avoids denigration and name-calling. You assume the best intentions, not idiot status! and that's always helpful. Nice!

“Right, Trump is not a politician definition of pragmatist. His word still means something.”

Then why does he have so many conflicting positions?
Trump has made very strong campaign promises. You can believe them or not. I judge him to be a man who will keep his promises. I believe him. He’ll have a hard time with credibility if starts walking back on his promises. Why? He’s a very proud man of his word and his ego won’t allow that.

“Pragmatist” does not mean “liar who says anything to get elected and relies on the stupidity of his victims, er, supporters.”

So, no, Trump is not a Pragmatist.

Right, Trump is not a politician definition of pragmatist. His word still means something. So he has had three wives. But do any of you know a man who’s had three wives and yet not one of them has anything bad to say about him?

    Riddle me that Batman!

There’s so much more to this game than saying you believe in conservative principles.

Skill is the ability to get your way when the tide is going against you. This week alone Trump stood against the Pope and George W, a former president, and he WON both encounters!! He went on to win all but one district in South Carolina and even took the “evangelical” vote away from Cruz!!!

He has skill that the others only wish they had. You can have the right ‘conservative’ thoughts without skill and you accomplish NADA!

The term conservative is passe now. We’ve been taken to the cleaners by too many politicians who promise and don’t deliver.

I’m not falling for it again.

“Many here will recoil from this truth but given the lies and broken promises of the so-called conservatives we have elected over the years, “conservative” has arguably become a pejorative.”

I won’t recoil! I am so sick of that label being used to gain votes! This election, conservative means ‘sucker one more time’ in my book!

“One problem with a pragmatist is that they may turn on you as soon as it is pragmatic for them to do so.”

Oh, you make an excellent point! because conservatives can’t do that, right? no. conservatives must remain true to their word. Like that ‘Tea Party’ Marco Rubio and his anti-amnesty position, one of the central promises of his campaign. It was he who became the front man for the Gang-of-Eight amnesty bill, was it? No it couldn’t have, because he’s a conservative!

    they do make several claims:
    1. 95% less water,
    2. doesn’t use pesticides and
    3. the business model was attractive enough to interest private investors Goldman Sachs and Prudential.

It seems those three claims merit further investigation.

I’m all for fighting the smear mongers. Herman weathered the Sharon Bialek accusations and was still in the race, going even stronger. In fact his donations increased! [mine included]. I loved the guy!

What he wasn’t able to shake were the allegations from a second woman, Ginger White. She claimed to have had a 13 year affair with him and had received payments from Mr. Cain that he acknowledged his wife knew nothing about.

Uuuuhhh, I thought Cain got caught in a lie about his lady friend. That didn’t happen? That isn’t what stopped his campaign? Now he’s your knight in shining armor?

I loved Cain. I sent him money! But Cain let us down. He Bill Clintoned his own political future. You can now, post BC, be a liberal and a scoundrel, for some reason they don’t care. But you can’t be a conservative and horse around on your wife. It’s just not the same.

    We care!

“I’d say we have a good head of steam right now, if we can find someone to carry the message, that we can’t keep borrowing 40 cents of every dollar we spend.”

You dream of a red hot conservative TP’er winning a national election with the current demographics? and the way things are headed?

And what segment is having babies at the fastest clip?
And from what segment are these 43% of unwed mothers?

I can’t say I know just what to do but the future belongs to the majority and they are concentrated in the major population centers. We of the traditional mindset are fast slipping back in numbers, have you noticed? The next generation isn’t like us at all!

We need to teach better values, to win their hearts and minds back to morality and the value of personal responsibility.

But right now we and our values are on our way out! White males are being equated with the devil, a nasty lie that denigrates the white male’s historic contribution in building and running this Country based simply on gender and race.

This needs to be challenged. Identity politics has become accepted as true. It is the opposite of the American dream of a color blind society rewarding people for their accomplishment. Identity politics is evil and bases all judgments on a shallow metric of outward appearances.

We’re all frustrated but let’s face it, red hot anything is only a sliver of the electorate. And the demographics of the Country certainly seem to be changing AWAY from us. Without a coalition of similar interests we’ll not carry a national election by ourselves.

“Historically, third parties have helped the two main parties win elections.”

Bush won Florida in 2000 by 537 votes while 97,488 voted for third party Nader and so the election went to George not Gore.

Clinton won the 1992 election with only 43% of the vote, HW Bush lost with 37% but the little guy from TX siphoned off 19%.

If there are three candidates running then the top two vote getters should face each other in a runnoff. That way the winner has the final majority margin.

If not the likely 2nd choice for a larger margin ends up being the President.

Winning the presidency with 43% means 57% didn’t want you.

“This election wasn’t lost on the issues.”

I’d have to agree with you. The issues broke so heavily in Romney’s favor. The critical thinking skills of our electorate have diminished and been dumbed down to the point that the majority of Americans vote for eye appeal and not the issues.

Win the argument, lose the election it makes no sense!

How else can you explain this defeat?

    I see it too.

What is also obvious is the “petri dish” in which this Islamic revolution is being spawned. Europe especially has become a feckless, impotent and unChristian region. They lack God’s wisdom and strength to fend off this totalitarian quasi-religious invasion.

    And we’re not far behind.

“...John McCain warned the nation (as many of us did) that a Barack Obama presidency would be the second term of Jimmy Carter; that it would be a rudderless administration unable to govern or lead misdirecting the country into economic distress, military and strategic decline and international turmoil. And so it has been”

Well a video of McCain making those predictions would be a pretty powerful tool in this election effort.
