A Wisconsin Democrat Assemblyman turned to a Republican Assemblywoman in the middle of a legislative session Friday and said, "You are f--king dead." Despite the following report from the Northwestern at 12:53 PM Monday, no major media outlet other than Fox News has covered this disgusting story: Rep. Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh, called Rep. Michelle Litjens, R-Winneconne, Monday morning to apologize for his comments that Litjens described as containing an obscenity and the words “you’re dead.” Last week, he accepted responsibility for being issued an ordinance violation for visiting a massage parlor in Appleton that was the subject of a prostitution...

With a schedule as hectic as President Obama's it must be hard to stick to a training regimen without help -- but why does he insist on having his old trainer fly out from Chicago to D.C. regularly when Obama and his wife exhort the rest of us to drive less? And in a recession? According to Ashley Parker at the New York Times, Obama's fitness czar Cornell McClellan comes out to D.C. every week: Mr. McClellan grew up practicing martial arts, eventually earning a black belt, and as a college student realized that he had a knack for working...

A View from Ground Zero of the Oil Spill On April 20, 2010, an explosion rocked the Deepwater Horizon, which was under contract with British Petroleum (BP) to drill an exploratory well at the Macondo site in the Gulf of Mexico. The explosion was swiftly followed by the unrestricted flow of oil and natural gas from the well-head into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It has been 71 days since the accident, and a massive volume of oil continues to spill into the Gulf. As of June 30, 2010, the government estimates that between 40.7 million gallons (969,000...

As each day goes by, the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico becomes more gruesome. Oil-drenched birds and turtles wash up along the shoreline, pristine beaches are polluted by balls of tar and an oily slick laps at Louisiana's ecologically fragile marshland. Understandably, Americans are livid. But has the bloodlust directed at BP gone too far? Egged on by catch-all protest coalitions, a "seize BP" campaign is organising demonstrations in major cities calling on the US government to snatch the British company's US assets. A "boycott BP" action group advocates shunning BP service stations. Placards abound with slogans...

Neighbors are in shock after a shooting rampage in Chicago's Marquette Park neighborhood left a woman and three children dead overnight. Two others were hospitalized. Chicago Police picked up the suspect on foot without incident a few miles away at 59th Street and Racine Avenue. A weapon was recovered from a car nearby. The Republican National Committee is asking one of its members to return nearly $2,000 that the member was reimbursed for a night out at a lesbian-themed bondage club. Doug Heye, a spokesman for the RNC, issued a statement Monday after two news agencies reported that the organization reimbursed a member $1,946 for a February trip to Voyeur, a bondage-themed nightclub in West Hollywood recently featured in The Los Angeles Times as the new hotspot. "We are investigating the expenditure in question," said Heye. "This was a reimbursement made an individual not on committee staff. ... The committee has requested that...

Talk about a grand ol' party. The "family values" Republican National Committee spent $1,946 at a West Hollywood strip club last month, records show, but a spokesman insisted Monday that RNC chairman Michael Steele was not among the revelers. "The chairman was never at the location in question, he had no knowledge of the expenditure, nor does he find the use of committee funds at such a location at all acceptable," said RNC spokeswoman Doug Heye, who added that the committee was investigating the expenditure. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he thought his apology to Joe Biden over the ill-timed announcement of east Jerusalem construction was sufficient and believed the matter was closed. Speaking to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Netanyahu said he believed the apology was adequate especially as it was personally coordinated with Biden himself. The PM's remarks came several hours after he was harshly reprimanded on the phone by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Following the crisis vis-à-vis the US Administration, Netanyahu decided to convene the forum of top seven government ministers Saturday night to discuss...

Fox News has been making a serious charge about mainstream political reporters: They hate Sarah Palin. This is not just wrong, it’s absurd. The reality is exactly the opposite: We love Palin. And if Palin does not exactly love us, she’s smart enough to recognize how quickly reporters devour every provocative remark she utters. She knows how to exploit our weakness to guarantee herself exposure far out of proportion to her actual influence in Republican politics.
